  1. I think I just need to set up some sort of notification whenever Boldikus posts a big-ass trip report, because it's always quality, entertaining reading. Also my wife who's a semi-pro photographer says you have serious compositional talent (she mentioned that when she saw your Skyrush photo with the train whooshing past). She never says that about MY awful shots. Told you The Claw was worth it! Now I just gotta get back to Morey's and compare with It. Thankfully I've got a Golden Ticket I'm saving for early next season. Skyrush withdrawal level post-report: 87. Again, great report! Thanks for posting! Never stop.
  2. ^ All that Stardust spent... I take it that's still the only Dragonite you had?
  3. Same. Well, not the off all week part, that's awesome for you. But I definitely plan on doing my civic duty early and then jetting over to the park as a well-earned reward for keeping democracy running. (Plus, truth be told... it'll be nice to finally get a trip in without the kids for once.)
  4. OK, yeah, this Halloween event kinda got me back into it. If I can earn candy for my Snorlax at nearly the same rate as I would for a Pikachu I'd be stupid to not take advantage of it. Plus I caught like 21 Pokemon on the two block walk from the subway station to my job... 6 Gastly, 3 Haunter, 4 Cubone and a bunch of others. Dammit.
  5. Robb, have you given any thought to recording a series of Kimmelesque "Mean Tweets" parodies featuring some of their comments? Seems like the sort of thing that would go viral fairly quickly!
  6. I was hardcore into the game for the first few months, but have kind of fallen off the grid recently. Most of the time I spent playing was done walking around NYC early in the morning before I got into the office, but since September I've been trying to get in earlier and earlier to get more stuff done, so that kind of killed my momentum. I still am missing three or four from my Pokedex. I might pick it back up again if a new update comes out with some cool new features or the Gen 2 creatures.
  7. The "I Was Banned From TPR Because..." group on Facebook showed up on my sidebar for recommended groups at some point last week, back before this thread was created. I'm guessing it's because I'm a member of a few other theme park groups on FB. Out of pure curiosity, I took a look in the posts since it's apparently a public group that you don't even need to join in order to see posts. OMG... The level of hatred and butthurt in there is absolutely unreal. The ones quoted in Robb's thread are some of the more lightweight ones, if you can believe that. It utterly amazes me that anyone would go so far out of their way to throw personal attacks at someone like this, but apparently in 2016 cyber bullying is par for the course, especially if you're a public figure that attracts a lot of attention. I operate social media accounts for a company that is completely unrelated to this field, and sure enough, we occasionally get haters, immature comments, and just flat out idiocy passing through on a daily basis. In these cases, I don't even bother responding... I just make copious use of the ban and block buttons. Sure, you get some complaints about "free speech", but it's not like anyone on the Internet understands what the hell "free speech" actually means. You DON'T have an intrinsic right to be able to vomit stupidity, racism, and profanity at anyone you feel like without repercussions. But understanding that would probably require more than a couple dozen brain cells in the ol' noggin.
  8. It also explains why the Grizzly station always looks like any coaster's station at Dorney Park. If you have more than eight people on a train, the park must be SLAMMED that day.
  9. This wasn't my experience at all both times I visited Cedar Point this year. The Gatekeeper crew was always hustling like nuts to get trains dispatched and prevent stacking as much as possible. Did you just visit recently? It's possible operations may have dropped in quality due to it being the end of the season, but in both May and September, this simply wasn't an issue, and especially not with FLP. That being said, the one time I visited KI this year, I didn't need any sort of Fast Lane whatsoever, so that was a definite pleasant surprise. Ultimately I like both parks a lot, but for different reasons, and so I wouldn't rank one higher than the other as they both seem to serve different purposes.
  10. Now, the real $64,000 question... will they keep it open for Christmas Candylane? Also damn you guys. I got zero rides on Skyrush this year due to most of my park visits this year being just me and the kiddo, and was filled with utter jealousy thanks to your running updates. *shakes fist*
  11. I think it runs a better program than the one at Dorney, but it probably pales in comparison to the one at Morey's (which I still haven't had a chance to ride) because of the restraints. I'd say give it a spin anyway, the lines usually move through fairly quickly.
  12. Honestly this is a problem with Cedar Fair parks in general. Anything that looks like a "big" coaster gets slapped with a 48" requirement. Never mind the fact that tons of other places you can go on an Arrow mine train or wooden coaster running PTC trains at 44" or even 42". Height requirement inconsistency is just one of those things that you have to get used to when you have little ones in tow.
  13. Alpine Bobsleds at The Great Escape. Capacity nightmare, but I found it to be a lot more fun than Avalanche at KD. And I had no idea you could get airtime on a bobsled coaster until I rode this one!
  14. Of all the possible places we could be going, it looks like it's going to be Sesame Place on Saturday.
  15. The wait did not disappoint. Excellent TR so far, Boldikus!
  16. Have I wandered into the jughandles enthusiasts' forum by accident?
  17. I'm bumping this thread only because I'm on pins and needles awaiting boldikus' trip report. The anticipation is killing me!
  18. Which of the three Musketeers would that be? Athos, Porthos, or Zombos?
  19. Does the word "confirmed" have a completely different definition in the world of coaster enthusiasts? For some reason, it seems like whenever it gets used on message boards and Facebook groups and Instagram, what it really means is "I saw this posted somewhere else online so it must be true". In any case, I am looking forward to whatever coaster Kennywood brings us next. Making the trip out there twice this year solidified it as one of my favorite parks with a top-notch albeit small lineup, and one that I'm going to make an attempt to visit on a yearly basis going forward. If it ends up being an RMC, fantastic, but I have faith that no matter WHAT they put in there, it's going to be another solid ride!
  20. Until the Local 3269 Union of costumed performers steps in and lodges a complaint for being insensitive to the needs and respect of the facepaint-enabled.
  21. This entire coasterbill post from the SFMM thread. As always, Bill seems to find the words that need to be said.
  22. ^ Absolutely love Rebel Yell, and it looks great in 60 FPS, especially when shot in those stunningly beautiful conditions. This is going to be my zen meditation video going forward.
  23. This looks fantastic. I really need to hop across the pond one of these days...
  24. Whoa -- really? I hadn't done much research into SWO, so if that's the case, I'll definitely be saving the trip there for several years down the line. The big kid's just barely scraping onto 48" rides at the moment. Sounds like if we want to do a SeaWorld in the near future, this will be the one to hit!
