  1. Macau Tower has something like this already. TPR members experienced it on the China trip. Looked very cool!
  2. I think they started too late to finish all the other work that goes into a new coaster: programming/electrical, writing the SOP/training, test cycling, and state certification. I'm guessing there was some sort of delay behind the scenes that caused the delay.
  3. Don't know if this is still the case or not, but the park actually had a question on their leads test that asked "what would you do if you were the lead at log jammer and Sky Tower fell onto the ride?" I always thought that was funny.
  4. I do not approve of the removal of Wok from the park.
  5. ^It's not possible due to Six Flags policy of no loose articles on rides.
  6. ...and clearly they didn't trust each other much at all. On offense or defense. Yikes. I'm kind of glad I was working and didn't have to watch the game. Dwight Howard+Gilbert Arenas for Bynum/Gasol/Fisher (who would probably be bought out and return to the Lakers) anyone?
  7. ^Unlike the Caps, the Lakers have played well enough to be up 2-1 right now if not for the lapses in defense. So Kobe's statement is a little less far fetched than Ovie's (Caps never really played well the entire series). The blueprint for victory is there (Mav's have no answer for Kobe+Bynum), it is really just a matter of the Lakers "trusting" each other as Bynum put it on defense.
  8. ^Not a shock at all if you watch the Lakers not rotating on defense.
  9. I'm going to assume that they sold the trains to another venue that still has a universal mobility monorail in service. Can't think of another reason why they would ship them off in a flatbed truck.
  10. Lots of cities have turned to parking taxes as a way to create new revenue too. I know LA has one. Didn't Kings Island have to sue over this issue as well?
  11. ^CP3 is actually only 6 feet tall, yet still managed to lead the Hornets in rebounds.
  12. Just wanted to second that thought. I walk by Staples Center lots almost every night, and the price varies depending on the event. The lowest I have ever seen is $8 for a lot on the other side of LA Live, and the highest I have seen is $40 for that same lot. Around the Coliseum, lots range from $20-200 depending on USC's opponent and how close the lot is to the stadium. The Rose Bowl only charges $10, but they double & triple park cars on the golf course and it's a HUGE pain in the ass to get out at the end of the night. FWIW, for all those places that offer "free" parking...I would be willing to bet some of the cost of that "free" parking went into the price of your ticket. So if Six Flags made parking free, but jacked up the price of their tickets/season passes...people would still bitch. Six Flags has a right to conduct their business however they chose to do so. Don't go if the parking fee is going to negatively impact you.
  13. I am not trying to start an argument or anything like that. I just want to state my reason behind buying one. . . First of all, you are totally right. You do not see nearly as many any more. They are huge, and very difficult to drive in traffic, or try to fit into parking spaces. But I like that. I like the size of the car, and I love the challenge of trying to drive it on a day to day basis. Second of all, the gas mileage is not as bad as most people make it out to be. The gas mileage is very comparable to a Dodge Ram, a Ford Expedition, a Nissan Armada, or a Cadillac Escalade, and you see many more of those cars than you do Hummer's. (After Driving one for a week in day today life my average MPG was 12.9, while my mother averages 13 in her Ram, and the Escalade that I drove for a week averaged 11.2) Price? . . . I would NEVER spend 60k on a car. This one is preowned, its a 2007 and it is in the Mid 20's. So as I have been shopping and saving for a car, I have also been doing my research on cars, and comparing the cars that I was debating between. In the end the Hummer came out on top. ~Matt No mention of the fact you claimed you used to own one? Or was it two? Or three? You posted in July of 2006 how you finally got your 2007 H3, then a month later posted how you wrecked your 2006 h3 and special ordered a 2008 h3. Seems like a pretty important fact to overlook in justifying your decision.
  14. Wait, the refs allowed the Caps to win a series? How'd that happen?
  15. ^If they were forced to do it that way, they most likely share some of the blame. Typically ride manufacturers will have required maintenance things that must be done daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly or after a certain amount of cycles have passed. Magic could have scheduled the bigger items to be spaced apart, so 2 trains wouldn't both be overdue at the same time.
  16. That seems like poor scheduling to me. But it is good they are back up to 2-trains now.
  17. Honestly, Shapiro would be a good short term solution for Cedar Fair. They desperately need someone who will catch them up to the rest of the industry in "extra" stuff that generates revenue without a ton of additional cost. Stuff like advertising in the parks, front of the line passes, VIP Tours, etc.
  18. ^The city of Anaheim has a long history of only supporting winners. Nobody cared about the Angels prior to their world series win either. Ducks were 23rd in NHL attendance this year.
  19. ^^Gronaland probably had far less regulatory stuff to worry about too. I'm thinking you're right about missing Memorial Day!
  20. I'll be there Tuesday and Thursday. And just for good measure, the Laker game on Wednesday too! Hopefully the Kings won't give up 21 takeaways again! It would be nice if Dustin Penner could actually show up too.
  21. Which other parks in their market are closed? Just because it is a fact Six Flags is being cheap doesn't mean everyone should be OK with it. I've seen firsthand how much work can be done to a coaster in a week. I do actually have some firsthand knowledge of the maintenance department at SFMM. It CAN be done. Six Flags choosing not to do it is a reflection of the new management team. It's probably going to lead them right back into bankruptcy, but that's a story for another day... The park is now open daily. It's spring break (which is the only reason I visited the park: my friend was on spring break). It's extremely frustrating for any guest to have 1 train running on any of the rides.
  22. ^It doesn't add up because SFMM doesn't want to pay to get it done. There are vendors they could turn to, or better yet, they could easily hire more people to get the job done. Stop making excuses. It's a business decision they are choosing to make. The cost to rehab the train probably fair outweighs the amount of money lost to pissed off guests. It's totally in line with the new managements emphasis on finances, but please don't try to spin it like it is some unique situation that's out of their control.
