  1. That financing model is just ever so slightly on the sketchy side....
  2. I honestly just love the fact parks have taken Disney's cue after all these years and turned seasonal food events into major marketing items.
  3. They absoultely are. Disney has stated many times they don't want to be associated with gambling. This has come up many times with their cruise ships and why you don't see casinos on any of Disney Cruise Lines. I still don't buy that as the reason for trying to get out of this deal though. I understand them being anti gambling for anything that carries the Disney brand (the same way they won't release R rated movies under Disney label), but this is slightly different IMO since it's not directly Disney branded. Really believe it goes back to the place just being sketchy and Fox/Disney wanting out because it will damage the brand. This was 2-3 years ago now, but someone I know who was brought in as one of the vendors in an important role did not hesitate to say that he left after a few months because of what a mess the project was. The wording in the Universal contract says something along the lines of "the area must be kept up to current industry standards," which is why you saw Spiderman get 4K projectors and the complete re-build of Hulk...Don't think Genting is even doing that currently, so... The Seminole tribe was also a huge backer of that proposition. In that case, IMO, Disney was just looking to block competition.
  4. I doubt they are worried about competition or being associated with a casino. More than likely this goes back to what was discussed earlier: is the quality up to what they feel the Marvel brand should be now?
  5. It's taking over that space plus some of Flik's. It's not just throwing a new show in the theater. Will be an all new ride. They haven’t bulldozed it’s tough to be a bug and it closed a lot earlier than fliks fun fair. What makes you think this will be a whole new ride? Fun fact: if you save the walls of a building, it counts as a modification instead of a new structure. That saves property taxes and changes permitting process. Not saying that’s what they will do, but the point is that demolition not starting yet isn’t an indication of anything.

  7. I think it will. Accounting isn't as simple as "we spent X amount of money on the place, so we don't turn a profit until we've made X amount of money back."
  8. I am thrilled to see Disney getting back to major investments in the theme parks. Disney World is going to be the place to be when all is said and done over the next 5 years.
  9. Locking this because this map is just a photoshopped Disney map and nothing has actually been announced about the 4th Universal gate.
  10. Sadly no luck, so secondary market it is. Or just visit Orlando and pray for a lottery win!
  11. I hope we don't soon find out they are only doing maintenance because of another incident...
  12. I haven't seen Hamilton...might have to try and tie an Orlando vacation into it!
  13. Don't believe they are in the portable ride market anymore.
  14. Hold up, it’s 2018 and six flags doesn’t allow beards? Even Disney let that go.
  15. They are like the awkward cousin your mom forces you to be nice to in Los Angeles. We don't want them here. We know they belong to San Diego but Dean Spanos isn't rich enough to finance a stadium on his own...
  16. But if guests traveling to Orlando already have their $7/month pass from Six Flags...a built in market is already created. Six Flags would fit in perfectly with the "I-Drive" crowd.
  17. When I worked at SFMM many years ago (during the height/end of the spending spree that ultimately led to BK), Busch representatives visited the park numerous times with the intent being to check out the park for a potential purchase. Are we at the point a purchase is imminent? No way. But I have no doubt someone from Six Flags at least explored (or is still exploring...) the option.
  18. What a brilliant business plan! Have some "fun" and get your money back when the hookers come to spend money on food/drink/parking/etc. ?
  19. Disney is much more "hands on" in the development of rides. Essentially a manufacturer has to agree to being a subcontractor to Disney instead of running a whole project as they normally would. Disney and Vekoma obviously have a very good working relationship where both parties benefit, so why mess with a good thing?
  20. November 6 was the day Will Byers disappeared in the show.
  21. There's no way they get beyond this...sucks for the rest of his family that this man single handily destroyed their families business and legacy.
