TPR's North East USA Tour Official Report!
RCFreak replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^No he doesn't, Our Virgins are 28 year olds who live in their parents basements. Plus they have to much fat to chew through to get to the good meat. Haha I love the update! I miss TPR trips! -

I'm sure that Something like this would take even LESS amount of money to upkeep then Go karts or Mini-Golf. Think of it this way, If you didn't know already, they have a team of employees that tend to the park's various animations. In essence they don't even have to be fired or the team reduced as the train still has there animations even if Paddelwheel does in fact get the ax so that budget stays essentially the same. The entry for King's Island exhibit is $5 per person. That's $20 for a family of four, or about three hours of the employee needed to sell tickets per family. So basically five families per day to pay for an employee to man a cash register. And if they were smart enough, they could also sell tickets in an already existing merchandise location making it even less of a extraneous expense and maximize profits. Turn this into an upcharge haunted trail for Halloweekends and boom repeat (and a ton of new) customers in an entirely different demographic. You mention museums, but what's usually the most popular exhibits at a museum (or at least the ones that seem to get swapped out the least)? The dinosaurs of course. I don't doubt this is only a semi-permanent move (if they indeed do get the attraction that is) but don't underestimate the popularity an attraction like this can have. I can see this easily staying four -five years as it would bring in far more money then Paddlewheel currently does. -

^The boats use Honda CNG outboard motors, so it's not nearly expensive as using Petrol (also fun fact: the CNG tanks are located further up the lagoon heading toward Dragster where the boat's usually "sleep" so if there's ever a leak Dragster has to be shut down!) However, I don't doubt that lower ridership and massive accessible land on the island is responsible for it's demise. -
Because collectively, the movies have made approximately $3.1 Billion dollars for Universal so far (and still climbing as part three is still in theaters and DVD sales continue on). Also Consider Jurassic Park (the ride) took six years to develop and premiered three years after the original movie (one year before the sequel). If Universal waited to see how the first movie performed before making any attempt to create an attraction for it, 2012 seems about on course for the development of such a large scale project.

DL first time questions...
RCFreak replied to outbackjack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry, that sentence should have been broken up differently. Here, try this: "Keep in mind that it is already Halloweentime at the resort when you go, and some of the attractions will be very different then at WDW like Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain; Pirates is due to be closed for refurb." There that works better. -

Ignore everything everyone has said in this thread as you won't wait long for anything. Keep in mind that it is already Halloweentime at the resort when you go; some of the attractions will be very different then at WDW like Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain and Pirates is due to be closed for refurb. Disneyland park (and DCA) will be closing at 8PM on the days you will be attending. Thankfully it's not time for Mickey's Halloween Party which means less crowds, but also means no fireworks and no Fantasmic! the days you are there. As a local who goes (very) often, I use Mousewait 2.0 as my main "wait time" app (which is free) and it also has the menu for every restaurant and quick service place at the Resort. It depends on what kind of food (or how much you want eat/spend) as to what my recommendations would be. But as Pirates is down for refurb, so will Blue Bayou. -

Kinda of amazing how accurate it is! -
^While I agree with you that it's not really a feasible option to add an entire extra crew as it would be expensive, Six Flags chooses to keep the park open year round with the staffing they do. They only have themselves to blame for the operations and word of mouth they give and get. Long (especially SLOW) lines make people unhappy, especially when you don't have many things to do instead of waiting in another long line for another coaster. I think that's my biggest gripe about SFMM is that you really don't have much to do outside of the coasters and I'm not just saying this as a flat ride fan, or to bring out that old argument that comes around every so often about lacking flat rides. If the coasters are not running the best they can then I don't even want to go, which is why I haven't had a season pass in two years despite it's low price range and only attend West Coast Bash. Also the parking is too high and the food sucks lol. (General statement now) Don't think Disney is exempt from this type of situation either as Matterhorn went down for rehab on July 11 and will be down until the beginning of September; that leaves a lot of the summer out of operation. Everyone should know shit happens, but Six Flags seem to do a much worse job at planning out their rehab schedule it seems.

I'm going to see Hairspray tomorrow at the Hollywood Bowl. SO EXCITED!

Weren't the Brutal Planet mazes at various Six Flags parks based off of a collaboration with Alice Cooper? I think I remember reading something about that. If so that's cool that Alice Cooper has such a tie the haunt business. This makes me sad that I might not be able to afford going to HHN this year. I'm still loving that they are on a full movie theme for the event as I love horror movies and being able to "experience" them more then just watch them is fantastic to me.

Agreed! One of my favorite things to do in San Diego is to go watch the (hot) guys on the FlowBarrel (the one with the full 10 foot wave). -

I've heard horror stories of how crazy busy that waterpark gets, would a flowrider (Awesome as they sound) have the capacity needed for it? Since I really don't do waterparks (even the crappy one two minutes from my house that has one) do the ones that have one use it as an upcharge, or is there just really long waits for them? -
Monsters Inc Disneyland
RCFreak replied to outbackjack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hope you're not confusing the one in Tokyo for the one in California as they quite different ride systems while following the same basic plot (the movie). I'm also a huge fan of dark rides as well, and Monster's Inc is cute, but nothing to special.
