  1. Perhaps this is the replacement for Muscle Park?
  2. The Del Mar fair is definitely the best fair in CA. It's an independent midway, so it gets rides that don't normally make it out to CA (like the spinning mouse and windstorm).
  3. ^Maybe he's one of the only 100 lucky owners in the U.S. who will get one. And just happened to get it before they were released. Anyways...Ryan Dunn destroyed a perfectly good GT3 the other day.
  4. ^Keep in mind that the towers those suites are in were the ones that were mothballed before the closure was announced. I am going to assume that they had not been maintained since December of 2009, which is when those towers were mothballed. When they were available, both suites were in high demand and purposely left with the retro feel.
  5. That was actually the selling point of those suites. One of them was the Beatles suite (where the Beatles stayed when they played a concert in Vegas) and the other was the Elvis suite (where he would go "hide" w/ Priscilla while shooting "Viva Las Vegas"). They actually did renovate some of the rooms a few years ago, including really nice 2BR penthouse suite. But I'm sure the fixtures in those rooms were sold right away. BTW, the reason the NASCAR cafe stuff remains relatively untouched is because the hotel does not own it. They are just a tenant of the hotel, so I would assume Sahara has to honor the lease and let the stuff stay there regardless of whether or not the hotel is actually open.
  6. Sandusky is a much better location for their headquarters than Orange County. Why would the company would to be based in an area that on the other side of the country from the majority of their properties? Sandusky is at least more centrally located for them, and I am sure they get some financial incentive to be based there as well.
  7. ^^Looks like a crunched up Audi TT to me.
  8. ^That's not necessarily true. A guest who missed out on one ride will be disappointed, but if long lines have a severe impact on the total amount of rides they are able to ride...the damage is probably worse. "I paid all this money and I could only ride 4 rides?!?!" vs "It sucks this was closed, but at least we rode everything else"
  9. I edited the title to be a more accurate reflection of the data. Very cool information. BTW, who knew Kong would drive attendance so much for USH? 5,000,000 guests is pretty impressive for them!
  10. It's really about the same. the Stitch animatronic is pretty good though. In other news: I really hate Robb and Elissa right now!
  11. Just imagine how Winnipeg citizens will react once they realize they are getting the Thrashers...
  12. All coasters will have some sort of pull through and/or extremely slow test cycle to check the reach envelope.
  13. I'll start getting excited when the facade is added.
  14. The ride is a tagada. Fairly common around the world. A TPR takeover of one was part of the Korea trip! The second ride you posted a video of is a "Top Star Tour" from Soriani & Moser (now a Zamperla ride). N.A.M.E has one they bought from Conklin shows that still travels around North America.
  15. LeBron is going to wake up tomorrow morning with one thing in common with the rest of us: no NBA championship rings.
  16. ^No space for a queue in Thrill Shot's spot.
  17. Two things: 1. Friday is a slow news day. An injury requiring someone to be sent to the hospital at one of the most well known places in LA is going to make the news. 2. Lets not write this off so quick. The injury was serious enough for the guy to be sent to the hospital, so the devil is really in the details. Obviously since the ride is open again, I am assuming he was discharged already, so it probably wasn't that bad. However, that doesn't mean something went wrong besides a harmless accident. We'll probably never hear about it because the ride is already back open and the state didn't keep the ride closed.
  18. I am going to add a sleeper to this list: Legoland California! Granny Smith Apple Fries are one of the best theme park snack foods around. Knights Table BBQ has really good BBQ for a fair price. The Upper Deck Cafe has a great menu for a sit down place too.
  19. ^Then you might get the invite when they are sent out. Once again, it is not recommended that you contact them asking to be invited to an event that does not yet even have an official date.
  20. It is not that simple. MEDIA day is meant for actual media outlets that will generate publicity for the park. I wouldn't recommend contacting the park, as the event is not intended for "regular" guests or small websites.
  21. Lets see how rabid they are after a few seasons of realizing they are rooting for the Thrashers... Leaf fans are still pretty rabid after several seasons of rooting for the Leafs. The Leafs are like the Cubs: lovable losers. They are in a much bigger market and have a much more distinguished history, so people still want to be a part of it regardless. Hopefully being in a newer arena will help the Winnipeg franchise, because otherwise the team will probably just fold again if they can't keep the corporate sponsorships/season ticket sales going...
  22. I remember while still working at the park way back when X opened that the building inspector made them change the railing in the station a few days before the ride was supposed to open for season pass previews.
  23. Lets see how rabid they are after a few seasons of realizing they are rooting for the Thrashers...
  24. A Sea World San Diego hotel would make a killing. There's nothing for families in MIssion Bay...Just all the standard hotel/motel chains close by.
