  1. I bring presents: First: holy mother of laterals https://instagram.com/p/BUAU0kUAo-v/ Secondly, I found most of the angles missing from the update a few pages back:
  2. Hmm... firewalk13... fire and the unlucky number in your name. And you just so happened to be there?... No connection, huh? I'm kidding. But seriously bro, your some bad luck We all know it was Guy. Guy, you better stay the hell away from Mean Streak, you arsonist!
  3. First off, the coaster is going in a new area according the the preliminary announcement. The layout could be ANY shape depending on the paths. We aren't even really limited to an area here. Second, anyone could make a layout like that in a couples mins in Microsoft paint. In fact, I used to be that on my own for entertainment years ago. Look, I mean you can even see where the line segement that was used to make the turn back into the station was too long and stretched wrong. There's an extra length of it sticking out next to the brake run. Sorry, but my BS detectors are firing up a wall on this one. I'm betting this was fan made.
  4. Don't worry. Millennium Force still exists. and GateKeeper! I swear I can hear the Maverick fanboys screaming from miles away. Except, they're all in Frontierland, because that's where Maverick is.
  5. This thread used to be a lot of fun to read through and see where the traditional, 200ft+ drop, hyper styled rides lined up in people's polls, but now this fluid classification thing is making this thread a little outrageous. Like Wicked twister? You can't be serious. It has absolutely nothing similar to hyper coasters other than being over 200ft. Alpengiest? Again, not similiar (and technically five feet short of the hyper definition). Putting gigas in this is completely unfair because it seems well-accepted that they are simply bigger and badder hyper coasters that are usually received much better, especially by us thrill seekers who adore intensity or insane heights and speeds. How can we compare i305 to any B&M hyper? Of course i305 is going to win 9/10 times (me being one of the one-tenth exceptions.) Its not happenstance that all five gigas usually appear anywhere from the top 5 to top 10 in almost every list they appear in. Even if you don't have many true hyper, it a lot more interesting to read about those you have ridden than trying to artificially inflate your list and decievingly make it lookmore complete. That's just my two-cents. This has been bothering me in this thread. Of course, I wont stop you from continuing this, I just wanted to give my opinion on the matter to see if anyone else feels the same way.
  6. Way ahead of you there - I did those same calculations a while before you posted that (I tend to read a lot and withhold myself from posting, because everytime I do, I always succeed in making unnecessarily long posts). But yeah, I do saw those as well and checked the measurements myself once before, so I don't doubt you... Part of what really convinced me early on that a dive coaster is irrefutably an all-around best candidate was recognizing that Boomerang's spot's area was enough to fit even the largest dive coasters well.
  7. I'm not ruling out the possiblity of a dive coaster just yet, because CGA seems to be getting an impulse coaster based on their 20 year plan and location of current survey markers, which would align with the "renewed relationships" project. Additionally, the "completely new coaster" statement doesn't necessarily imply that it will be a new type of coaster, only that the coaster will be new from the ground up, if you look at it generally. The "Ledge" name that was just trademarked is convincing to the case of a dive coaster as well. I'm also not opposed to anything other idea, but I just wanted to reaffirm that I still see a large dive coaster as most logical and opportunistic until something more convincing and less general comes up. As for those saying it will be a Baron-sized dive coaster: I don't think you understand just quite the size of land that is available. Shiekra's lift only covers ~100 ft* of ground, and the turn at the top has no larger than a 50 ft* radius. The boomerang plot is around 400 ft* long and close to 100 ft* wide in some spots, with the narrowest being 60 ft*. *Numbers were based off recollection because I was too lazy to look them up again. However, the important thing is that even with the consideration of the margin of error, I can confidently say I'm that I remember Sheikra's lift fitting in several orientations in the plot comfortably and with room to spare in some orientations.
  8. "Sure is a neat thing, isn't it?" - Tony <3
  9. In The Loop just posted this: Source I think I just found Bill's new home.
  10. ^You're right: that is an exact clone of X-Flight.
  11. Because I had heard that Grizzly at CGA sucked so much that it even ended up at the dead bottom of a poll for wooden coasters one year, I expected Grizzly at KD to be equally as bad. However, it was actually a really good ride and the best wooden coaster at KD (and one of my favorites anywhere). To my surprise, that seemed to be the popular sentiment here as well. Why does CGA's suck so much but not KD's?
  12. Thanks for bringing back memories of my last visit to BGT in December 2016. This was just what i needed this Sunday morning. Glad to hear you guys had a great time. Your videos are only getting better and better with each release so great job!
  13. Yellow and green is not a bad color scheme. There are fantastic coasters, such as Cheetah Hunt, that have this color scheme. However, THAT is the problem. I can't picture anything but an African / tropical themed ride when I see rides painted in these colors. The last thing that this resembles is a Gotham City super villain. There are even building facades in the Riddler's footprint and my mind is still falsely associating the colors to something tropical.
  14. I just saw a photo of RMC Mean Streak taken legally today at the friends and family preview event. The ledgers for the exit through the lift hill are in and they appear to form a Stengel dive or a barrel roll.
  15. Don't pass on Houdini, Zum, the parachutes ride, Skull Mountain, the skyway, or the safari (time permitting). Do Justice League and the SkyScreamer if you haven't been on one of those before. The Ferris wheel offers some nice views that are worth it if the line is short enough. I personally did this over SkyScreamer.
  16. SFOT's operations have improved so much. A couple of years ago, they were known to have the worse operations in the chain following SFA. When I visited, I totally forgot about that stigma from a couple years prior. They were probably some of the best operations I had ever seen outside Orlando. A several rides they did a countdown, and on rides like NTAG IIRC they had clocks in the station (can someone confirm this please?).
  17. No. There isn't. Stop comparing Roar to American Thunder because they are GCI's from two different eras and with two entirely different scenarios. Roar opened with PTCs, but American Thunder opened with Millenium Flyers. Roar and its generation of GCI's that opened with PTC's are exceptional cases and should not be viewed as eveidence that GCI's all age poorly or that any GCI could be RMC'ed. Maintenance plays a huge role, and Millennium Flyers reward maintenance's job by tearing the track up less than other train designs do, leading to a smoother coaster for longer. American Thunder is arguably the best maintained wooden coaster in the chain. Just because Apocalyspe went to shit within a couple years doesn't mean American Thunder already has too. This isn't SFMM. This is SFStL, where our maintenance departments actually give a flying f**ck about taking care of their wooden coasters. In the Loop just visited WoF and reported that even Prowler is showing some age, while American Thunder still runs as if were still new based on my rides from last year.
  18. Every Batman I have ridden in the last several years has just gotten progressively better and better over those years. Those rides are outstanding and resist aging so well.
  19. They would not need to remove the cobra roll to remove the train cars and it doesn't look missing at this time in the webcam. I am not sure why they would remove part of the cobra roll until the entire coaster came down. I believe it is just a small section of the flat track directly adjacent to the station and before the hill starts that they remove to pull the cars off. Wow. There was literally and link to pictures of a piece of the cobra roll missing at the top of the page where this post was made and yet you couldn't be bothered enough to read it before posting? I guess I need to post it below again so that it can be at the top of this page also.
  20. Other than for this post rcdb posted on Facebook, I can't see any track removed yet.
  21. It'll be everything you dreamed and more. Totally indoors and unbelievably interactive. Disney level sh*t here, folks.
  22. Because you get really good views of the world's best coaster. (Completely subjective, though) Not as subjective, but the sight of seeing different parts of Kingda Ka on the way up and getting a true a perspective of just how fucking high you already are and how much you still have to go is terrifying. I remember thinking we were already WAY high up on the tower but then realizing that we hadn't even come close to the twist on KK's ascent. My reaction was an instant "OH SH*T". And in the end, the point of a drop tower isn't always to serve as a thrilling observation deck. Sometimes all that matters is taking you up high, letting you have a concious sense of how high you are, and bringing your worst fears to life by dropping you. The view straight down accomplishes your awareness of your position and condition and is the only view necessary to make a drop tower great. The nice views of the horizon are just bonuses.
  23. I liked Dominator. What stood out to me the most were the high speed turn and the hangtime in the loop. That loop really seems to go on forever! However, I liked Bizzaro more because of the zero-g roll, headchoppers, and more layout complete-feeling layout. I know Coasterbill is going to kick my a$$ for saying this, but Bizzaro's zero-g is so good that it's even better than Kumba's. I hope we can still agree that the BTR zero-g''s are the shit, though.
  24. I'd be more worried about capacity. How many trains does Sky Rocket run and are the ops at Kennywood anything comparable to Cedar Point? Could Cedar Point's ops even realistically maximize a large enough capacity for itself with a Sky Rocket?
