1. I doubt we will ever see anything added to Mr. Freeze Island as it has it's own power grid specifically built to isolate the power-hungry Freeze from other attractions ... although I am not the most informed on this board on just how much more that power grid could handle.
2. That's awesome! Its a really good thing that they're putting more theming into this ride, as it once was themed to a random box in Candy Apple Grove...
3. IMO pausing at the top while still spinning so that you're facing down probably is much better. Although, does the pendulum even pause momentarily at the top anymore? The last couple times I rode it we went straight past the top without any hesitation, so you disnt get a moment to enjoy staring at the ground.
4. I love seeing this from of all people you. Do as Bill says. I found row 2 to be a blast as well.
5. I didn’t even know HITP was open last weekend but I never made plans to check their operating calendar because I refuse to even think of Christmas until Thanksgiving is over.
6. ^He did? I don't have a Twitter so I don't really ever se his posts but I expected to at least hear an announcement on Facebook. I really need those dates lol. What are the dates for this year?
7. ... why not just factor the unit cost of the card into the price of the season pass? ... I’d much rather pay a few bucks extra and have a plastic card than a paper one. I mean, really. We’re talking probably a couple dollars difference.
8. Ha. I’m just going to go for CoasterMania and the days surrounding and try to get on it then (or better yet hope that there’ll be ERT LOL).
9. Welp, there go my rooming plans for coaster mania 2018. Damn, too, because it looked like the fit for what I needed and wanted. I’m not at all heartbroken by the news of the Extreme Sports Stadium leaving. Goodbye!
10. Welp. WoF just announced Finnish Fling will be closing at the end of this month. I'm really kicking myself for giving up on trying to plan a WoF visit this year now (I haven't been on it yet before - I didn't know about it on my last visit in 2009.) 2018 probably will be the most exciting year of the century to date but the arrival of 2018 unfortunately has come at the cost of the closure of several good rides in 2017.
11. This probably has to be the most incredible coaster photo I've ever seen. That loop standing alone is so incredibly powerful and yet all so disheartening. I can't believe the ride is already almost completely gone - just like that. It looks as if Universal took pleasure in making a mess out of Dueling Dragons. Wow. I couldn't even recognize where things once stood at first. Source: Screamscape
12. Sorry for interrupting the discussion: When do details for CoasterMania get announced and where can I purchase tickets when available? I plan on getting a Club TPR membership before the event. Sorry for my ignorance. I've never cared to keep up with this until this year.
13. I know I'm chipping in on this discussion pretty late, but I always found it odd that after installing the metal detectors and lockers they didn't reprogram the ride to duel. Insurance companies are anal, I get it, blah blah blah ... but none the less still unfortunate. I never had a problem with the lockers, although I know plenty of people oh here couldn't stand them. Sure they were tight, but at least they were free and insured the safety of the few items I do carry into parks (namely just my phone). And IIRC correctly, they were the fingerprint ones too, where you didn't have to carry your ticket, correct? If they would have brought back dueling, I would have most certainly actually welcomed the lockers. Anyone else feel the same? Anyway, I just thought I'd pop in to say that before it someday becomes completely irrelevant.
14. ^Yes. It's the same deal we get every year. Saves a lot when you have a family of pass holders and the free parking is a REALLY nice bonus.
15. Seeiously, they really needed this an the theming/interactive elements are just a huge bonus. Would be even cooler if they run it at a faster pace like Aquatica does (best lazy river I've been on).
16. I've always have been suprised that SFM isn't SFMM sized as Mexico City is the most densely populated city in the world, with the second largest population in all of the Western Hemisphere (2nd only to São Paulo), and has largest largest metropolitan area in the Western Hemisphere. Then again, I think the economy and social customs are to blame. Leaisure time activities are much more prevalent in more developed countries such as the US where people on average have more padded disposable incomes.
17. This is the first comment I've seen addressing this and I believe that's because the general consensus is that it's just a matter of a rendering. I doubt the ride will be unpainted. It's about DAMN time they kept that handrail color! I was super bunmed when Wicked Cyclone's rails turned out orange because I had seen photoshopped images from before its announcement slowing blue rails that looked totally KICKA$$!! Even better, somebody had photoshopped a picture of Wicked Cyclone after its opening to make it's rails blue against the dark grey supports and it just bummed me even more as it looked even MORE kicka$$ than the white and blue. (yes TC has blue rails, but it's just not the same!) I've been seeing a bunch of people mentioning this, and I'm pretty surprised anyone else has even cared that the rails follow the original handrail colors, but it seems we are all tired of the orange and red RMCs. I thought I was the only silly person who gave a f*ck, but it appears most people actually really dig it.
18. What sections have yet to be rennovated that are in need of refurbishment? All I can think of is that area around the corner from the Skycoaster where Apocalypse stands and Deja Vu once stood. Also, could something please point out where the monorail station was? (Sorry for my ignorance)
19. Meh. Even as awesome as Twisted Cyclone looks, I'm a sucker for the Boss for its lengthy, impressive layout and it's use of terrain. I would still rather keep it in its current state than see it butchered. Same with Georgia Cyclone. Twisted Cyclone will be a better ride, granted, but I'll sure be missing it's older self. I would have much rather seen GASM get the conversion if they aren't using a ton of Georgia Cyclone's structure.
20. Totally forgot about that little gem, but that combined speed statistic is easily the most atrocious, blatant marketing hoax Six Flags could have ever contrived. I don't know if I can put the faith into people to not actually believe the ride goes 70mph. Six Flags, you're embarrassing us!
21. Pretty much solely because no one has seen a Skywarp previously in an amusement park. That's my guess. I'm not really too excited by the Skywarp concept, but I'm also not hating on SFGAm's super loop - I'm actually really happy about it. This just doesn't look like my cup of tea but I'd be willing to try it if I ever make it out to SFDK. It looks like fun but it's not the most exciting thing to me. NOW, that wing coaster super loop concept o the other hand!! It's great to see that people like the announcement because I thought there wouldn't be much support behind it, especially at SFDK. I really expected one of these this year, but I NEVER thought they would place one of these in a park with a Superloop already, EVER. I had figured that these would replace the Super loops completely as new additions and the other parks would just be SOL.
22. That's very considerate of Six Flag's behalf. I really like this announcement. I like how it should fit King Choas's footprint well with no space wasted. And 100 ft IS impressive for one of these as Sportdude360 said.
23. Woah, surprised it's not a water coaster, but this is even better!! They're my favorite type of water slide! I LOVE the wave-turn type slides. I couldn't get enough of the one at BGW's Water Country USA.
24. ^^Mean Streak's lift was increased by an unpresedented amount - 44 ft. The only RMC that comes close to that number is Iron Rattler, which gained 45 feet on the drop but nothing on the overall height. Few past conversions have even seen height increases - NTAG, Joker, and Storm Chaser. Those were measly gains of exactly 10ft, 15ft, and 20ft respectfully. Storm Chaser only lost 250' of track one of the original sides. A lot of conversions lost height. Wicked Cycle lost 3ft, Medusa: 5ft, Twisted Colossus: 4ft, and Iron Rattler gained not lost anything. Sure, you could factor in the drop, but it's too late for me to care that much about it. Most conversions that gained height on the drop were simply recovering height that had been lost on the original ride. Wicked Cyclone got a lot out of that increased drop by not expending a ton of energy early on in the layout, but for Iron Rattler, the benefit was moot as it immediately shot back up into that first inversion hill that's nearly as tall as the old one was. So I'm sure you could make an RMC Boss possible by severely lowering the average height of the elements, but that's as much of a neutering as shortening the layout. Increasing the lift a lot like Mean Streak just doesn't seem very feasible with the Boss, nor within SFStL's budget. Which brings me to the next point, likely more important than the first. Even if my speculation is all wrong, a Mean Streak scale conversion of the Boss seems very much outside of their budget. I have my first economics test in the morning in which I have been behind in due to joining the class two weeks later but yet I can't sleep or study. I'm too excited for the announcements! My bets are on the water coaster. A raptor would be a perfect replacement for the Ninja and is a seemingly very plausible possibility in the future, but imagine we will be one of the last Six Flag's to get a raptor.
