  1. IMO, the NBA has more to lose because they are already near the peak of their popularity. With all the talent from around the world, the compelling story lines (Miami Heat vs. the world), and basketball becoming a global sport...the NBA doesn't really have a "lightning rod" like MLB had with steroids...err, I mean the home run race to serve as the foundation for rebuilding the brand. Plus, as silly as it is, with the economy the way it is...it's insulting to the fans. That hurts the brand too. At least w/ the NFL we all knew a deal would get done. The NBA lockout just seems like a bunch of rich people bickering where the only people who truly get screwed are the fans and local economies effected by less events at the arenas!
  2. From the description the guy provided, the character is a jester/clown. Isn't that part of the character? It's also worth noting this is the same park that made Heckles & Twitch "famous." Their act/characters? Making fun of people on megaphones all night long. They were so good at it, both USH and SFMM gave them shows! (side note: it's too bad their show at HHN sadly was neutered and turned into crap).
  3. Sounds like a perfect excuse for an impromptu TPR trip!

  5. Torture them until they run out on their own.
  6. I would imagine them doing something similar to Legoland California and place the entrance to the waterpark inside the theme park and offer it only as part of a combo ticket.
  7. My favorite thing about the these rides were the guaranteed downtimes everyday!
  8. N going to lie...I laughed when I read that story. Bummer your friend can't take a joke. I am also going to guess that your friend was not totally innocent in this...I've been around Halloween events long enough as a performer and supervisor to know that rarely will something like that be unprovoked.
  9. Kopitar back with 3 goals already! Too bad the Kings Power Play is still crap so far.
  10. This thread has inspired me to leave for Orlando tomorrow!
  11. IIRC, Giovanola actually owned the patents on the box track design/fabrication process.
  12. Sally's CEO said they are working on a "major attraction" would be opening next December...not that many parks open in December! Hmm...
  13. ^That's great news. More regular ticket sales=more money for the park AND a better experience for those people paying full price, since the park isn't as full of passholders.
  14. New queue photo posted on the blog. Sexy.
  15. Robb did a real good job summing it up. Being a haunt monster is VERY hard work, but also tons of fun. Someday I'll go back and do it again. I miss it too much.
  16. The tour is subject to change on a nightly based on the needs of any productions shooting on the lot. It can be included one night and gone the next for the entire duration of the event if a production rents that stage out.
  17. That's far too expensive for a Haunt potluck.
  18. Cow on a string is the greatest theme park effect ever. I hope it stays forever.
  19. ^^Lets give them some credit: their business plan of cheating investors and not having to pay any bills is pretty awesome. It's worked well for them twice already, so why not give it a 3rd try? Eventually they'll just keep going bankrupt and get every last creditor off their back.
  20. It's the only way for a team to justify such a big cap hit: by locking up their young talent through the prime of their career. Doesn't make sense to pay a guy a bunch of money for a few years only to have him leave while he is still in his prime.
  21. Cedar Fair has always been known as the "good old boys club" when it comes to hiring, so it is no surprise they just keep shifting longtime park senior managers around.
  22. For the majority of visitors to Orlando, that is WAY too much.
  23. This is all you need to know about why Ed Hart was never serious about reopening the park.
  24. Lets hope his offseason workouts included practicing NOT turning the puck over and being in position on defense instead of missing horribly on hip checks...
