  1. Flying Tires was nostalgia gone wrong.
  2. Agreed. I hated that the show had pauses for them to set stuff up. Would have been much better as a typical show and not a "behind the scenes" type of thing.
  3. That's kind of a bummer actually...unless they plan on swapping it out with a park/ghost town specific exhibit that expands upon what they have already in the museum.
  4. It really is sad that this has been the general state of all new attractions ever since Comcast took over. That was back in 2009. Since then we've had - Uni Hollywood - Kong 360, Transformers, Despicable Me, Fast & Furious. Uni Florida - Despicable Me, Transformers, Hogwarts Express, Escape From Gringott's IOA - Forbidden Journey Don't get me wrong, they're fun enough attractions, but minor variations of the same idea is getting horrendous. I would say that you are painting an incredibly broad picture if Gringotts, Forbidden Journey, and Transformers are considered "minor variations of the same idea." Fast & Furious, Kong, and Despicable Me are what I would consider "minor variations," since those are just motion bases+3D. Gringotts, Forbidden Journey, and Transformers at least use unique and technically impressive ride systems. I'd like to see more practical effects as well, but I do at least give Universal some credit for using unique ride systems in some of those rides. Spiderman proves what you can do with a cool ride system, 3D, AND practical effects. Forbidden Journey also does a real good job combining the three, though the storytelling leaves a lot to be desired if you have no idea what the things attacking you are!
  5. Carolina I thought looked great. 2nd half they went into cruise control and it almost cost them, but there was no question they were in control. I wasn't sold on the Pats. Fumble and Andy Reid's inability to coach a hurry up offense were the difference. They didn't dominate---did just enough. I will agree that it is just so hard to doubt them at this point because they always seem to find a way to win, but just watching the film won't make you go "wow!"
  6. Was awesome to hear him send a shout out to Chris Mortensen completely unsolicited. That definitely sums up the type of guy he is.
  7. ^Not bad. I'll definitely have to check flights throughout the year... In other news: Green Bay vs Arizona. Holy Crap. Also, the Chiefs need a 2 minute offense...
  8. Panda Express is being remodeled into a generic chinese restaurant. Now your $10 orange chicken can be lower quality...
  9. All I care about in tomorrowland is removing the people mover track if they have no intention of re-using it.
  10. The press photos look great. I hope the park can live up to the expectations that seem to keep growing!
  11. Definitely the best part. Finding Maggie is a hassle. I'm having the same problem when I find her.
  12. Pretty sure if JK Rowling wanted an immersive queue, she would have got herself an immersive queue for the ride...
  13. Columbia only operated on peak days. Only one of my visits saw it running. Every other time I've visited it's been parked against the dock by Splash Mountain. Same for Fantasmic. The show is great but it was only performed on peak nights. It won't be a huge difference in operations for those two attractions to disappear. Columbia and the train, however, will have an impact on crowds. Both attractions were huge people-eaters. While they weren't the most popular rides they certainly had their role to play. I'm afraid to think about standby lines without them. I don't think losing the train or Columbia will be a huge deal...they are people eaters if they were entirely full throughout the day, but I have rarely seen an entirely packed train or boat. Losing Fantasmic will make main street a terrible place to be at night now that all the night time activities will be in that area...
  14. I think that comes down to necessity. Universal is still being aggressive in growing the parks to try and gain another day of a person's vacation. Disney can go at a slower pace because the business is already established and basically in cruise control---no need to throw extra money at a project to rush it.
  15. Get out. Just go. I'll be honest...I love Dueling Dragons, but the poor ride doesn't even duel anymore. It's now 1 really good invert and a second OK one without the dueling (I find the former Ice side to be just OK). I'm not a potter fan, but I wouldn't be opposed to seeing what Universal could do next to push the limits of themeing and ride technology.
  16. There's already enough germs on roller coaster cars...won't find me hating on a crew trying to make sure it's as clean as can be after someone vomited before putting people back on t...
  17. Nice. Doing the whole pool thing at that stadium is on my bucket list of sports things!
  18. What;s most important to you? Signature is detached, which is a longer walk to the casino and the strip, but quieter. Nicer room too.
  19. The bus system is awful. But the trade off is you truly feel like you are at a resort when you stay on WDW property. You can do just about anything and not have to worry about the outside world so to speak. For convenience, having the two parks and all the on and off site hotels in walking distance is nice---but then you also have the realization you are in Anaheim. I like that WDW is so massive and away from the rest of Orlando.
  20. Good luck being able to afford a ticket... I don't have an NFL team, but I am glad that LA held out for so long we got an owner to pay for a stadium on their own.
  21. Good catch. Hope it matches the concept art!
  22. If I was the kicker, I would tell fans and the media "sorry I missed that one kick, but you're welcome for the three others that produced the only points for my team." Bengals didn't deserve that second flag. Should have been offsetting.
  23. Don't feel bad. I still don't understand the flying saucer concept... Even after I watched the video. Aside from the more "open" feel it has to it... To me it just looks like a tight turn on a water slide, with a lot of wasted fiberglass. Click the link to the full proslide website. It's explained pretty clearly on their site. The shape creates more centrifugal force, which means rafts can go faster around turns without the risk of going over the top as they would on a normal water slide.
  24. I'm excited to see them evolve into a full "theme park". I was very impressed by the service of the ride ops on my last visit---there were no more than 50 people in the whole park, but those ride ops were running around to whatever ride we wanted to ride and being super friendly.
