  1. But that's just not fair! Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! ^Now I'll NEVER be a teen model!!
  2. Although I dearly want to fight you, I won't. Great report and it looks like you had a great time. I absolutely love Dollywood!! Thanks for sharing.
  3. ^Those are lovely. Thank you for sharing them. I love that odd little hump, jog to the right before Kumba's cobra roll. I don't know why, but I giggle as hard on that as I do on the amazing zero gee roll.
  4. Danny - great to see a report from you. They are always just a treat and you and your wife both look GREAT! Thanks for taking the time to share with us. David
  5. I think there are multiple reasons for SLC's not riding well. We've seen parks that can and have kept them running very well - but the majority seem to become rough and shuffly. I think it has to do with both the track and the trains together. It always feels to me that the trains just don't really track well on the Vekoma track they run on. You can see the gaps between the wheels and the track (expecially the "upstop" wheels,) which appears to be why they shuffle so much.
  6. Isn't that every weekend at SDC? We ended up there during a gospel festival a year or so ago and didn't really see an appreciable difference in crowd levels until Sunday morning. We were expecting it to be pretty dead until after church, but didn't realize that a huge church service was going on at sunrise at the park. Still not terrible though.
  7. I'll agree with "THE DROP" on Cyclops. That whole park is a lead up to that particular coaster moment - the rest is....meh Skyrush- first drop - don't know what it is, but about half way down, it decides that you would be better off somewhere in the middle of the pond or parking lot. I swear I thought it was trying to kill me. One of my favorites anywhere anytime.
  8. I think Intamin has shown us with Cheetah Hunt that it can "do the crap out of a family ride." I'm sure this will be tons of fun. David
  9. ^ Although not cheap by any means, isn't RMD re-doing a ride cheaper than say, ANYTHING by B&M or Intamin? I could be wrong - but I don't think I am
  10. I've heard generally positive reviews about the changes to the park over the last few years and will definitely re-visit at some point in the future. I was definitely one of the negative people about this park a while back - but that is because the TPR Trip that visited the park had a less than stellar visit. It wasn't about African American clientele or anything stupid like that. It was the fact that the employees were generally pretty rude, rides kept breaking down, nobody seemed to care about anything, etc... The PR people at the park were great and did what they could, but when the trip met at lunch, we decided we'd rather leave early and get to the next hotel than stay any longer. As I said - I've heard that they have done a good job turning that around and I look forward to another visit in the future.
  11. I don't kill them and my rational mind knows how much good they are overall. Then the irrational mind freaks the f&%k out and gets as far away as possible. Still don't kill them because A: that just wouldn't feel right and B: I'd have to get close enough to do so and the spider would probably kill me. D
  12. ^^ Bert - looks like you are having a lovely time!! Wish I were there! ^ Phil - I hope you feel better soon. I think it's time for stressful and bad things to stop happening to you. I think you have hit your quota for the year, wouldn't you agree?? David
  13. Although I'm sure people will like it - I won't be participating I love Acrophobia, but do suffer from pretty bad Arachnophobia. I'm scared S#*tless of spiders. Even fake cartoony or VR CGI ones just plain bother me. Oh well- more rides on Mindbender I guess
  14. I'm one of the Skyrush fans. I absolutely LOVE it and the tightening restraints don't really detract from it to me. With Volcano - mentioned above, I think the "hate" isn't for the ride itself, it is for the fact that it has that awesome dive at the end - but just, well, ends.
  15. ^aka the Crystal Beach Cyclone
  16. It is obvious it is your favorite as that is where the log flume lives Chuck, thanks for the update! This looks like it will be a lot of fun and definitely changes the look and feel of the area!
  17. This is awesome!! I'm glad you enjoyed the trip and I'm loving that he loved the mine train. My 4 year old nephew couldn't get enough of it either!
  18. I'm glad they went with a sign for each side on this one. One thought though, wouldn't it have been kind of cool if they had used a much larger sign and kind of made a tunnel for the coaster go go through? Just a thought, but I think using the signs to create a spinning tunnel Ala fun house would be neat.
  19. Most GCI's have the curved, swooping drop and they are pretty amazing. I think that this looks pretty great and I cannot wait to give it some night rides. I know that Thunderhead, Prowler and Lightning Racers give amazing rides during the day and epic rides at night. I think that the after dark rides will definitely let people know that this coaster is related to the Beast.
  20. 43 out of 62. Some like Kumba are still outstanding while others it took me a minute to remember if I'd ridden them David
  21. 1. What is the farthest distance you've traveled to specifically visit a theme park? 20 hours driving - Silver Dollar City 2. Your favorite coaster in the state you live in? Kumba 3. Would you rather wait in line for a boomerang (at any park) or a VR coaster @ a Six Flags? VR is absolutely pointless - I'd wait for the Boomerang 4. Have u ever been the only person in a train during a coaster ride? Yes I have - Mindbender at SFoG 5. What is your favorite thing to do at your home park that does not involve riding something? Counting Mullets and Jesus Shirts 6. Better time for ERT: Early morning or late night? Late night (El Toro late night rides are a Religious Experience - Thanks TPR!!) 7. Name some theme park food that *sounds* gross, yet is oh-so-delicious? Fried Oreos 8. Name your top three "bucketlist" coasters you have yet to ride. Expedition G-Force, Taron and Balder 9. Have you ever been E-Vac'd? Did you receive anything if you did? Strangely enough - no 10. What is the longest length of time you've waited for a coaster? 4 hours when Batman was new at SFoG - was with a group of great people so it didn't suck too bad, but I'd rather have my spine ripped out and be beaten with it than do it again 11. Worst flat ride ever. Name it. I love flat rides - I guess I'd say a Ferris Wheel (is that a flat?) because those are terrifying 12. Your favorite SWEET treat at a park that is NOT your home park. Cinnamon Bread is like crack 13. Congratulations! After aggressively gambling on the Plinko game you finally won a front of the line pass. Which ride do you use it on? Maverick 14. If you could have a lifetime fast pass to ONE attraction what would it be? Mindbender at SFoG 15. Have you ever been next to someone that puked on a coaster? Nope, but in front of someone who puked on an inverting ship. Ever washed your hair in a theme park bathroom - I don't recommend it as it sucks. 16. Your home park is getting a new B&M and YOU get to pick what type. Do you want an invert/hyper/dive/floorless/flyer/wing/standup? All of the above is not an option. Wing 17. Name your favorite Vekoma. Expedition Everest 18. What water ride delivers the most unacceptable amount of wetness? Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Water Barge Rats - 19. If you were able to help design a coaster would you want it to focus on airtime or inversions/positive G's? Airtime 20. Most comfortable trains/seats for a coaster are... B&M Hyper 21. Choose one: Unlimited front-of-the-line access to your favorite coaster at your home park for one season OR $1,000 cash? $$$$$$$$$$$$ 22. You just got drowned by a flume/rapids/chute-the-chutes. Do you pay the $$ for the dryer machine or do you continue on with your day trudging around like soggy dog? Never pay for the dryer machine - those bitches never work. 23. What is the worst food you've had at your home park? A Piece of cardboard with ketchup on it....a.k.a. Papa John's 24. You're at Cedar Point. You have a one hour ERT session on ONE coaster of your choice. You choose... Millennium Force 25. Favorite (non-clone) dark ride? Gringotts 26. What was your favorite park you visited in 2016? Busch Gardens Tampa (I didn't go anywhere in 2016) 27. What's your current credit count? Don't be shy. 28. Winner winner chicken dinner! You just won a trip with hotel and airfare included. The catch is its only good for Six Flags America or Mt Olympus. Which do you choose? Six Flags America - then drive to KD or BGW 29. What is the best Intamin coaster you have ridden? SkyRush 30. Your home park has to remove one coaster and one flat for an expansion. Which two rides would you be OK with losing? I kind of like them all - I guess Georgia Cyclone (if they aren't going to finish retracking it) and whatever is near it. 31. Song/music you've heard playing at a park that absolutely has not business being played in a theme park? Cuts You Up by Peter Murphy 32. There's 5 minutes before the park closes. You choose to: Reride your favorite coaster in the park, OR get the new kiddie/junior coaster credit? Reride - definitely. I only Credit Whore during the daylight hours. Doing that at night makes me feel creepy. 33. Do you visit the waterpark if it's connected to the amusement park? Between that and a firing squad, the firing squad would always win. 34. What 2017 addition are you most looking forward to? Lightning Rod working....or Mine Blower 35. What was the most disappointing addition to your home park in the past 10 years? Super Loop 36. The most overrated coaster ever is... Hmmmmmm.....although I really like it, Millennium Force 37. What ride makes you wanna vomit? Ferris Wheel's and especially the double-wheel / sky wheel 38. What is the best consolation prize you've won at a games booth? A Wonder Woman Cape! 39. And the worst? An inflatable hammer 40. End this questionnaire by posting a picture of your favorite light package (coaster/flat). I can't find a picture - it would be Scream Machine or Mindbender at SFoG when they had the tracer lights.
  22. ^ I also think they are hesitant to expand their season because of the age of the employees. For a very long time (it may be still) Six Flags was the largest employer of teenagers in Atlanta. That being said, during the school year staffing could become an issue.
