Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have always immensely enjoyed Holiday World and I am dying to make it to Holiwood Nights sometime. I love the Turkey Tilt-a-Whirl and gobblers getaway especially. Call me crazy, but that last half of Voyage is what makes it for me. It feels like, even after the mid-course, it just gets faster and faster. The last third feels like it is just going insanely fast. Raven at night was awesome, but I was kind of meh about it when my first ride was in the morning. Great coaster, but kind of "Beast-like" for me in that it really comes alive at night. I also really enjoyed their flume and rapids rides as well. All-in-all, just a great time for me and I look forward to getting back. -
Dollywood Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is just my opinion, so please keep that in mind, but I think that calling the ride a "flop", lawsuits, and already talking about re-doing the lift is just a bit pre-mature. Perhaps we should cool our jets a bit. It's been said before, TTD and Ka were both nightmares when they first opened. Falcon's Fury also comes to mind along with the Drop Tower at BGW. I agree that I would be seriously disappointed if the ride were down during a visit, but these things do happen. I'm sure nobody is as upset as Dollywood about these delays and issues - but I am confident that they will get them worked out. David P.S. In no way am I attacking anyone's opinion, nor am I coming after any particular post - these are just my thoughts about the whole issue and the tone of the thread. -
La Ronde Discussion Thread

Instead of answering your question (since I don't work in park management), ask yourself, how many 50 year old log flumes are there? I only know of the one at SFoG (which is 49 years old.) The did remove one of the original pair, but I know that they have continually worked on it. -
I was able to go to the park last Wednesday and had The....Best....Day! I pulled in and thought they were closed (even though the website said differently.) They didn't even open the main parking lot. I was able to walk on to every ride, sit where I wanted and ride as many times as I liked. It was freaking awesome! The staff were all very nice and did very well. Even the food service was good and didn't piss me off. Still enjoyed Ninja Hawk and rode it twice. Justice League was not open, but the area around it looks pretty darned good. All in all, a great day.

Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Does anyone think it is a possibility that SFStL's Ninja could get the "do-over" treatment like SFoG's? The work they did on that made the coaster an actual enjoyable experience. Still a Vekoma Looper, but it went from downright terrible to a pretty decent ride. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Robb - I was thinking the same thing myself . Anyone who has ever even looked at this forum should know what to expect on opening weekend for ANY park. Darn people - you are at Cedar Point! The place is HUGE and has TONS of rides. Although I like Magnum quite a bit - when the park has Maverick and Millennium Force in it - I'd be okay with that closure. That being said, I'm really looking forward to some information on the actual layout of the New Bionic Mean Streak. I know some people can tell what is going on by looking at ledgers, bents, etc.... but I'm not one of them. From what I can see though, it looks freaking cool. -
Vigil - that is a pretty great picture of Ka with the dark clouds in the background, but lit by the sun behind you. Good job. Kyle - thanks for the report. I felt the same on Acrophobia with VR at SFoG. I wasn't really looking forward to it because drop towers are unnerving and I F&*#ing hate spiders, but the video game aspect of it was pretty cool .

This is very exciting to me. It's cool to see Wildcat getting some love (I did not enjoy it when I rode it,) and I'm thrilled that Boulderdash is getting its rough spot repaired. I have to admit, I was a wee bit heartbroken hearing people complain that it was soooo rough now and that they didn't like it. It will always remain one of the most insane night ride and ERT experiences of my life, so I hate to hear people knock on it. -

Hey Andy! Love the pictures as always! Sorry I missed you when you were down here. I agree about Rockit - I really, really like that ride. -
Hi. Although I do agree with Bill, that Hershey and Knoebels are better parks - you should still have a nice time at Dorney. We stayed at the hotel across the street from the park on one of the TPR tours and it was very nice and convenient. There is nothing particularly wrong with Dorney park - there just really isn't anything standout about it either. As said, the dry side of the park is very often extremely slow. You should have plenty of time to do everything you want. I particularly enjoy Talon and Hydra. Talon is actually very good and Hydra, although nothing super-spectacular, is really a lot of fun. The water park gets very busy though (if you see a lot of cars in the parking lot, at least 3/4 of the people will be in the waterpark.) The main thing is - have fun. David

The day after the Pulse shooting here in Orlando, the local Chick-fil-a made national news. The staff and managers came in on a Sunday, fired up the fryers, and made food for the people waiting in lines to donate blood. It was definitely a One-time thing, but it made me like the company a little better than I did.
