Keep in mind the park is only open 10-5 due to Scarowinds. The crowds should be manageable, however with Carolina Harbor closed for the season, it may seem busier than a summer Saturday. I think you'll be fine as long as you arrive at opening and hit up Nighthawk first thing. If wait times get crazy you could always get Fast Lane if it's in your budget, but wouldn't buy it before arriving in case it's not busy enough to warrant the cost. -

When you are addressing the person above you, you only need to put one ^. ^^ means you were talking to me...even though I'm smart enough to know you weren't. Just an observation if you want to get things "right" -

What is this Vortex plaza everyone speaks of? The section is called Carolina Showplace. Vortex never had a plaza. Afterburn was the first coaster to actually have a plaza in the park if I'm not mistaken. It's what was listed on the permit for renovation. I know the section is called Carolina Showplace. It was my home park for 30 years... -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

I know they are vouching to the state of Indiana for starting public school later next year. Indianapolis schools went back July 31st and most public southern Indiana schools went back August 9th. That restricts HW's operating schedule to only weekends for 2017 from this point on. JULY 31st! Seriously??? Some of the schools in the Atlanta area (causing SFOG to go to weekend only operation) and Savannah area (where my niece and nephews go to school) went back on July 31st. -
Nighthawk is in SC. However there is a little bit between the holding brakes and station that goes into NC (shown below). Since the station and majority of the coaster is in SC and under it's jurisdiction for inspection , I personally would count it as a SC coaster. For comparison, Fury and Goldrusher also are in both states, but their stations are in NC and under NC inspection so I count them as NC coasters.

[Edited first part out as it was posted as I was making this post] Planet Snoopy Expansion is the most likely addition for 2018. They are moving the Carousel to Vortex Plaza to make room for such an expansion (according to plans filed and seen on another site) The bus gift screams getting one of these as part of the expansion: -

^It's at 11:00am next Wednesday in the park. It doesn't specify where in their post, but I'm sure that will be mentioned later. -

My partner and I aren't fond of country music either, and I really don't know Dolly's music beyond a few songs. She wasn't why I have been to Dollywood anyway. I knew the park was very well themed and had attractions that interested me. There is so much to do there even outside the coasters and shows. I could just spend a day or two taking pictures and going through the shops. If your spouse doesn't find enough in the park to stay occupied or to their liking, there is so much to do outside the park in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg & Smoky Mountains that should more than make up for it after you get your credits @ Dollywood...lol -
