  1. There is a ton to do in the bay area and surrounding areas...not much by way of theme parks, but plenty of other activities to partake in.
  2. The guy who got caught was engaged to another women too...
  3. Or for those who are invited to park buyout events...must be nice to have that kind of cash! On another note, remember all the bitching about annual passes? Parks and Resorts had every measurable number go up in the 4th quarter...10% increase in attendance, 7% rise in per-capita spending on food, drinks, admission and merchandise, Per-room spending at theme park hotels rose 9% for the period, while occupancy rose by 3%, to 92%.
  4. Politicians never lie, right? If Irvine Company wins the auction for the land, Cedar Fair executives have a fiduciary duty to at least listen to the inevitable offer to buy them out of their lease. If the Irvine Company offered them an absurd amount of money, they can't turn it down without facing a shareholder revolt...
  5. ^It's always been that way since 1987. They do WDW and Disneyland, and the MVP walks away with a nice check and free vacation for him and his family.
  6. The key to beating a team with a running QB is gap control...stay where you belong instead of falling for the temptation of following the ball (or ball fake). Denver did that and dominated their 1-1 battles. Cam Newton not knowing how to react to losing shows a lot about his true character. I honestly thought it was cool he was having so much fun and handing kids balls, but his fun appears to be more of the "spoiled brat" variety and not the "I'm just enjoying being paid a lot of money to play the game I love" variety.
  7. If not re-used at another Cedar Fair park, my guess is they will be sold to either PTC, a broker who will sell to another park, or sold to another park directly.
  8. Depending on who buys the land, it can be just the beginning...
  9. High of 85 tomorrow in LA...so much for winter
  10. If a developer handed them a giant check, it wouldn't matter.
  11. A lot of older rides (up until around 2005) are set up like that. A display on the control panel was though of as a premium item that was an unnecessary cost, since touchscreen technology was still in its infancy and expensive, so they were only installed on the control cabinet itself for technical personal to look at. Since then the technology has gotten much better and cheaper, so it's the industry standard now for any big ride.
  12. Some Business Journal Writers are just too stupid. There is no way Cedar Fair would sell off Great America right now Cedar Fair may not sell it now, but if/when a developer buys the land from underneath them with this upcoming auction, things may change.
  13. Even if you just went for USJ, it would be worth it---definitely the best Universal park IMO. Kind of a greatest hits collection of the other Universal parks as well!
  14. They have the right to match any offer and keep the land, so I suspect they will unless the price is too high where it's not worth it.
  15. I'd take DLP in a heartbeat...Best Thunder Mountain, Phantom Manor, the cool ariel fight scene on Pirates, Dragon Lair castle, and more space to deal with the crowds... I'm not arguing that they have some of the best attractions in the chain, I've said that myself plenty of times. When it comes down to it, though, I found the park to be a hostile environment towards foreigners, something that Paris in general is known for. Wretched hospitality will destroy a place's standing in my mind in a heartbeat. It's such a shame because the rest of France I found to be exceedingly friendly and welcoming. I just hate anything and everything having to do with Paris and it's surrounding area. Granted I haven't been since 2005, but I saw none of that. Stayed at the Sequoia and never had any issues at the parks or hotel. In fact, at one of the restaurants at the Disney Village I had my favorite character encounter ever...Smee sat down at our table and was super entertaining.
  16. As previously mentioned, Cedar Fair has a long term lease. They would have to pay a huge price for the land and a huge price to buy out the Cedar Fair lease which runs until at least 2039 (Cedar Fair also holds the rights to renew up to as long as 2079).
  17. ^Her influence may have grown now that Potter has proven itself to be the anchor property for all of the parks owned by Universal...
  18. Dynamic Attractions did the design. Intamin a subcontractor to them. Because she's a dumb dumb dummy head. It's never been confirmed whether or not she is a fan of the ride (lots of rumors stating she doesn't), but assuming she doesn't...I would guess that is based on the fact she doesn't feel that the ride fits well in the Potterverse she created.
  19. The pooh ride looks like a clone of Disneyland's version based on that interior shot.
  20. I'd take DLP in a heartbeat...Best Thunder Mountain, Phantom Manor, the cool ariel fight scene on Pirates, Dragon Lair castle, and more space to deal with the crowds...
  21. oh no she didn't... Why yes, yes she did. Just a heads up. The re-track might not be rough enough for you This is certainly more entertaining than the usual SFMM thread discussion...
  22. "This is too nice...I want my $12 chicken strips served from rundown buildings by kids making minimum wage at Six Flags instead."
  23. That would probably qualify as the most expensive ERT ever...
