To be honest, I also like the locker policy since I normally don't carry anything with me. However, I just wish that hats would be included as well. We've seen countless people wearing hats on the coasters at Six Flags Great Adventure this year and almost got hit by one on Nitro yesterday. At the speed coasters travel, a hat can hurt someone. I don't like the idea of people just being asked to remove them and put them in the shirts and/or sit on them either because many of those people take them out after the train leaves the station and put them back on. I don't understand some people obsession with needing to wear a hat 24/7.

Kemah Boardwalk and Bullet Discussion Thread
Sue replied to eddie200330's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Is 30-40 minutes the typical wait for Bullet on a Saturday evening? Is that the way it is all day Saturday, or is it less if you get there in the afternoon? -
Congrats to the happy couple, Derek and Nicole!

Sue replied to BeemerBoy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Wow, a tortoise actually exists at Animal Kingdom? Every time we go there, that area is always empty. Was there just that one, or do they have more than one? -
Stealing some of my pictures there, Jay?

For food, I'd suggest trying a strawberry ice cream sundae. I think I read in Tim O'Brien's amusement park guide that the sundae was good so that's what we got when we went to Waldameer. I'm not a big ice cream person, but it was very good.

Awww, how sweet, Craig! Richard, I'd definitely love to hear how your trip goes. I'll try to remember to check your website for updates in May. Question--how are you going to be at Sesame Place one day and Cliff's the next? Rastus, we have been to Schlitterbahn before and it was awesome, but we're skipping it this time around. We also visited Sandy Lake last time so that one is getting a pass this time as well. Last time we were in Texas was June so I'm sure the temperature should be similar to last time even though we're going a week or 2 later.

Wow, all the people on these forums and no one has any advice? Help a woman out! All I get is one answer and from Craig of all people(j/k Craig!).

We're planning a trip for mid-June in which we're going to visit the parks of Texas and New Mexico. For anyone familiar with the parks/areas, have any of these parks offered discounts in the past--Wonderland, Joyland, Kemah Boardwalk, Western Playland, or Cliff's? We never realized what weird hours some of these parks had in western TX and NM. All of these smaller parks are only open from about 7-10 at night and Cliff's is only open 11-4 on the day we'll be there. In addition to those parks, we'll also be visiting the SF parks and Sea World. We've been to the SF parks and Sea World before, but the other parks will be new to us. If anyone in those areas would like to meet up, we'd love to meet some TPR members. Also, if anyone has suggestions on non-coaster activities or sights to see in those areas, please post your thoughts here. We definitely plan on visiting Riverwalk which we loved the last time we were there and touring a couple baseball stadiums and maybe even seeing games if the teams are at home.

Since this thread is about San Antonio, does anyone know of any decent discounts for Sea World(i.e. not just a couple dollars off)? Our friends who were visitng last October said someone gave them coupons out of a local paper for 1/2 price so I'm trying to find something along those lines.

Missed Credits: Coasters you COULD have...
Sue replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only ones that I intentionally missed were: Wild & Wooly Toboggan at Little Amerricka-We were there with the ACE Con and the line was insanely long with many breakdowns. Plus, it felt like 110 degrees and the line was in the sun. No thanks, especially since I hate those rides to begin with. Vampire at Chessington-The park was mobbed with school kids and we had limited time. We only had time to ride one coaster so we choose Rattlesnake since the line was a bit shorter. The hardest coaster to get otherwise has been Boomerang at Wild Adventures. Every time we've been to Wild Adventures, it's always closed for maintenance. -

It's 2008! Where are you headed this year?
Sue replied to OldJJman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Our definite plans for 2008 are: Lake Compounce SF New England SF Great Adventure Dorney Hershey Knoebels SF Fiesta Texas SF over Texas Kemah Boardwalk Joyland in Lubbock, TX Wonderland in Amarillo, TX Western Playland Cliff's Amusement Park Sea World San Antonio Canada's Wonderland Martin's Fantasy Island Busch Gardens Africa Cedar Point Delgrosso's Waldameer Canobie Lake Other possibilities are: Kings Dominion Wild Adventures Cypress Gardens Sea World Orlando Dania Beach Las Vegas Lagoon Quassy I just reached 700 coasters in October so it'll probably be a while before I get any more milestones. -
Photo TR: Derek and Nicole back in Florida

You don't even have to go through the whole Edge of Africa(unless you wanted to) to see those turtles. They're just right behind Tut's Tomb. -

Love the turtle pictures, Derek! Did you see the African Spur tortoises behind Tut's Tomb? Those are our favorite ones, especially since they always seem to be putting on "shows". -
I also wanted Jen and Nate eliminated and would've loved to see Jen's reaction to being u-turned. As much as I liked the Goths, they eliminated themselves with their mistakes.

PTR Busch Gardens Tampa 12/9 & 12/10/07
Sue replied to Sue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I do agree that Alpengeist is good as well. I especially love the snow/ski related theming on it. -
PTR Busch Gardens Tampa 12/9 & 12/10/07
Sue replied to Sue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, we did ride Montu 54 times. I'd say it's way better than Alpengeist and I've never experience any roughness on Montu. The tortoise in the picture didn't score that time since he was on the side instead of the back. However, on Monday when I didn't bring my camera in, they were putting on quite the "show". -
The coasters were running well. The only exceptions were Swamp Thing which never runs well(we wouldn't have even bothered with it if Scott didn't need the credit) and Galaxy Spin which turned out to be the roughest spinning Crazy Mouse we've been on.

PTR 4 Disney Parks in One Day 12/8/07
Sue replied to Sue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Test Track was something we planned on, but it had a long line even for single riders which I what we usually do. Since we had ridden it a couple times on previous visits, we decided to pass this time. It is possible to hit all 4 parks in one day as long as you plan it out in advance and know exactly what you want to do. We did miss not being able to see Soren in Germany though. -
Yup, they were actually all working for part of the time at least. They eventually closed off the back row, but we had already ridden before that. Plus, I think it was fixed by the time we returned later in the day.

We had 2 free days at Busch Gardens this time due to the bad experience we had in 2006 where they told us nothing would be closed, yet Kumba was closed for painting. It's still one of our favorite parks in the US with 2 excellent steel coasters in Montu and Kumba, plus lots of turtle displays. Sunday was our relaxing day spend with our friends, Bill and Jill, and Monday was our crazy riding day. It's a rare sight these days, but on Sunday Gwazi was actually running 2 trains on each side and dueling just about every time. Ride Count Montu: 54 Kumba: 8 Sheikra: 3 Scorpion: 2 Cheetah Chase: 1 Gwazi Tiger: 2 Gwazi Lion: 3 Train: 1 Here's a few pictures: Our #1 steel coaster, Montu: The spot where we got engaged: Sheikra: Jungala construction: Our friends, Jill and Bill, on the train: Tortoises: How cute! Last time we were at Cypress Gardens in 2004, we only had an hour or two to spend there. This time we planned to spend half the day there before catching our flight home. It turns out that even that wasn't enough as we would've liked to stay longer to ride Starliner some more and to see their Christmas lights at night. The sad thing is that there weren't very many people at the park at all. Almost all of the rides that we went on were just myself, Rich, and our friend Scott riding. The employees were very friendly and unlike other FL parks, gladly encouraged rerides. We were able to ride Starliner 26 times with most of them being in the front row since no one was ever waiting. We had ridden Starliner when it was at Miracle Strip in Panama City. We enjoyed it then, but it's running even better now. The only thing missing is the tunnel. It was a great half day at the park and we look forward to returning in the near future. Is anyone here??? Starliner: Triple Hurricane: Since it was Scott's first visit to Cypress, he needed to get the "awesome" Fiesta Express credit: Flyers and Galaxy Spin Crazy Mouse: One of the parks original rides--the Sunshine Sky Adventure which is one of only 3 in the world: The Gardens:
