Awesome stuff, the ride itself is nothing special, but the racing makes the ride soo much fun. Thanks for sharing, Robb! Oh, yeah, one thing. I don't watch a whole lot of onrides, but is the sound always like that? It seems rather silent as you can only hear the wind. -

Just got back from the ClubTPR day at the Efteling, I had an awesome time. Thank you Robb for making this possible and thank you GCI for building Joris en de Draak (now hurry to China!). If the pictures of today are worth posting, I'll make a TR soon. -

Looks like a fun ride, cool station too. My only two concerns is that the capacity will be low with only 3, 6-seater trains and that red paint job is going to be pink within a year or two. -

Dave, don't forget that Katun's awesomeness can also be contributed to the fact that it has TWO (yes, two) Stargates! And the wheel covers are cool too, as well as the final helix. And world's tallest Zero-G. Basically everything is awesome about Katun. -

GULP...that is very big indeed. -
^Indeed. It seems its taken from the rooftop of the building west of the park entrance. You cleary see Vortex and the illuminated lifthill of Flight Deck http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=q6zv954v1smb&scene=5874918&lvl=2&sty=b&sp=Point.q6zv954v1smb_BMW%20rooftop____~Point.9bzwtyxk36hr_Beastie____~Point.q6s9s94v3dy4_Santa%20Clara%2C%20CA____&where1=Santa%20Clara%2C%20CA

Some of you might remember I made a NoLimits track right after the blueprints where posted. Well, that ride had some parts way off because it was based only of the top view. This new version has got the layout and timing right. -
I used Newton2 to try to make the element, and the only way to make it work is to make the lower loop very large. This way the train still has enough speed to make the top loop. It's not a very smooth track, but the forces are within limits, so it *could* be build in real life. doubleloop2.nltrack

Lol, just like the time that they sold Top Gun shirts at Kings Dominion. -

That would be called a norweigan loop. http://rcdb.com/4049.htm?p=21373

Image the feeling when you go trough an immelman. First, you get high G's, and just as you realise you're upside-down, you get pulled into a twist.

^It is a fail-safe system to prevent the train from rolling backwards of the lift hill. Alongside the chain or cable, the lift hill track has a long line of 'teeth', and the anti-roll-back on the train goes over the teeth and because of that, the train can only move forward. You can either use a brake segment and have the transport section launch the train, but you won't be able to set the launch speed, only the acceleration. You can also use a brake segment in combination with a lift or transport segment. You can use the launch setting on the brake run to make the train shoot from standstill and then let the lift or transport section complete the launch to the desired speed.

Umm, if I recall correctly we did Mummy, Jurrassic Park, Simpsons, Studio Tour, Backdraft, had lunch and then Shrek. And basically, that where also the rides it wanted to do, those where the rides that looked the coolest and I was really glad I could get them done. But the other rides, while they weren't on the top of my list, they seemed fun and in a perfect world, I would like to have done T2, the House of Horror and the Creature Show and then there was the Hard Rock Cafe just outside. I just felt a little pittle sad about not being able to do everything, because California is one of those places I won't go for a few years. But don't get me wrong, the day at Universal (and the entire tour) was top notch and I understand that it's not possible to do really everything.
-
Universal was an awesome place. Pretty impressive for a park with only 1 coaster (that's not as good as Florida). The backstage tour was incredible, I can't actually believe they we let us (I mean us) in the ride area. The whole park was filled with cool (dark)rides. I wish I could've ridden everything in the park, but unfortunatly time was limited, but I'm glad we managed to do all the highlights, thanks to the provided 'front of the line'-passes. And will the answers to the email-dan trivia be posted?

Efteling Discussion Thread

Do you really think a B&M is better for the patrons of Efteling than a well done dark ride? I think it would look very out of place, no matter how well it is themed. Yes I do. If the Efteling adds a darkride, people will see it exactly the same as the other darkrides they already have. Adding some thrill would attract people looking for thrill. Adding a darkride only attracts families (and enthousiast) who are going to show up anyways. -

I had really hoped the Efteling would build a new steel coaster for once. I would invite the board of the Efteling to go IOA and BGT/W and take the seminar "How to theme a B&M" -
