Dollywood Discussion Thread

sigh - I never said he did. People were being kind of a$$holes many pages back when referring to the PR department and I said something about it then. never mind - forget it - this thread, about one of the best parks around, has become toxic. -
Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Was catching up on this thread and was reminded of something when the food discussion was going on. If you get the chance, the Red Velvet Fried Oreo's are MANNA FROM HEAVEN. Seriously - my mouth went into shock from the sheer joy of them and I'm pretty sure I had multiple foodgasms. -
Dollywood Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh no no. According to this thread there are NO PR nightmares and saying anything negative is insulting and whining. This park and RMC has gotten the biggest "get out of jail free" card on this NOT DEBACLE. No. Saying negative things and expressing disappointment is perfectly natural and acceptable. Actually saying Insulting things about the PR department at Dollywood (who read this thread and have been amazing to TPR members and to the general public in the past) is and should be most definitely be noted as it is rude. It isn't about having a negative opinion or being disappointed - it is about general manners and decency. I am willing to BET that the people at the park are MUCH more disappointed in the delays and issues that anyone here. I'm glad to hear that the bugs are being worked out and look forward to heading up there later this year or next spring. I've never had a bad experience in Dollywood and can't wait to get back!! -
Skyplex Orlando Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So where, in relation to the Orlando Eye, is this going? I can look at the maps, but am having trouble placing it in my mind. I'm looking forward to watching this go up (like I did with the Eye) and can't wait to give it a spin. -
Rye Playland Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Oh, the crowd at SFA was much, much scarier than the crowd at RYE that year. I, personally, found the Rye crowd to be Colorful and interesting (except for the ride-op on their Derby Racer which, I think, really wanted to murder us.) -
Rye Playland Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^How is the crowd there these days? Although I felt at right at home (which must say some odd things about me,)- I think some of the members of the 2008 trip were kind of frightened. Rye Stab-Land was the moniker and I think we voted to NOT leave Tony there when he was late for the bus because he would have been murdered -
Walt Disney World Epcot Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's great to see this ride being so popular and I'm sure Disney has plans to help with crowd flow. It isn't like the massive popularity is a surprise. I'm also very glad to see how they have integrated the characters and movies into the Norway pavilion without taking away from the actual Norway theme - it is very nicely and unobtrusively done. I'll get over there to check it out sometime - but am in no rush as the opening few weeks crowd will probably take away from the experience for me -

Knoebels Discussion Thread

^ Agreed, although during the 2014 TPR Trip - when a bunch of us were taking over the Flyers - the operator did get a bit upset with us, but that's probably because every tub was going perpendicular to the ground every few seconds . Watching a bunch of Theme Park People take over a Flyer is always a hoot. -
Dollywood Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The saving grace of the situation is the fact that Dollywood is such an amazing park. I know I would be disappointed if I had traveled there and Lightning Rod was down - but there is just so much to see and do (and eat) there that I would not leave unhappy. And to note - I really just don't understand people who do not get this. I'm not saying they are wrong (but they are ,) but to not be able to find AT LEAST a day's worth of things to enjoy while visiting Dollywood is just Science Fiction to me. Back on topic....the videos and pictures I've seen make me REALLY look forward to riding LR next time I visit. If you could actually ride it WHILE eating Cinnamon Bread...I'd be in Nirvana -
Going to march with the Orlando Strong folks in the St. Pete's Pride parade this weekend. Looking forward to it. They have buses going from Orlando to St. Petersburg and back so it will hopefully be an opportunity to meet some new people. It feels good to get involved Although I've been part of many Pride parades, my partner hasn't so this will be his first one. Until the Pulse shootings he has never felt inclined to be "involved" with the LGBT community, but that has now changed.

You guys do know that the PR department that you guys are insulting actually read and post to this forum, right? I understand the confusion and irritation, but perhaps a little politeness or tact is in order?? Just checking -
SDC 2016 Trip Report(s)!
jynx242 replied to DoinItForTheFame's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great pictures and reports! Makes me wish SDC weren't so far away from me. We went last year and had a blast, but that is a LONG damn car trip David -
^Agreed - I remember when the Wheelie was over by the Great Gasp (where Goliath is now) and was red, white and blue with a red, white and blue lighting scheme. That was before it replaced the Drunken Barrels in the Lickskillet section of the park. With all the talk of Splashwater Falls earlier, I was reminded of my "Employee Yearbook" and Splashwater was heavily featured since it was the new hotness that year. Also - the MindBender crew picture was of them sitting on the track, going up the inside of the loop

Shanghai Disneyland Grand Opening TR!

Thanks for taking the time to post the photos of your adventure!!! And as I think everyone else is thinking.... Tron, Tron, Tron, Tron, Tron, Tron..... It truly looks spectacular and I'm glad it appears to be getting off on a good note. Have fun on day 2 -
^Although I've been riding those Bumper Cars since I was a wee little theme park enthusiast, I'll have to admit I'm relieved. They always got a horrific line and, as posted before, they are not Knoebel's bumper cars. The idea for a Justice League dark ride fitting in there is a good one - taking that out will kind of get rid of the "Cotton States Exhibition" section of the park. It will be like there is a little bit of Dixie in the heart of Metropolis I still haven't gotten over the removal of the Wheelie though, so maybe I'm just cranky, old and weird.

Although Phoenix is tops for me, both Twister and Phoenix are pretty awesome - and I find them great compliments to each other. Twister has the laterals and Phoenix has the airtime. A couple of other notes: Stare in awe at the speed with which the Phoenix crew can dispatch a train - it is like science fiction or something - also, get night rides on this. Flying scooters, flying scooters, flying scooters, flying scooters - get some good snapping going on and these are far more thrilling than many roller coasters that are probably in your count - just sayin'. Enjoy talking to the employees there - especially the Pierogi ladies, they are all pretty awesome. Take the train that goes into the woods at night - terrifying
