  1. That reminds me of an article on historic landmarks a San Diego Architectural magazine did in 1980 when mentioning the the Giant Dipper: "Now there is talk of restoring the roller coaster. There always is.". Not to mention a whole bunch of other Doubting Thomas opinions and look what happened. Unnecessary comments are so easily dismissed. Sorry. I’m certainly not an expert, but I would imagine that the cost of building a pier in California alone is not cheap, let alone building and operating the ride. Hope your mysterious investors have deep pockets—-if they even exist.
  2. Famous last words..."Investors are waiting."
  3. Why would anyone write to city council members about a project with no land and no money?
  4. green lantern has been down about a year. well, i think so, from what other say. i don't pay any attention to is since i plan to never ride it again. lol neal thurman said at west coast bash that viper is getting a "new control system". but i've also seen pictures with the chain missing. so maybe it's also getting a new chain at the same time. i doubt new trains or retracking. neal also joked about it getting new trains with solid steel over the shoulder restraints. Chain could have to come off for new wiring/sensors.
  5. More fire barge, less boring globe! The show is great, but has definitely run its course. With all the advancements in projections, lighting, sound, and pyrotechnic technology since the show first debuted, the replacement is sure to be incredible.
  6. All of the specialty beers at Universal parks (the Duffs and the stuff in the Potter lands) are actual microbrews from Florida Beer Company. You lost me at saying LA Haunted Hayride puts effort into their attraction. There definitely is a lot more dead spaces this year, and the scares are the same scares you have seen over and over again---but the set design is still top notch IMO. I describe HHN as bringing the Movies/TV shows to life with some scares while the others you listed are more in the traditional Haunted house mold.
  7. I would much rather have Topper Track than the GCI makeover.
  8. If you get there right as they begin entry and head straight to the backlot then yes, you can pull it off without an express pass. But I'm talking get in the gate, walk as fast as you can through the park, get to the backlot, do those haunts, immediately pull a 180 and head towards the lower lot, do those haunts, then head to the upper lot and do those haunts. If you start up top you're gonna run into 90+ minute waits for anything in the lower lot and backlot. Stranger Things was almost immediately at a 90 min wait as part of the early entry. Express Lines were 5-10 min all night.
  9. You haven't been to USH in awhile then.
  10. Those prices aren't bad for theme park pricing.
  11. Please do not show up to any park under the influence of anything. We’re not going to discuss this further on here.
  12. They should let you smoke a blunt in the designated smoking areas. Get a THC e-cig in fruit or another neutral scent/flavor. This is why we don’t get nice things. It is not legal to partake in these things in public.
  13. I've found that to always be the case when they share properties. Each creative team has their own takes on the same scenes.
  14. 2-3 new mazes per year is the norm for Knott's. The good thing is that they have really upped their production in the last 5 years, so the returning mazes don't feel nearly as tired as they used to.
  15. Love that they are beefing up the rides collection. Wish they would do more to theme the whole area/add more shade. As far as the animals? I would love for them to redo the entire back half of the park into a safari. The older enclosures are depressing in how small they are.
  16. Not selling booze in Disneyland has cost them millions of dollars a year in revenue, so good for them for finally getting with the times. Let the "But Walt..." bitching commence.
  17. Aside from the random choice to use West Coast Customs as the theme, the ride looks fun.
  18. Not surprising at all if you read my post right above yours. But city got more than even I would have guessed. City had been Disney's bitch for years...finally found a way to fight back and actually won. My guess is Disney will still end up paying the $18/hr as part of the next union negotiations in 3 years, but by not taking the tax incentives they are clearly trying to work around the perpetual inflation or 2% annual minimum wage increase that comes with the law after the $18/hr minimum is hit.
  19. Parkbros posted a video on YouTube a few hours ago. Apparently they've been asking a lot of the employees and the general consensus is that it's gonna be a "family themed" coaster. Magic Mountain better start polishing up that silver platter that they're gonna hand their Thrill Capital of the World title over to Cedar Point on. I don't know who or what a parkbros is, so I'm not going to bother to look them up... I'll just agree with Robb's sentiment that it's stupid to ask line employees what is going on.
  20. It's buried in the fine print of every ticket you purchase for anything (including theme parks) that things are subject to change. People are dumb.
  21. Granted this is all twitter heresay, but what is being put out is that the producer of the event asked for more money in order to support his other venture (SAW escape room—-supposedly isn’t doing well) and MGM said no.
  22. Being in Los Angeles, a 12AM video drop doesn't mean anything. 9PM event would mean it can be covered by the local 10PM and 11PM newscasts and get some real attention.
  23. It's hilarious fanboys are still on the debunked Mack going to SFMM notion. Maybe you should get your facts straight before you post. Those are both S&S coasters not Mack smart guy. Both of you need to keep the conversation respectful. Now back to speculating....
  24. I think you made the right decision by getting Chip & Dale instead!
  25. I have no doubt the hotel will still be built. Disney is leaving hundreds of millions of dollars a year in revenue on the table by not building a desperately needed new hotel on their property. It is entirely possible that no one understood the legal ramifications of moving the address until recently. A new deal will be reached where the city gets a little more back (hopefully that deal doesn't screw the CM's: if the ballot measure passes in November raising Anaheim Resort District minimum wage to $18/hr by 2022, I have no doubt Disney will try to exempt themselves from it) and everyone can say they won.
