Need to add: -When Walter Bolliger talks. Oh, wait, this is a game where you want to drink! Nevermind.... I could feel you trying so hard to get him to expand on his responses but I think the language barrier was just too much for any elaboration. That's probably why their booth is always empty. The man's a genius and his company does amazing things, but his interviews don't vary much. All of the other coverage is amazing though! I love reading about all the new hotness and you guys have the best coverage by far!

Or at least a new quality flat, they've done pretty well for themselves in the coaster department over the past years. Not saying I'd be opposed to one, however. -

B&Ms future launch and 4d coasters
CP_RULES replied to krakenmaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I think you're thinking of a coaster with free spinning seats ala Green Lantern/Insane. Arrow's 4D seats (which are presumably something B&M could perfect) are rotated using a second rail (which has nothing to do with the forces at the time of rotation). I'm failing to see how having a launch to gain speed instead of a drop would cause a ride to be more rough. Hulk could just as easily have a steeper lift and a taller drop to compensate for the extra speed the launch offers; something tells me there would be no correlation between the drop and how rough the ride would be. -

PULSE IS RELEASED! You can get the track right here in this post, in the game exchange and at NoLimits-Exchange. Please, please, please rate this track on NoLimits-Exchange if you can! A POV will be posted shortly for those without NL. Ride description: Meet Pulse, a GCI inspired woodie. (READ: similar to a GCI, not mimicking their style exactly!) The idea was to have a ride that was taller and faster than your average GCI, giving a more TGG style experience but staying within realistic length (and thus, price) limits. The drop is a tad steep for a wooden coaster at 75 degrees, but nothing more extreme than what has already been built. Prepare yourself for laterals, airtime, and an all out crazy ride. Stats: Height - 143ft Length - 3003ft Top Speed - 62mph Drop - 75degrees The ride was created in Newton 2 and I worked very long and hard on the supports. All lateral supports were created by me. The station and entrance plaza is all made out of supports. Feel free to fly around the ride in the simulator and check out all that was done, I think this ride is beautiful. Note: There are two trims near the end of the course, these are to compensate for the different coefficient of friction on woodies for calculations in Newton 2. Pulse.nltrack -

Ah yes, the drop is a tad steep for a wooden coaster, but nothing more extreme than what has already been built. I failed to mention that this ride was made using Newton 2 and the original drop was something I thought I was going to be using for a megalyte. I've always enjoyed designing woodies more, though, so Pulse was born. Here's some rough math to estimate the drop angle -

See previous updates in the preview thread here and here. My hope is to finish the entrance plaza in the near future and release the track and a video of the ride for those without NL. All thematic elements of the ride are created using supports, not 3ds. Entrance plaza currently in progress

SFStL only painted about 1/5 of Screamin' Eagle a few years back and NEVER finished it (and trust me the rest of it needed it bad, half of the track and supports had never even been painted after replacements were completed). I'd say it's more of a cost vs. outcome thing than it is a "Meh we're lazy" thing. Paint the parts that get the most visual attention = biggest bang for your buck. Isn't that everyone's goal in this economy? -

For those of you who are trying to "fit" this ride into another CF park and say it was meant to go there, that's not really how it works. If you recall when CF contracted a GCI to be built at CGA there was a layout released. The coaster fell through and CF had to relocate the ride somewhere else. WOF got the ride but as we all know, Prowler has a different layout. If the ride was supposed to go to another park but fell through it would have just been a contracted B&M giga, not specifically Leviathan. Regardless, while I agree it seems odd that the ride landed at CW, I have to admit it's a pretty awesome looking ride for what it is. If this had been announced at a park without a hyper style ride (KBF, CGA, MiA, SFStL, SFFT, SFDK, etc) then everyone would be raving. It does seem very similar to other B&M hypers, but I think it does do a few things different (those low to the ground hops instead of back-to-back hills that slowly get shorter). I'm still interested to see this thing go up, even if CW just built something similar. -

SFStL got SkyScreamer for their 40th anniversary. Every year can be a "birthday" year, parks have to expand and build what will bring in the desired crowd for the desired cost. You have to admit the park has been doing a lot of great improvements since CF bought it. I don't remember there being 208 pages of conversation about the park back then. Behemoth and this new coaster are coming at the right time for the company. In the long run you have to remember CW is part of a chain of parks and individual anniversaries (especially insignificant ones) don't always fall on the right year to build the next best-improvement-ever types of rides. -

SFMM's rival parks are Knott's Berry Farm and maybe CGA. CP is much more worried about competition in the northeast. I highly doubt anyone besides a coaster enthusiast who was in CP's or SFMM's marketing area would be thinking "Hmmmmm, I think I'm going to drive two-thousand three-hundred miles to go to the other park because they put in a better new ride." -
Mini Photo TR: Kemah Boardwalk
CP_RULES replied to CP_RULES's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yes and no. If the previous train was ready to go (which it never was) and had already left the station before the second train had a chance to hit the pneumatic brake then all was fine. Otherwise yes, it was still doing that. -

I know its been said in this thread before, but this ride really does look like some of the older B&Ms go as far as being tight and whippy. Hopefully it ends up being as good as it looks and B&M trends back to their old ways. Looks absolutely awesome regardless, I love the layout of this thing. -
NOTICE: A few of the following photos were taken with my iPhone, the others were taken with a digital camera but those can only do so well at night without a tripod. Long story short, I went to South Padre Island with my boyfriend and his family for his brother's birthday. His brother happens to live in League City, Texas which also happens to be about 5 minutes from Kemah, both of which are suburbs of Houston (in case you didn't know). On our last night before we headed home we stayed at my boyfriend's brother's house and we happened to eat at Crazy Alan's swamp shack. Which is conveniently located in Kemah with a view of this! If you're headed to Kemah I highly recommend this place. It has amazing food, good prices, quaint atmosphere, decent entertainment, and... A nice view! Which can be bittersweet when you're a coaster enthusiast. We arrived after the sun had fallen and the lights had ignited. The Bullet greeted us at our parking spot, which was free to park in. Hear that Six Flags? Boardwalk Bullet is one of those rides that I kind of payed attention to but never would dwell on too much cause I didn't think I'd ever ride it. So while I kind of knew what to expect (rough, compact, shuffling, in a small park) I really wasn't sure what Kemah Boardwalk or its Bullet would bring to the table. The entire area was extremely nice, though. Probably one of the nicest pay-by-ride areas I've ever been to (and way way way less sketchy than Boomers!). Two tickets each for my boyfriend and I at $5 a piece cost $20 which is a little pricey but not bad for an in-and-out credit run. The sights alone were worth close to that, the park had very nice lighting. Here's a nice blurred nighttime picture for all you nighttime-TR-with-blurred-pictures fans. Windseeker? It was definitely very family oriented, though there was a few instances of mom dropping off the skater gang to pick them up later. And a non-blurry photo of the ferris wheel for those of us who prefer to keep it traditional. Ah, the time has come. BB was a real surprise. I rode both in the front and the back and I have to say the front is a much better ride. Lots more airtime than I expected and actually pretty smooth in front. Lots of noticeable shuffling in the back, along with a much rougher ride. The back did offer a few moments of OMFG airtime that the front couldn't quite offer. Overall I'd say its an 8/10 ride in the front and a 7/10 in the back. Still amazing all the things they were able to do with the ride in such a small area. And I leave you with this horrible picture of the station, which I had to add because I thought it was notable that the ride operator was doing the "visual scan" thing that people were noting was starting to happen at some Six Flags parks. It really does seem silly, and all of the teeny boppers were sure to let the ride op know they agreed it was. The poor guy took it well though, making a joke about not making fun of the visual scan that made everybody laugh. That's it for this TR though, it was a fun little pit stop and a nice end to our vacation. Hope you enjoyed reading!

Incorrect. The current River King Mine Train (the north side) was Rail Blazer in 1984, while the old (south side) track remained the Mine Train. Then after '84 season, both sides were re-opened as the RKMT until the 1988 season when the south track was SBNO, before it was moved to Dollywood for the '89 season as Thunder Express. It moved to Magic Springs in 2002. You're right, RCDB and the site I cited had conflicting information. -

Nice TR! SFStL really is a great park. And for those wondering about which side was the stand up side, it isn't the one that's still at the park. It's now Big Bad John at Magic Springs. Someone fell out of the ride when it had the stand up trains and they removed soon after to make room for Ninja. source -
