What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Superman Escape from Krypton, last night Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Oh, I didn't realize it had been pushed back to 2020! (The last estimate I saw was Summer 2019 ‚ so I figured it'd be June / July-ish) That is unfortunate! I wonder what caused the problems? I was just joking with my Fright Fest comment, but I would guess no sooner than 4th of July at their current pace. IIRC, CraZanity didn’t open until mid-July. I’d be stoked if WRC is open by the 4th. Flying past a t-Rex’s head was honestly one of the highlights of that ride for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
That won't mean anything if Green Lantern is closed down for good. But SFMM can now open another coaster in 2021 and claim it to be its 20th coaster for its 50th anniversary which will be a great marketing strategy. Hopefully they get something really exciting for their 50th anniversary. They already announced WCR as their 20th coaster - which they can technically still do if GL is still standing when WCR opens, even if they tear it down later in the year. I guess we've found Cedar Fair's strategy to make up for last year's lack of revenue: install more coasters with slow inversions to dump riders' wallets and loose change out on the ground. -
Hey guys, how crowded is this park typically on opening weekend? I’m still bummed out that I missed out on this park last summer and am thinking about taking a drive up there for opening day. Do they usually have issues with rides not being ready to go on opening day? I’m mainly interested in Railblazer, Gold Striker, and Flight Deck, but the more coasters that are open, the better. Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maybe they're retheming it like Knott's is doing to their rapids ride? -
I'm a little late to the party, but I enjoyed your Phoenix TRs. Desert Storm is such a weird coaster, but I think that's why I like it so much. I visit Phoenix about once a year and always make sure to stop by Castles 'N' Coasters when I'm there. Desert Storm and all the weird Disney knockoff murals around the park are worth a trip to this park. I didn't even know Wildlife World was a thing; I'll have to check it out on my next trip. Dang, dude! I've visited Queen Creek Olive Mill a few times and had no idea there was a coaster right across the street. I'll have to check it out on my next trip.

^ I'd much rather have SFMM plan on being open 365 days and close when there's heavy rain, than have them only open on weekends rain or shine. It sucks for out-of-towners who can't visit the park because of rain, but that issue isn't exclusive to SFMM. Plenty of people have had weather-related closures put a damper on their coaster trips to other parks. And like Andrew said, there isn't much to do at SFMM that isn't outside, so when it's dumping rain outside, most people wouldn't go to this park. Closing the park for the day is a no-brainer.

The 2018 TPR Coaster Poll
joelwee replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Oh yeah, last row on the Viper side is arguably the worst seat on that ride. The middle rows on the opposite side give the smoothest ride. Last row on the entry-gate side is a lot of fun; you just have to know when to brace for headbanging - which is basically the last two inversions and the last raven turn. -
The 2018 TPR Coaster Poll

The side you sit on will also affect your ride. The "right" side (closest to Viper when you board the train) is jerkier than the other side. There are weird bumps in the track that cause the seats on that side to jerk back and forth at various points, but the other side doesn't have that issue. -
I don't think we'll see any major ride or expansion for the 100th anniversary, because the 100th anniversary itself is highly marketable and they won't need a new ride in order to get people into the park. I can see them having some kind of 100th anniversary festival to celebrate the park's history. This park does festivals very well; Boysenberry Festival and Knott's Scary Farm are both insanely popular, so I'm sure they'll come up with something that draws in crowds. It would make much more sense to wait until the following year or so - when the hoopla over the 100th anniversary dies down - to install a new ride.

Dang, this could've been a TPR meet-up! I'm glad you guys had fun. I was there on Saturday morning and everything was a walk-on except X2 (which was running one train), Tatsu, and TC. Side note: I noticed a Crazy Otto's is opening up on Magic Mountain Pkwy, just on the other side of the freeway from the park. Crazy Otto's started out as an Antelope Valley exclusive, but has been gradually making its way into Santa Clarita. They are known for "pancakes as big as your plate" and other breakfast items with pretty large portions. I ate at the one in Acton yesterday and was reminded how delicious their biscuits and gravy are.
