  1. I agree. At least it's not Flight Deck or Cheetah Hunt.
  2. I was thinking in a similar fashion. I was thinking this as well. It seems very possible that after seeing what he saw and going through what he went through that he'd be ready to just end it. Maybe he was suicidal and thought one last day with his family at an amusement park capped off by a literal "ride of his life" would be a nice way to go.
  3. It has been a while since I last posted about this, but I've been diligently working on lateral supports for a while now over the summer and a lot of progress has been made. I'm adding the photos to this thread again because it's just not close enough to completion to allow me to create a thread for it and not have it be buried. Ladies and gentleman, this is Pulse.
  4. It really isn't painful, but you can definitely feel a little jolt on rides like Magnum XL-200 and Mamba when they go from straight to curving. To be honest I think it's actually pretty fun. You go from just kind of sitting there to instantly being shoved into your seat or the opposite, being shoved out of it!
  5. How is this honestly scaring anyone? Weren't the original complaints about this ride due to the fact that it had actual arms that would make it feel more secure as opposed to chains? Normal chair swings with chains swing abnormally like this, so what's the big deal? If anything people should be saying "Awesome! These Mondial rides aren't the boring 'sterile' rides I thought they were going to be! There's actual swinging action on those arms... COOL!"
  6. Wow this looks like a really nice park! No wonder it saw such a jump in attendance last year. I'll bet it will pass Six Flags Mexico soon with the Time Warner contract Lucaz was talking about. It'll be fun to see what that deal brings for the park in the future as far as attractions (coasters?!) go.
  7. That line at Krispy Kreme is insane! Plase tell me you didn't wait in it?! Awesome report though, I simply can't wrap my head around Japan. It's like a crazy fantasy land country some six year old thought up after eating a few pot brownies. I'd love to make it there some time.
  8. I mean, I guess I'd really like to know some honesty here - do most of you agree with this statement, but just don't want to say it, or do you really think that if the site needs any updating at all, it's more of "minor tweaks" and less of a "major overhaul?" Honestly Robb, I completely agree with this statement but opted out of saying anything simply because it seemed like the majority of responses thought the site was fine. I really like the front page for what it offers content wise, but I can't stand looking at it. It honestly reminds me of the web pages I made back in elementary school using html in "web club." It's simple and to the point, yes, but it could have so much more visually. Thinking about someone who happens to stumble upon the site and might just be searching for causal information, I figure (or at least this would be true for me) they would move along and try to find another site simply because the site looks so old. I mean, would you rather get movie information from here or here? Obviously these sites don't offer quite the same thing but I hope you still get my point. A little updating can go a long way. Drop down menus would be an awesome start.
  9. Every time I see a TR from this park I can't help but thinking it seems like the Elitch Gardens or Darien Lake of Cedar Fair. Not necessarily a park that should be shut down, but a park that definitely doesn't seem like it needs to be owned by a large corporation like CF. Does this park really pull in much of a profit for CF, I mean why haven't they sold it off yet? I feel like it could do a lot better for itself as a privately owned park. Anyone agree or am I just rambling? Regardless, this was a really nice TR. It's always pleasant to get lucky and hit a park when it's empty like this.
  10. Ben your SFStL map is looking absolutely amazing! I'd pay money to get a print once it's finished! Have you considered submitting it into the park? I bet they'd give you some sort of acknowledgement for it.
  11. I believe you're right, especially since when you go back a page and look at the [definitely real] picture of the ride below it you can clearly see there are catwalks along the brake run.
  12. Dolly Parton isn't necessarily "relevant" anymore but she has a theme park. Madonna isn't "relevant" anymore but she still has a large fan base. To be honest, I could definitely see this working out, and I would definitely find myself there.
  13. ^It's probably more of a capacity issue. A single seated star flyer is most likely at a park that doesn't need the ride to chew through as many people per hour, which is why they can run the ride with a longer cycle. Parks determine the ride cycle that meets their needs the best. Parks that buy double seated star flyers need a ride that handles more people, and they run it with a shorter cycle to enhance this further. SkyScreamer is looking amazing though, can't wait to ride!
  14. Looks absolutely amazing, I would expect nothing less from Busch.
  15. Let's just put it this way: chances are you won't be the only school deciding to make a trip to Worlds of Fun to celebrate the end of the year. In my experiences with Saturdays before most schools are out the parking lot is full with buses and crowds tend to be fairly heavy. I believe when I went a few years back the waits were 30-90 minutes for most major rides, and that's a lot for Worlds of Fun. As far as ride closings go, I really wouldn't expect there to be many major rides down. You may miss a flat ride or two (and Planet Snoopy may still be closed) but there isn't any reason why the coasters would be down, save Boomerang which can be hit and miss when it comes to breaking down.
  16. Looks pretty awesome, would've been cooler if they had built it further up the hillside so that it actually looked like it was as tall as it is compared to Superman, though. It'll still be epic swinging by only chains that high in the air, I thought the old chair swing was fun!
  17. I'd love to see a closer shot of the zero car, still can't quite make out what's going on there. The rest of the train look STUNNING, though.
  18. If you go to the poll results page its saying Carowind's Intimidator won by 253 votes.
  19. Really? I rode DBH less than a year ago and it was FAR better (in terms of ride condition, roughness, etc) when compared to Gwazi. Heck, I'd say it was better or as good as (when considering the same terms) most of the woodies I've ridden. I think there's a pretty clear line between a normal woodie which, of course, is going to be slightly rough, and a downright unbearable woodie that desperately needs the Rocky Mountain topper track. DBH was rough, but it was still fun; a woodie that meets the latter requirements would in no way (or in very few ways) be able to be considered enjoyable. From what I've read over the years, rides like Rattler (and Mean Streak, and the Texas Giant, and...) are in much greater need of the extensive rehabilitation RM provides than a ride such as DBH. Just my couple of pennies.
  20. Nice update, very brave of you to walk around with how cold its been lately. How much snow did KC get during the blizzard? We got about 18 inches here in Columbia.
  21. ^Yea that's the Microsoft Picture Manager's "auto-enhance" hard at work.
  22. My first coaster in NL in forever! All trackwork is done, all that is left are lateral supports. I'm working from my laptop so progress is a bit slower. It's supposed to have GCI qualities (read: similar to a GCI, not mimicking their style exactly) including support work. What do you think? wood2-110110212646000.bmp wood2-110110212712001.bmp wood2-110110212750002.bmp
  23. ^^To make it even more simple, think about it like this: If each piece of track was just 1mm too short, and there's 1000 pieces of track, you'd end up with a 1 meter gap. It costs considerable amounts more to manufacture a part with extremely small tolerance (a.k.a. an extremely small margin of error) so there tends to be things like gaps which can be fixed very easy and for less money.
  24. Screamscape reported today that it is likely going to be re-themed. Pretty disappointing if you ask me. I've read the story and I still don't quite understand why they would remove the theming from the ride. It always seemed to me that the ride was like a tribute to Evel considering he died during its construction shortly after the name was released. What kind of licensing is actually associated with the ride anyways? Kind of a slap in the face to the Knievel family if they do end up removing the theming IMO, but I guess you've gotta do what you've gotta do.
