Dania Beach Hurricane Declares Bankruptcy

Ten million to refurb it after it's been sitting for a year? This seems, um, wrong. By those calculations it would cost more than the mineral value of most planets to restore Kentucky Kingdom... dt -
Your views of Happy Valley are like mine: nice looking park, horrible operations and policies. Especially the staggered ride openings, which make zero sense. At least it was nice outside for you that day! dt

^I suppose "exciting" is a good word for that. I'd also suggest "the most frightening thing ever" or "I was easily able to hear the upstop wheels hitting the track, since my heart stopped beating at that point". dt -

^Totally agree with you about the Giants. I could see them going back to the Super Bowl. I didn't get to see much football, though I saw a good portion of the Ravens game. Sorry, Baltimore people, but the Ravens are not going to be doing anything unless they really improve. They were very lucky to win that game yesterday. And I say this as someone that's very happy whenever the Cowboys and/or the Redskins lose. dt -
^I thought it was good, but overhyped. The last fifteen minutes or so are amazing. dt

^I have quite the amazing McDonald's story from when I was driving to Knoebel's a few years ago, but I only tell it at parties and speaking engagements. That part of PA is terrifying. I'm sure most of the people there do believe that cell phones are the devil's tool or something equally bizarre. Pittsburg is cool, though. I do need to get back to Kennywood some time. It's been a few years. dt -

^That thing was horrid, with some of the worst restraints ever. I won't cry if I hear someone accidentally rammed a bulldozer into it a hundred times or so. dt -

PA seriously has some of the most backwards and outdated liquor laws in the US. It's also a much more conservative state than many people know, unless they've lived there. I'm not surprised at all they have such a dumb system in place in the park. As someone that grew up in PA, this quote from a book I read recently pretty much sums it up: Pennsylvania - Philadelphia on one side, Pittsburg on the other, and Kentucky in between. dt -

Gotta love Intamin hate. It's like they come to your house in the middle of the night and slap you around with leftover Skyrush restraints. I'm happy there's at least one manufacturer out there that tries new things and pushes the envelope and produces rides with actual forces, rather than ones that create an experience much like sitting in your office chair. Time will tell whether or not Mack can compete in the major coaster market. I liked, but didn't love, Blue Fire. Bot I do see the potential in this sort of coaster for something wonderful. dt -
I've probably seen about a thousand or so bands live at this point, but I can say that Peter Gabriel last night is easily in the top ten best shows I've ever seen. The production, the sounds, the music, everything was perfect. Of course, playing all of SO as the latter half of the show made it extra-amazing. And this was easily the best use of live video I've ever seen at a concert. Last night was the last show of the tour, but whenever he tours again, I highly recommend going, especially if you've never seen him live. dt

Would love to see even one Yankees fan admit that the Orioles were a tough opponent and give them some credit, but that will never happen. I was sad that the O's lost on Friday, of course, but the Yankee pitching was just too good for them that day. I still had the most fun watching the O's this year than any other year since I moved to Baltimore. Will be interesting to see what happens next year. And now my interest in baseball ends until next April... dt
