  1. With that information, and how we are "supposedly" missing one of the rumored RMC projects (assuming Georgia Cycle gets the treatment), I'm pretty well convinced that SFA is finally getting RMC Roar. I doubt it will be unique but it would be cool if RMC showed us what else they're capable of with Roar's footprint. Even if it is a Joker clone, I'd be pretty happy for the SFA-locals. And I'd finally have a reason to go back to the park.
  2. I wasn't even expecting another announcement for SFFT after Wonder Woman. The most I expect are replays of the Wonder Woman announcement in the big video. At most I could only see Fright Fest changes/additions.
  3. Well, here's your answer to the train question: Source This made my day. I can only image what the reactions of other drivers must have been. Also, there was this gem in the comments: EDIT: Wait, Buzz, is that you??
  4. I got 42 using DIFTF's list. A lot of the ones I was missing I should've already had, like a bunch at SFOT I missed due to crowds the day I went; ones like Outlaw Run and Lightning Rod, or all of Holiday World's rides that I live/have lived within easy driving distance to but haven't been to ride; or ones like all of King's Island's coasters because I had to cancel trip.
  5. ^Honestly, I think Mako without any trims would replace Maverick as my #1 steel and #2 overall. I really love it's sustained, (almost) ejector airtime on the first drop and the really strong floater on the rest of the hills till the trim. And the s-bend above the queue had some fantastically funky laterals going on that I just loved. I haven't been on Maverick since 2009 though, to be fair, but I will be going back to Cedar Point soon for Coastermania 2018!
  6. Wood: El Toro (also overall) Steel: Maverick
  7. Honestly, I think these lists need to be limited to only "Top 50" or "Top 25" so that we can limit the rides to only the pure quality rides that are unarguably are some of the best in the world. Most of the rides I saw listed were fillers to help the list reach 100, trading quality for quantity. Especially if the items on the list all come from a variety of parks across the world, I figure it could still be challenging and fun. The hardest part of creating this kind of list, I think, would be narrowing down the B&Ms, being very selective. They can be very subjective when it comes to where people think they belong but for simplicity sakes it should be confined to B:TR, Montu, Banshee, Nitro, Kumba, Fury 325, Leviathan, etc.
  8. I still don't believe Fling is going anywhere, especially going back and reading OP's post again. Carry on.
  9. ^I don't blame them. People. Are. Stupid.
  10. The image had to be exposed for the sun's lighting, which is very bright (in case your eyes haven't told you yet). It's dark because the camera had to be stopped down quite a bit and the shutter set to very fast in order to get the correct exposure because of the sun. On a normal afternoon (with the sun elsewhere outside the frame) that photo would have been likely pitch black at those settings because they just wouldn't allow enough light into the camera for a properly exposed (lit) image. Think of the eclipses glasses you (hopefully) wore. Everything but the sun was pitch black because a ton of light had to be stopped in order to bring the sun to a safe viewing level, meaning that light from the rest of the world, obviously nowhere near as bright as the sun, was long filtered out.
  11. I'm not surprised by the barrel roll drop. It was pretty apparent to me when they began work and cut away so much of the top of the drop that it would be a barrel roll drop. BUT THOSE TRAINS. WOW
  12. I'm definitely way more excited for this announcement than Mean Streak's. I don't care what the layout is or the cars are. I just want to know what this thing is! It's just so unique! For the Mean Streak announcement, all I want to know are the stats, trains, and name. We already know most all of the rest, so I can't foresee any big layout surprises. Mean Streak may be the biggest RMC to date, but it still pales in my curiousity to SDC's ride. Mean Streak's announcement is at 12:00 EST, right? (AKA 11:00 CDT — same as SDC) If so, then the true first world problem is having to get out two devices to stream two separate, major leisure time industry announcements because it is your hobby.
  13. Except that Shazam is also a D.C. character (I myself didn't know this for a long time). Also, just retheming Shazam would make more financial sense anyway. It would be much cheaper to paint just Shazam black and purple and call it Catwoman's Whip than to do what you described.
  14. Maybe too late now, but have you considered skimping on the third day at SFStL and going to the City Museum instead?
  15. Spoken like a Trump supporter. Congrats. You're that guy. --Robb "Please continue to make fun of Trump to get his supporters out of our forum." Alvey I would consider myself a moderate. Not trying to foster any particular someone. I never felt it during my visit in December. The airtime off the first drop was fantastic and seemed pretty devoid of any interference. Honestly, I didn't even notice they were physically there until it was pointed out on here a little while after my trips. So, definitely not trims, as Robb said. Robb, any clue as to what they are? Gotta say, HRR was probably one of the biggest surprises of my trip. Sure, it shuffles throughout the entire course, but the ride itself was great. I wouldn't call it "rough" by any means because the shufflingg wasn't painful, just annoying. I can live with the minor annoyance for an otherwise pretty exciting ride. But before my visit, I read opinions that the shuffling had ruined the ride for some people.
  16. Considering only one has been built, Six Flags doesn't release costs of rides, and that it was just announced this morning... I'm leaning on a strong sense of "no". Any cost you're going to hear will just be speculative bullshit.
  17. Right hand turn in the second picture and a different plaza in the first. The proposed plaza would have included a relocated ride and rolling thunder entrance (or did Rolling Thunder actually have its entrance moved? I'm not too personally familiar with the ride) and the ride's exit path would have been completely different, going under the course and exiting parallel to the tracks on the lake side of the roller coaster, not parallel to the queue as it is today. Looks as if the plaza would have included more/less different buildings, and the plans say the entrance would have included several queue buildings, but personally I think they where just referring to the tarps that are over the queue today. Even in that era of Six Flags, I couldn't see them making a ride's queue a series of themed buildings ala Expedition Everest (even at a reduced level of theming).
  18. ^Way to bring politics into everything... congrats. You're that guy. Meanwhile, I didn't really see the menu lasting very long at Volcano Bay anyway. In my experience, no matter how well-themed a restaurant, the menu options are pretty much always the same basic junk food staples with maybe an extra thing or two. There are exceptions obviously (see: Epcot).
  19. I doubt it will be called that, based on the Superloop across the park. I have encountered examples of Google Maps mixing up the labeling on roses, so my best guess is that it is a mislabeled pin.
  20. I do agree that there are a lot of people that do dumb things, but please don't get political. We come on this site for entertainment, not to hear people complain about politics. There are different forum boards for that. On a lighter note, is anybody visiting Owa soon? This. I don't care what your opinions of current politics are. I and others come to this forum for escapism or entertainment - no need to get into that political shit.
  21. Since we are assuming this is a water coaster, is it now okay to speculate that this will be a Aquatrak? In all seriousness, I expect a water coaster like Thunder Rapids. It would be interesting if they count it as a coaster.
  22. The equality unpopular and ironic opinion is that I found Dueling Dragons far more intense than Montu - I greyed out the entire time and, despite how many times I rode both sides each, I still found myself debating if greying out was worth the rerides . I didn't expirence any greying out or uncomfortablely intense forces (even at peak g-force moments) on Montu anywhere on the train - to which I thought "what the f*ck is this shit??!!" However, because I don't necessarily enjoy sustained high g-forces, I, like most enthusiasts, prefer Montu to Dueling Dragons - it just happens to be for the exact opposite reason. But God I love that final corkscrew on Fire Dragon for whatever reason and I will surely miss it dearly.
  23. I'm really excited about this. There aren't enough water coasters in the world - or at least the country - and they're super fun rides. Any water park with a water coaster has an automatic advantage to me over those without one. Knowing that my home park will be getting one is pretty fantastic news and good reason for me to prefer SFStL's HH to most of water parks nationwide. That is, if it does turn out to be a water coaster. I have always expected that a new water ride would eventually occupy that plot someday. It makes you wonder how much of that land they'll use. Last year was a huge surprise when a Thunder Rapids was announced (and even more pleasant when Universal announced that Volcano Bay would be opening with one). I suppose if this one turns out to be a clone we could be seeing this be the next ride to get copy-pasted between the parks.
  24. This one crossed my mind as well, but the Gerstlauer Infinity rumor just keeps getting stronger, and when a rumor hangs around for this long without dying (like the SFMM Dive coaster rumor has), there is probably some merit to it. Yeah, just ask SFStL about their hyper, Darien Lake about Cuba Falls and Lake Monster, King's Island about their giga, etc. I think the Dive Coaster rumor for this park had some merit to it but I can agree that it was an enthusiast's wishful thinking in the end. Logically, it had seemed like a very solid assertion, and probably would have offered KBF and the West coaster quite a bit in one package. Needless to say the recent return of dive coasters have some hope that even more are on their way. As for a Dive Coaster at Magic Mountain, that has been a decade's-old enthusiast pipe dream. I haven't ever seen any substance to that rumor at any point nor any reason to infer one was ever coming. Ps SFMM fansboys: Six Flags has announced the closure of several rides and Viper is still running
