Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I know it's not a coaster, but who cares, that ride is fun as heck. Got some serious spinnage out of it in September as well! Dunno if it's a different program or not, but ended up riding it three times back to back and got gloriously dizzy. Would love to see more of these models around instead of the typical U-shaped Disko variety. -
Not going to lie, I legit laughed out loud at that one. Well done. I see from the photos that Griffon was at the very least testing, when I checked the app over the weekend I noticed it said "closed for the season". Can you confirm it was actually running for parkgoers? I'm heading down there next Sunday, haven't been on it yet, and definitely want to get it in, so at least I have something to compare Valravn to. Here's hoping that maybe they soft-launch Invadr as well >_>

I hated Steel Force in the back, and it wasn't until I listened to Bill and Boldy that I bothered to try it in the front row. It is definitely much better, and I manage to get plenty of airtime. Unfortunately though it seems like every single time I go on it, it starts raining as soon as I get halfway up the lift hill. That helix is ridiculously painful with raindrops pelting you in the face!

I fell off the wagon after I hatched my last baby, and once I missed a day on my streaks I didn't even bother logging back in. This news is sorely welcome, and will most likely manage to get me back in the habit of walking a lot on a daily basis.

Stop it, Bill, you're making too much sense here. -

Entirely possible. The first time I rode it last year in May, I wasn't over the moon, and I think that's because in my head I was hyping it up too much especially after riding and being blown away by 305. Then I made a return visit in September and rode it with my son, and we were both having an absolute blast. For me, it was just a matter of not comparing it to anything and taking it on its own merits. And having a happy-go-lucky 4-year-old by my side being totally thrilled to be on his first giga definitely amped up the fun factor. Actually wearing my MF shirt I purchased that day to the office today. Looking forward to our summer road trip out that way again this year! -

Indeed. Saw a commercial for Taco Bell the other day and was shocked to see how basic their logo looks now: I'm not making this up -- it's really that simplified. Seems as if Cedar Point has just hopped on the bandwagon as well -- clearly not to the same extent as above, and frankly it doesn't look bad, but definitely simpler and flatter all around. -
What is your next park?

Was hoping to make a flight down to Texas for SFOT & SFFT in February but that got vetoed by wifey. On the plus side, I negotiated a more expansive trip for March that will hit KD, Carowinds, and BGW, so all's well that ends well! -

ITT: A ton of people that don't understand the definition of the word "confirmed". ...actually, wait, no, I found one that does. -
Thanks, Dirk. This legitimately made me shoot seltzer out of my nose. Glad to see the pie-in-the-sky optimism is still working its charm over at Castaway Cove, Boldikus. I checked the FB earlier but didn't think to actually read the comments on visitor posts... just assumed they were laying low at this point!

Boldikus writes the words really good and stuff. Yeah, with the unfortunate exception of me doing Green Lantern to myself, it was pretty much a dang perfect day. Fantastic way to end the season and couldn't have asked for better company! What IS it about the winter weather that makes Batman run like it'a hopped up on amphetamines? Two years running now, I've had the best rides of the season on BTR in January.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Nah, just most of the shots I took were either super boring crap or of the family. Besides 99% of my time was spent trying to wrangle the kids and keep them from running off. It's a lot more manageable with one, but with both of them at the same time? GAAAAAAAAH. The wife brought her DSLR though and is gonna be going through those shots as time permits, maybe she'll let me crosspost some of them. -

Spent this past weekend checking out their Christmas offering. Definitely even more of a focus on the family-friendly stuff than SFGAdv's HITP, with most of their major coasters being closed for the season, but I'll never turn down the opportunity to get a few more laps in on SooperDooperLooper when and where I can. Laff Trakk was also gussied up with some holiday decorations in the queue, station, and on-ride as well, and while it wasn't a huge departure from what it is outside of the holidays, it was definitely a nice breath of fresh air. It also helped that operations were pumping guests through like crazy for once. No more than a 15 minute wait at any point on Sunday from an outside start. While it was a shame to see both Skyrush and Comet closed, I have to say, their light show in The Hollow section was absolutely amazing. Having all the lights in the area be synced up to the music makes for some wonderful views! And the $10 hot chocolate refill mug saw plenty of use the entire time. At only $19 a head + $9 parking, and having them still offer the preview night bonus hours, it was a fantastic deal for me and the family. Definitely enjoyed the heck out of it and hope to come back again next season for this. -
Agreed. Following the Halloween event up immediately with the daily streak bonuses, larger Pokestop hauls, and increased spawn rates has definitely rekindled my interest in the game. I only have one Pokemon left yet to obtain out of those that are currently available around here, and I'm currently using Seel as my buddy to gain enough candy to evolve him. Here's hoping the legendaries make an appearance before Gen 2 is released.

Hit the park this morning after doing the whole voting thing. Got to the car gates around 10, they opened up around 10:30, and there were not a whole lot of folks around. It was supposedly both a Physics Day for school trips and a Bring-A-Friend-Free for pass holders, but you wouldn't know it judging by the turnout. Got through the main gates around 10:55, made a beeline through the arcade to get to El Toro and get my last few rides of the season in. Managed five in a row without leaving my seat and another one after switching seats. Was running really well thanks to the unseasonably warm weather in the upper 60's/low 70's. After having my fill of the bull, I headed over towards Superman to get at least one lap in. This was the longest wait of the day simply due to them running one single train and the slow loading/unloading procedure. The ops announced "this train is scheduled to leave in 30 seconds"... was closer to three minutes. Even with this, it didn't end up being more than ten minutes with a two train wait. Love that pretzel loop and its unyielding ability to completely knock the wind outta me. Side note, Green Lantern was down, not that I was planning on riding it anyway. From there, I headed towards Ka and on my walk past the station noticed it was totally empty, but they were dispatching trains. This surely can't be? By the time I made it through the switchbacks and into the station, I was greeted with a half-full platform and only two folks waiting for the front row. Slipped in line right behind them and was in and out within the span of five minutes. Also decided to try it hands up in the front for once... shouldn't have done that. Should not have done that. They felt like they were going to be ripped from my sockets. Live and learn... Stopped at Nathan's on my way through the boardwalk section, grabbed some corn dog nuggets, and nibbled on those while walking towards Joker. The line was smaller than I had seen it at any point in recent memory, so I walked through the queue straight into a completely empty single rider line to find that the very next group had five people. They shuffled us off to the purple side and I ended up facing forward. My opinions of this haven't changed much since opening day, unfortunately. No full rotations at all. Kinda solidifies itself as a ride that I'll take a chance on if there's no wait but anything longer than 10 minutes and I can find better stuff to do with my time. Over to Nitro, greeted with a last row walk-on. Does it get any better than that? Not for my money it doesn't. Tons of floater air and a rush of speed. Got a reride in here as well before having to vacate, but no complaints. That left me just enough time for some Batman The Ride action and as always that thing was HAULING. Still missing the backwards train from last season but it doesn't matter. I'll ride it forwards, backwards, in the front, middle, or back, and it always gives me a great ride. Looking forward to a ton of night rides on these two during HITP. Grabbed some Dippin' Dots for the walk back to the car, consumed them in rapid fashion and dealt with the associated brainfreeze, turned the key in the ignition, and the display on the clock read 1:45. Easily the least amount of time I've ever spent in the park, but who cares? I did everything I wanted to do and then some, and had next to no waits. Much love to park management for keeping the park open today for us diehards! \o/
