https://www.facebook.com/Bobs-River-Place-274079552634836/ Recently heard about this place and am dying to check it out this summer! Bob's River Place - this place looks like an absolute blast Small old school slides One of many rope swings Entrance? -
Same. I first rode it in '79 or '80 (when it was new - ugh I feel old.) It absolutely blew my 9 year old self away and it still does today. It still rides wonderfully, is super forceful through the inversions and "2nd loop" downward helix. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. They did a pretty amazing job on the original Cyclone, so this would be pretty great too

At SFoG for Acrophobia (or arachnophobia if you will) everyone gets seated - then they come around with carts and ask if you want VR - if you do, they help you put the VR goggles on and adjust them. Luckily, there usually isn't a terrible line for Acrophobia so the extended loading time wasn't to horrific.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, that's probably a really good starting point. For anyone who has ridden both blue hawk and its former iteration, ninja, how big of a difference do the new trains make for the ride? Is it night and day, or just marginally better? Ninja to Blue Hawk is like Night and Day. I disagree with whoever said that it is a boring ride because it isn't. It is a custom looper with 5 inversions over the water. It still has it's shuffles, but with the new vest restraints, the shuffles don't bruise the sides of your head. You can also see better without the OTSR's. It still isn't a great ride, but it is SO much better than it was and it is actually rideable and re-rideable again. -
Went to the park on Easter Sunday and had a great time! Acrophobia with the VR was much more interesting than I thought it would be. It does significantly affect loading times, but since there was really no line - we only had to wait one cycle. A couple of things I noted: WTF with the Georgia Cyclone??? It had pretty psychotic airtime and would have been a blast if it weren't so brutally rough. Seriously, I'd be fine if it was just completely topper tracked or whatever - I don't think anything needs to be done to the layout because if it didn't feel like your spine was going to shatter it would be one of the best rides there. Blue Ninja Hawk Bird - SOOOO much more comfortable. It still shuffles quite a bit during the course, but with the vest restraints - it is actually enjoyable - the shuffling doesn't result in bruised ears. Rode the Super Loop - looks great in that section of the park and they gave a really good ride cycle - three revolutions in each direction. It is, however, pretty low capacity but I guess that is okay for a flat ride. I still love SFoG's Gotham City - I think it is the best one of all the Six Flags I've been to. The fact that that whole section of the park is actually themed is pretty awesome (plus the MindBender and Batman are both there .) Harley Quinn Spinsanity and the Joker really fill the area out and it looks great. The Mindbender is still freaking amazing and one of my favorite rides. The re-themed Kids Area (Justice League) was really well done and I'd forgotten that they added flyers. The fact that said flyers are themed to Wonder Woman make it even better. The ex-Cotton States and now Metropolis area looks nice and the Justice League building is gorgeous. The poor Scream Machine still sports the Cotton States theming on the building and looks kind of out of place and lonely - but was riding great (on non-wheel seats.) Looks like quite a bit of new wood around the course of the ride. Goliath was giving great rides with that special breed of "aggressive floater" airtime throughout. It was a little rattly, but still an amazing ride. We ate at the Sports Bar near Monster Plantation and were very happy with the food and portions. We got the basic dining plan this year and it seemed to work well. Food Service overall is still super slow, but it appears that that has more to do with staffing levels and procedures than the staff. The staff were, with one exception, excellent. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and were all pleasant. I guess the B*&$H at the food stand near the front of the park must have been having a bad day (or she was scared someone would drop a house on her sister.) Overall a great day!! I'll post pictures as soon as I have time to resize them

^ Eddie: This is... This is a, sort of... corpse... in an open, oaken, oblong coffin... Silky lining. It's a dead body, Pats. Patsy: Yeah, but is it art, Eddie? Eddie: No, sweetie, it's my father. Patsy: Are you sure? Eddie: Yeah, I think so. But I've just never seen him in a suit before. -

As did SFoG - it was called "The Chevy Show" -
^ I remember one of our tours with Pete and he took us behind the scenes at Tennessee Tornado. He referred to it as the "Arrow that didn't suck." I heartily agree. Although I'm a bit of a masochist who liked the old Arrow Loopers (I'm of an age when I remember them being all the rage and the biggest and baddest things around,) but Tornado is definitely a class above.

I love Dollywood. Just love it. It looks like you had a great time!!! Thanks for sharing your pictures. P.S. - You did not mention Cinnamon Bread - If you didn't have the Cinnamon Bread, then unfortunately, you are dead to me!!! -
^ I understand where you are coming from, but I'd add that Stormrunner is pretty highly regarded, at least here it is.

TR: No Lions, or Tigers, but BEARS – OH MY!!
jynx242 replied to bert425's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Bert - I just spend the better part of my afternoon catching up on your report, and it definitely brightened my day (tax season at an investment bank really, really sucks.) I'm definitely going to look into doing one of Arno's trips sometime. Although I am not bear-like in appearance, I am bear-like at heart . Looks like a wonderful time, minus some food/service issues, but those can be greatly reduced by being with a great group of people. Please tell me you saw some bears doing the king/queen of the world at the front of the boat!!! Celine Dion would be so proud I am so sorry about your mom, but I'm sure she would have loved that you had this experience and this cruise. Sucks about the Bells, but I'm sure it will clear up quickly. Take care!!!!! David -

Hi Tom, thanks so much for the pictures. I regularly go to the parks, but it is so cool to get the viewpoint of someone who isn't as familiar with them. Your pictures are of things I generally don't pay as much attention to as I used to and remind me what I really liked about these parks all along. Thanks again! -

Thanks for the awesome report and pictures. Two things came to mind for me: 1. I love the "Steampunk" feel of Baron and, 2. The theming in the Disco is freaking awesome. For some reason that brought me some joy. Thanks again David -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
And that's before you realize that the park also has Volcano and Dominator. Kings Dominion basically has everything you could ask for in a park. Even their worst coaster (Anaconda) is still pretty thrilling. Hey, better than last year when the schadenfreude over Planet Snoopy was palpable. You get extra cool points for the use of "schadenfreude." I freaking love that word and the concept Anywhoo.....I'm really looking forward to see what they do with the Hurler layout. I never experienced either of them when they were "good" and never understood the wisdom of a large drop into a turn on a woodie. -

No. And I wish I learned that lesson instead of being doomed to repeat my mistakes every time I visit a new park. Same Here - I keep trying, hoping that it will be better, and I'm always disappointed. I'm really looking forward to see what happens at CP over the next year, and to see how many enthusiasts stroke out over the lack of an announcement -

I'm kind of the same way. I don't hate Vortex and actually kind of like Scorcher. The big ones are cool to watch, but I don't particularly enjoy them. -

NEVER! NEVER EVER!!!! I don't watch videos that just don't look good. I can always see the same thing, filmed better, somewhere else (often filmed by TPR, which does great video.)
