  1. Oh wow, that's really extensive. I don't know that Sea World has the money to get it up to Orlando standards at the moment, so it could be just fixing a bunch of stuff on a 15 year old, mechanically complicated ride. Would be cool if they did add theming though. There isn't a show building to add anything...All they could do is change the projections inside the silo.
  2. I hope Anaheim PD is ready with riot gear... I am honestly much more intrigued by how they intend to do crowd control. The park is already bursting at the seams since it was designed in the 50's and the main pathways have not seen many changes since then despite the increases in capacity... Also intrigued by the inevitable price increases to help with pushing AP's away...
  3. There was never anything remotely risky about Pacific Park. That was place always "played it safe" as it's basically a small Morgan coaster with an assortment of off-the-shelf Zamperla-like kiddie rides. The park could practically run itself as far as the attractions go and the safety of those rides. City Museum is a totally different type of animal. We always said that City Museum only existed because corporate America and lawyers hadn't discovered it yet... ...and now they have. That's what I was getting at. I'm bummed that I never made it to City Museum before this ownership change, because I highly highly doubt there won't be changes coming. I'm sure whatever the safety department at Premier Parks is called is going to have a field day there... Also seems like this sale is the result of one of the founders estate and the other founder going through a legal battle over the profits.
  4. I'm not really sure Pacific Parks success is due to anything other than the fact the Santa Monica Pier is a famous landmark. The most significant thing the park has done since it opened was replace the ferris wheel. Now if they put a kick ass roller coaster in the space currently occupied by the trapeze school.... Heck, It's probably more famous now as a Pokemon Go hotspot than for the amusement park...
  5. If I'm at the point where I'd have to take a bus to connect to something else, that's where I give up and just do a car or Uber directly. I put my time in living in Boston for several years taking the T or Ubering, only using my car once every 2-3 weeks or less. Generally, if there's an adequate place to park and I'm not planning on getting stupid drunk, I jut go with the car option. You weren't the one asking about if it is possible to do the two parks without a car though. I answered with how it is possible for the person asking...
  6. If you really wanted to do it with no car, the combination of metrolink, metro trains, and the metro 460 bus route would work.
  7. The only counterpoint I would offer to that is that unless all the licensing and advertising deals are ironclad, there would be risk associated with relying on so much revenue from outside sources outside the core business. That being said, the core business is memberships and selling stuff inside the park, so as long as that is still working they are gravy.
  8. Also a fun fact, the new IPO appears to have been launched for $9.75. Unless Six Flags is secretly the next Enron, a 5x increase in stock price in a span of 8 years is a sign the company is being well run from a financial standpoint. Heck, buying it now would be considered a "firesale" considering the stock touched $72 when the market was at it's highest point in September. Separating your bias against their operation from their financial performance is important here...
  9. They went from broke to increasing dividends for 8 straight years...their stock price is higher than Cedar Fair, Merlin, Sea World...
  10. From a financial standpoint, Six Flags is a very well run company. They manage their labor and operational costs very well. What that means for the guest experience? Well...I think most people know what they are getting when they are forking over the $7-20/month for their membership.
  11. My coworkers and I have become somewhat obsessed with escape rooms...super excited to try this out! Crossroads other two games (Hex Room & Fun House) are also great! Fun House is a really good beginner game and Hex Room is a unique concept if you have a bigger group!
  12. It's almost as if every school in the country is out this week...
  13. They are a few years late with this, but that is a really cool thing to offer to all guests. I did something similar for Sea World San Diego a few years ago on a media tour and it was fascinating. This should have been the immediate response to Blackfish, showing how much overall good they do...
  14. "It’s The Merriest Christmas Show Ever, Charlie Brown!” is a great show, as is the holiday version of Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies. Food is also great, though I wish during media events they would not just label it, but also say where it is available.
  15. I agree! Assuming they'd manage the villages as well, so their resort footprint expands and the commute lessens for their guests and workers.
  16. This story reeks of someone desperately trying to get followers on Twitter. Especially when the reports state there was hydraulic fluid everywhere, which wouldn't be possible unless Disney was running the pumps...
  17. And there you have the reason they have to resort to 16 year old ride ops. Many of whom will probably call in sick...
  18. Let’s hope single rider and grouping are not just a product of the busy holiday season.
  19. Clearly it is TobyMac and not Simple Plan.
  20. I have always believed that DisneyQuest was WAY ahead of its time. It's really a shame they just left it to rot and didn't continue to invest in keeping it up to date. This does seem like the next iteration of it with a new IP.
  21. Sounds a lot like the former NFL experience in Times Square.
  22. I don’t believe cities should contribute anything more than un-used land, a quick permitting process, and perhaps a reasonable tax break. When cities get into the business of owning the stadium and renting back to a teamor issuing a large amount of bonds, they always lose.
  23. Never made it to the vet, so my only other experience with multi purpose stadiums was San Diego. Went to one baseball game there as a kid and multiple Holiday Bowls...I will be glad when that era of stadiums officially ends. Though cities did have the right idea back then, only getting ripped off once by pro teams instead of multiple times. Side note: San Diego deserves a team. Great city. We don't want the Chargers here anyways. Oakland will be paying $25 mil/year for "Mt. Davis" until 2025. You will be paying for the Raiders stadium anytime you visit Vegas in the form of increased hotel tax, and Vegas is banking on there not being a recession so they collect enough cash from that to service the $645 million in bonds they issued...
