  1. Last summer, I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Jefferson Hills. It was a decent, clean place, and you can buy discount Kennywood tickets through them (for ~$30, IIRC). The Choice Hotels website shows them having laundry facilities, but when I pulled up the motel, their laundry machines were unplugged and sitting in the parking lot. The guy at the front desk said they were getting rid of the guest laundry room. That was my only gripe with the place.
  2. I noticed that Valleyfair's new coaster is ranking 3rd on USA Today's poll for best new amusement park attraction of 2018, with only Steel Vengeance and Time Traveler ahead of it. Is it really that good, or is everyone just glad that the park finally added something new? I'll lose my faith in humanity (at least, the part of it that voted in this poll) if a Super Loop beats Hangtime.
  3. Even Phantom's Revenge?
  4. 1. X2 2. Viper (SFMM) 3. Magnum 4. Vortex (KI) 5. Gemini ...etc.
  5. 1. Phantom's revenge 2. X2 3. Viper (SFMM) 4. Magnum XL-200 5. Hangtime 6. Vortex (KI) 7. Full Throttle 8. Jack Rabbit (Kennywood) 9. Revolution (SFMM) 10. Invertigo (KI)
  6. ^ That same survey was sent out for all Six Flags Parks, so it shouldn't be taken to mean that SFDL is getting a dive coaster.
  7. Green Lantern @ SFMM has been SBNO since last year, so it probably shouldn't be included or it might skew the "Bottom 5 Steel" list.
  8. ^ The Scary Farm discount is only $5, though. I think all season passholders receive the same discount, too.
  9. I was going to tell a joke about Firehawk, but it sucks so I decided to scrap it.
  10. It was asked for sure in St. Louis. I chose “Step 90-Degree Drop” (sic) for my most important element, and it showed a video of an RMC Raptor - complete with a quarry wall and everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Man, you really need to take up basket weaving or something. That sounds like a terrible way to spend the offseason.
  12. A Super Loop at Magic Mountain? Them's fightin' words! I rode the one at Discovery Kingdom and had a splitting headache the rest of the day. They are not good rides at all, IMO. You guys should throw a party to celebrate your Super Loop going away.
  13. ^X2 closes when there's even a slight breeze in the forecast, and high winds are forecasted in Valencia all the way through tomorrow. That's interesting about the burnt brush behind Batman. Maybe it was a controlled burn?
  14. I had: Six Flags Magic Mountain High-end steakhouse Hilton Garden Inn Wendy's Taco Bell
  15. Green Lantern closed roughly around the same time Xcelerator closed, in late summer / early fall of 2017. Of course, Xcelerator has since reopened. I can't speak for Apocalypse, but I rode it last December. Apocalypse has been closed since early/mid July of this year. A piece of track was removed from the final turnaround (for some unknown reason) and is still missing. Since that whole area is now closed off for construction, I wouldn't look for it to reopen until West Coast Racers opens. I was kinda bummed that they didn't get it open for Fright Fest, as it's one of my favorite night rides. I wouldn't shed a tear if Green Lantern was removed, though.
  16. They are at SFStL underneath batman. I'm pretty sure they are being used for parts for American Thunder Edit: Here's proof So that's just out in a guest area? Pretty much, that's the flash pass queue/overflow What's funny is that they could pass this off as theming, since theming on Batman coasters usually consists of dilapidated cars and scrap metal.
  17. ^ Just in time to replace Firehawk with a giga Super Loop for 2020.
  18. ^ I also really enjoyed both Viper and Vortex. Viper's OTSRs don't bother me because I'm tall enough that my head sits up above them, and I've ridden it so many times that I know when to brace for possible headbanging. Vortex was a pleasant surprise; that straight drop is so much better than a curved drop. If Viper had that straight drop, it'd probably be my favorite looping coaster.
  19. ^ That was my guess, as well, but I was curious to see if anyone knew for sure. I'm surprised they didn't end up on SFA's Roar.
  20. ^ Whatever happened to the MF trains from SFDK's Roar?
  21. So, from the park's statement on why Flitzer was closing, it was already pretty obvious that it was headed to the scrap yard, but in case any of you had your doubts, some footage surfaced on the interweb today of Flitzer being crushed like a soda can. (Demo footage starts at 0:53.) There's not much action in the video itself, but you can see the remains of the demo so far.
  22. Final tally from 2018: Six Flags Magic Mountain Knott's Berry Farm Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Cedar Point Kennywood Kings Island
