You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....
storms555 replied to PCW_Nut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You watch mostly youtube videos to do with coasters and amusement parks. You get disappointed when your local FEC lacks actual amusement park rides that arnt just go-karts bumper boats or coin operated kiddie rides. You also wish your local zoos had amusement rides(because many zoos through out the country have even coasters) other then the merry-go-round and choo-choo. Go to the nearest shady redneck carnival if it has more then just kiddie rides. Draw pics of a roller coaster in the grease stains on your paper plate with your fork while eating.(i know weird lol) and doing the same with condensation on the windows. -
Best Family Coaster
storms555 replied to Randomman295's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I never got that when people say "younger teens" as i thought by age 13 and 14 most would of already been on big coasters for at least 4 or 5 years....i cant picture a 14 year old saying "yay i finally get to go on a real coaster and not just Wacky Worm anymore!" Can you imagine starting middle school and telling your friends the only coasters you been on was wacky worms and those coasters like you see at some zoos....unless of course they been on coasters like Pinfaris and such. -
Best Family Coaster

Would Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens Tampa be considered a family coaster? If so that would be my favorite. Second would be that mini wooden coaster at Kings Island even though i havent been there since 2004 when it was called The Beastie. Oh and another i forgot mention! I think Lost Coaster at Indiana Beach was a lot of fun too. -

yea, inb4 the resident armchair engineers argue in circles about it for the next 8 weeks But we're due for another conversation about "tensile strength." As for my list of top CP attractions: Millennium Force Maverick Beer Man ... Everything else everything else?? As in you just dont like the other coasters? Or they are equal to you? I personally thought TTD and Magnum were awesome too.O.O -
FECs are the poorman's "amusement park"! Also the ticket prizes are a lot lamer now then when I was a kid...

the Sky Ride is nice and enjoyable. However its fits in the leisure ride category oppose to thrill ride. Its like the train or the ferris wheel. They are good for when you want your stomach to settle after all the thrill rides, good for if you want a break from walking and standing in line but just dont want to sit on a bench doing nothing, good for seeing the park and planning out you day,and good for photo ops too. but since people want me in to include it lol, ill now rank flat rides/non coasters like i did with the coasters. I didnt go on the upcharge rides although we wanted to but we didnt want to fork out the extra money and also really didnt have time. However if i did go on those im sure they would be on the top of my list. Anyways here the list of the flat rides i went on. 1.Power Tower(love drop towers! my favorite type of flat ride) 2.Sky Hawk(make the classic swinging ship ride look like a kiddie ride) 3.Snake River Falls(fun ride and sure didnt skimp on the splashing was a nice cool off) 4.MaxAir(giant version of swinging Frisbee ride! lots of fun but made me feel sickish towards the end:() 5.Cedar Downs Derby Race(a merry-go-round that actually goes fast how cool is that?) 6.Sky Ride(relaxing but interesting knowing you are only hanging by a cable also i seen a building on top of a building when on it.lol) 7.Ferris Wheel(nice views) 8.Train(cute and relaxing) As for the other flats either we didnt have time. Also towards the end of the trip i didnt feel to well so i didnt think the typical carnival-esque spinny rides would be good on my stomach. or we just wanted to go on the more thrilling rides. However i did want to try Witch's Wheel as it looked a lot of fun but by then again i wasnt feeling to well :/(came down with a stomach flu by the end of the 4 day trip) Also didnt get to go on Windseeker as it was down the whole time i was there. -

Rank Your Home Park's Coasters
storms555 replied to Imagineer Josh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I havent been to KI since 2004 but id like to go back and ride the newer flagship coasters there. They seem epic. However how on earth does Adventure Express rank higher then those coasters especially Vortex. AE doesnt even have drops or doesnt have inversions either....its just twisty track. While Vortex was rough it still had an epic drop(that isnt that tame flatened curved drop like on many other classic coasters with inversions) and fun inversions. But yea i never got the appeal of mine train coasters they dont do much for me. Also never got the appeal of Wizzer either but it seems popular with a lot of GA fans....i guess everyone's different i prefer coasters with drops and inversions oppose to just twists and helixes. heck they dont even have overbanked turns! -

Hey! To all you CP fans out there i am curious how would you rank the coasters? Here is mine starting at one being the best: 1.M-force 2.TTD(honestly its toss up btw the first two) 3.Maverick(awesome smaller coaster that packs a punch!) 4.Valravn(while the inversions are kind of tame the hanging and straight down drops are really awesome) 5.Magnum(its kind of rough but the air time was awesome. also for some reason the bottom half of the first drop was on the slower side) 6.Raptor(thought this ride would be on the tame side but it caught be by surprise!) 7.Gatekeeper(i know wing coasters get a lot of hate but this one wasnt to bad i actually enjoyed it) 8.Gemini 9.Rougarou(fun coaster but was rough on my head) 10.Wicked Twister(while the launch is a lot of fun the drops dont seem as intense as must other coasters still its a fun coaster) 11.blue streak(small woodie but packed a punch!) 12.Cork screw 13.Iron Dragon(its 10 times more fun when using the VR) 14.Cedar Creek Mine Train(im honestly not a fan of mine train coasters they are kind of boring and to tame to me however this one wasnt to bad and the mini drop was fun) 15.Mean Streak(i dont remember the trims on the first drop so it was fun however the rest was way to rough! and honestly dont remember to much more about it now that i think about it) The other three coasters i didnt go on as i dont ride kiddie coasters and the didnt think Pipe Scream would be worth the wait. At first it looked fun and i was like yea lets go on that but honesty i had second thought and was like meh....its pretty much just a skate board shaped Disk'o with an extra hump. While Disk'os can be fun in their own way they arnt to thrilling and kind of on the tamer side of "thrill" rides. Also keep in mind none of the coasters i listed i hated i just like some more then others of course. Although again i dont remember much about Mean Streak other then being rough after the first drop. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
storms555 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As i dont have that much money im not able to travel the country to go to several parks so I'd probably be the GP myself however im really into coasters and learn more about them each day. Not the weirdest but the most cringe worthy and annoying thing many GP do is call flat rides roller coasters! and no I dont just mean Larson Loops or Disk-Os either! I seen people call Magic Carpet/Falling Star rides coasters for example. ...Anyone seen the youtuber H3H3? In one of his videos he mentioned this lady and her "unique" love for a Magic Carpet ride(which in itself is actually really really weird) The whole time the guy talking in the video kept calling it a roller coaster! In another video it said "roller coaster accident" and it was a tea cup ride shaped like ducks!! I dont get why people do that.... here is the magic carpet ride video i mentioned...its not a roller coaster!! -
2017 Worst Year for new coasters in U.S. ?
storms555 replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally I'm looking forward to the new addition to my home park SF Great America(The Joker) as i never been on a coaster like that. Although i admit i wish they could of made it more like X2. While i never been on that ride or even to MM at all sadly,i heard a lot of good about it and it looks awesome too! Still I'm excited for Joker maybe it will be surprisingly "AWESOME!!!!" oppose to just the "meh....yea i guess it was pretty fun....could be better though" -
I miss Shockwave at SF Great America as it was my first looping coaster i been on. It was a lot of fun and intense. Now im probably gonna get hate for this but i wish they replaced Whizzer with Superman instead of Shockwave. It would of been cool to have both. Also i never got to go Son of Beast sadly and wished i could of rode it. The friends who went with me were chicken sh*t and only could handle certain coasters. I didnt want to wait in line by myself so i skipped it but now i regret it. One of them is also the same friend who made me wait in line for an hour for the Spider.....yea.... if you take friends to a park with you make sure they are ones who actually enjoy all thrill rides!

The last new Coaster in your Count
storms555 replied to K1ngdaKa88's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The last brand new coaster that i been on is Valravn at CP. I dont get why dive coasters get a lot of "hate" though. I personally think they are a lot of fun! Hanging there then bring dropped straight down. While Valravn isnt my favorite it is still fun. However i do admit the inversions on it are kind of forceless(i actually thought the inversions on the Gatekeeper were better believe it or not) .....Like you barely feel them or even notice you went fully upside down. So im guessing thats why dive coasters arnt rated very high. -
Favorite Arrow Coaster
storms555 replied to CdnbMatt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My favorite arrow coaster would have to be Magnum of course. It was a lot of fun even though it was a tad rough. It also had a lot of air time. My second favorite is Vortex at Kings Island. I went to KI back in 2004 so that was a while ago however i remember it having an awesome drop and a lot of inversions. It was a straight drop oppose to many inverted coasters that have that lousy flat-ish curved drop *yawn* ...so it had a combo of both worlds. The intense drop and fun inversions. It seems X2 gets a lot of love but sadly i never been to MM yet but im sure if i went on it,it would be awesome! Looks so much fun! -

Maybe a lot of groups dont want to share the drink cups is because people dont want to swap spit and germs....i know if i was with a group of friends and they all wanted to share i'd rather just buy my own separately but thats just me. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
storms555 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode Goliath yesterday at SF Great America.Second from the last car first row. Rode it around 6:30ish. It was also dark out already. I noticed coasters seem faster in the dark for some reason -
Rank Your Home Park's Coasters
storms555 replied to Imagineer Josh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My home park of course is SF Great America 1.Raging Bull 2.Goliath(honestly its a toss up btw this coaster and RB) 3.American Eagle 4.Superman(that dive type loop is sooo awesome feels like you are falling) 5.Batman 6.Viper 7.V2(while the drops arnt that amazing or intense the launch is a lot of fun) 8.X-flight(the reason this one is so low is because while its fun its not as thrilling as the other coasters. the first time it was awesome but after that it got kind of "stale" no hate to this coaster though as its fun in its own way. 9.Dark Knight 10.Demon(this coaster is fun but kind of painful) I didnt list any of the other current coasters as i never been on them like Whizzer or Little Dipper as i prefer thrilling coasters to family coasters. -
Just got back. Yes it was pretty crowded only got on 3 rides. However it was still fun. (i was on my friends "bring a friend day") We didnt get there until 3ish anyways. We went on Goliath,Raging Bull, and the 4D Justice League ride. Goliath and Raging Bull are my two favorite coasters there anyways. Just glad i got to do my two favorites
-
Im going tomorrow actually. I was hoping since its going to be a sunday,a shortened day,and the last day it wouldnt be so many people. Im going with a friend but we wont be able to get there until 2:30ish because she has things to do before that. Hopefully we can get at least a couple of rides crammed in. Im going as a "free friend" on her season pass so at least it wont be a total waste if we cant get on many rides. I dont have a pass this year but im most likely gonna get one for next year.

Theme Park Bucket list
storms555 replied to witting's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Parks i would like to visit is: SF Magic Mountain(just like Cedar Point is CFs flagship it seems MM is SF's flag ship park i like to think of it as SF's "Cedar Point" SF Great Adventure Carowinds(mostly bc of its giga coaster) Kings Dominion(again mostly bc of the giga coaster, lol) Hershey Park Knotts Berry Farm Busch Gardens williamsburg(i been to the one in tampa) Dollywood(honestly i HATE country music...blah! but the rides there look awesome) Kennywood Coney Island NYC (they may not have the biggest and baddest rides but its a classic and the rides still look fun) I did at least get to go to one of my past bucket list parks which was Cedar Point. It was so awesome! Of all those i listed Magic Mountain and Great Adventure are still on the top of course! How ever the top two coasters i want to ride which are not at either of the two parks is of course Fury and I-305. I-305 looks like a giant Mavrick to me and Mavrick was so awesome! Now imagine a giant version of that!! : Oh and Skyrush at Hershey is the top hyper coaster i want to try i heard it was epic as well. I love coasters and im a sweet tooth so its candy and coasters come together -
I stick a big piece of gum to the top of my bottle so no one will want to steal it. Ewww who would want to steal someone else's bottle anyways?? People who steal the bottles are just getting someone else's germs...I mean you could wash them in the bathroom but you can do that only so well...but then again thats just me. Are people honestly THAT cheap?? Yikes.....

Best (and worst) "Sounds" on a coaster
storms555 replied to Jon Sabo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The best sound, well most cool in my opinion was the sound of TTD launching. It reminds me of a mini jet taking off! Also the sound of any coaster going up the lift hill. You know the clunk clunk clunk or tick tick tick! It adds to the anticipation and excitement of climbing up the lift hill before the drop comes! The worst sound to come from a coaster isnt so much a coaster itself but the drama queens who scream like they are being murdered while on the ride! These arnt your typical thrill ride screams that just all blend together to make typical roller coaster white noise, but those blood curdling ones that make you want to turn around and tell them to STFU! It doesnt sound like they are having fun but sounds like they are completely terrified. -
I notice a lot of talk of sky rides lately. lol. It made me think what if they combined a coaster and a skyride. O.O I dont mean those ziplines with the little seats either but as full fledged thrill version of an enclosed sky ride/cable car. It would be an entirely new ride. Im so not an expert in physics so i doubt something like that would work but its cool to think about. Sky ride where the cables have steep inclined drops and even cork screws!

About the early darkness,i honestly dont like cold season at all(i say "cold season" because im including a chunk of fall, all of winter, and a big part of Spring).November to Feb is the worst though! I live in Chicago so the cold season sometimes lasts from Nov up to sometimes late May! When in May its suppose to be like in he 70s sometimes it would still be in the low 50s....Luckily ill be in Florida for a few weeks so that will be good. Winter in Florida is waaaaaay much better then winter in chicago! (obviously)
