Vortex can rot in hell...lol Seriously though, it was my least liked coaster in the park. It's crazy I enjoyed all the Vekoma's more than that aging Arrow creation. I appreciate the history and look of it, as it's very picturesque. There are a lot of pretty coasters that are just horrible in regards to rider experience...Vortex is at the top of that list for me. -
Yes. Numerous people (including passholders who got a special deal on one recently) have bought them. I was there Saturday and quite a bit were being sold along with other IF souvenirs. Whether or not the park needed a rapids ride, it would have been nice to have it open when I was there on Saturday as it was hotter than hell. I rarely ride these type rides, but would have that visit since it's new (I've been going to BGT since '07 and have never been on Congo River Rapids...lol). A place called "SeaWorld" should have had more water rides long before now. They are just now catching up to the other 2 SW parks with this.

Best Roller Coaster you rode THIS MONTH!

Mako! It's still the best B&M hyper I've ridden so far. I rode the back the first time in my usual seat. However a line was forming with one trains ops (not sure why they waited until after noon to add another) so I rode in the 4th row the 2nd time. While it's still better in the back to me, the 4th row was still great. I love having this coaster in FL at one of my home parks! -

What is your next park?

SeaWorld Orlando on Saturday. We're using our bring a friend tickets and taking our grand nephew for his birthday and some other family. Hopefully the shows, Carousel, train and Antarctica will be enough to keep him occupied (with Sesame Street under construction). Last time we took him 2 years ago he enjoyed a couple of the flats, just wouldn't get on Shamu Express. This time he won't have that option...lol Maybe we can get him to ride Journey To Atlantis since he's 7 now. -

They also offered it last year for Hurricane Irma evacuees (only on Sunday however...still nice to do). https://www.wildadventures.com/Media-Room/Press-Releases/2017-Hurricane-Irma -

It will be a major rain event in the areas near Carowinds/Charlotte at most. There will be localized flooding near bodies of water and some streets in lower lying areas. There maybe downed trees from the excess moisture and pop up thunderstorms associated with it. This is going by a live update I just watched from the local NBC affiliate in Charlotte. They don't expect winds to be more than 10-20mph by the time it gets near there. Friday night may or may not happen with SCarowinds, but looks like Saturday & Sunday will be a washout with the park closed unless Florence turns more north. -

Last year was the first year (since 2005 anyway). The park was decorated for the holidays and had shows, Ice Skating , photo ops and more. The whole park wasn't open. Fury 325 and the area around it wasn't open. However, there are Christmas lights up in that area (put up recently) so there may be a chance it (maybe Hurler) could open this year. The only large coaster open was Afterburn. It's my belief they didn't want to try and have too much open to see if it would be successful there. It would seem more rides may be open this year. They'll likely post the information once Haunt is over on what attractions will be open. As far as the weather, it likely won't be too cold. Maybe a sweatshirt is needed, but temps can be in the upper 70s on Thanksgiving (I lived there for 30 years). Here's a map showing what was open last year (it's a bit small, but it's all I could find) -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Most of the schools in the area end June 13th or 14th (with some later). Richmond City Schools however is June 7th. Kings Dominion goes to daily operations starting Memorial Day based on previous calendars (which would start May 27th 2019). I would try to plan any weekdays starting the Tuesday that week or the following week (through June 7) if you're able to for the least crowds. The week after that shouldn't be too bad either. -

Maybe the park being closed has something to do with it not operating today... I'm pretty sure it was understood that they knew this since yesterday (Labor Day) was the last day of daily operations. -

Well...I'm 5'8" with a few extra pounds and was at CP for 3 days and left with no pain or bruises after riding all the coasters multiple times. Maybe "I'm" doing it wrong leaving so unscathed. Anyway, I've seen numerous people say the (SV) restraints were uncomfortable among the many coaster groups on FB and other forums. A good portion of those were much taller than me. (6'1" and up). I can see why someone who is over that height may have issues because...well they have longer legs with less room. I can't explain those of a more average height and their issues, but we all experience these rides in our own ways. Maybe the restraint wasn't low enough...too tight? At the end of the day, let's just all have the best day ever! -

^Most, it not all the CF parks offered the Dollar Days this weekend. It's the last blast of summer and they've been doing it there for awhile. -

They were/are testing that with Twisted Timbers @ KD. I wouldn't be surprised if it were added to TT and Steel Vengeance next year. -

The entrance will be where the Peach Basket stand currently sits. The ride itself will take up a portion of that end of Coney Mall's midway and run alongside Racer. With the description given and from others who were at Racer's backstage tour recently, it doesn't appear to be using DA at all (at least not the pathway on the other side of Racer). https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2018/august/construction-on-kings-mills-antique-autos-to-begin-next-week -

Not sure what more seasoned riders best seat is (could be the same as mine), but I rode in the 2nd to last row of the train, right seat each time I rode and it was awesome. It was a non-wheel seat (as are all the middle rows of each car).
