I don't see this becoming a dueling coaster. A) there's only one lift, and the drop doesn't really look wide enough yet for a second drop. B) they probably would have already put ledgers down for a second track since they were worked on that area already. Why would RMC move all the equipment all the way back through the course and climb up there to work on a second track when they already worked in that area a while ago? IIRC, both sides of Twisted Colossus were built at the same time. This "dueling" speculation is REALLY stretching it. -

^That's just you, but it's a subjective topic. To me, it looks like a slightly more red version of Mean Streak's brownish-red track. -
Looking at possibilities over 200ft for coasters, a dive coaster seems like the most likely candidate. Los Angeles already has a hyper; hyper coasters would take more space, while a dive coaster is more compact hugely in part because they have a steeper lift and drop AND because their drop is parallel to the lift and doesn't take up additional space at the end of the lift. I'm not saying Knott's won't replace boomerang with a flower bed that will be watered with the tears of whiny enthusiasts. In fact, the discussion if a ride over 200ft came to life with the hyper coaster rumor that has been going on for years. What I believe is that a Dive Coaster would be the most likely possibility IF and ONLY IF the we are discussing coasters over 200ft. I'm not outruling the possibility of something completely new, either. Intamin could design a 200ft wing rider aquatrax for all we know. It is a matter of the likelihood and ambiguity of predicting that something like that will happen that keeps me from considering that as an option. In the end, I'm merely in here to have fun speculating, as are others, including those just reading for entertainment and not commenting. I don't believe my prediction is the all-knowing truth. Forget just Baron 1898 - the park physically could fit a full-sized Dive Coaster that the plot if they wanted. Sheikra's lift on covers around 220 ft of ground, according to Google Maps, and it's wide, turning, pre-drop transfer only has a diameter of 120 ft. The Boomerang and Riptide plot measures 400ft long and 120 ft wide underneath Boomerang's lift, and is even wider at the cobra roll end.

They're shorter trains because the tight radius of a beyond vertical drop would accelerate riders sitting in the back of a long train too quickly to be safe. The amount of negative-Gs you would get going over a tight drop like a Eurofighter's in an long train would cause internal injury (starting at -2Gs). It has nothing to do with the weight. B&M can change the angle as much as the please to make it safe for riders. They already have proven that their tight-radius crest off the holding brake in their Dive Coaster trains are safe for riders. To get beyond vertical, they would just simply have to continue easing steeper once the drop has reached vertical. I have been wondering myself for a while now whether or not B&M will ever attempt this. It would be the simplest, yet most stupidly effective addition to any Dive Coaster, in my opinion. Having a beyond vertical drop would: -Clear the track from underneath the rider's view from the holding brake, making it seem like there really is nothing between you and the pullout. -Add another unique characteristic to the Dive Coaster model and ride experience (beyond vertical drops are uncommon) -Generally, sustain a longer duration of airtime (would still depend on how the drop is shaped) -Increase marketability. Vertical drops are cool, but the GP looses their shit when you tell them a roller coaster can have a beyond vertical drop. All that said, I didn't suggest that Knott's would be the first to try this. I suppose Knott's will get a Dive Coaster if they want anything over 200ft, based on reasoning of space and marketability to the area, but there's nothing to correlate them getting the first one with a beyond-vertical drop. In fact, Cannibal, a ride in the region, already has a 200ft a 116* drop. It would take a lot to break Lagoon's record.

^^I thought that tower was a radio tower or a crane or something, but then I realized it's the new ride. Woah, it looks incredibly tall in that spot. -
I feel the general consensus is that the busy look makes the ride abnoxious. I thought so too, based on photos. However, I sincerely promise you the ride does not look busy in person. The grey supports between each side pop out a lot more in person that they do in photos (in photos, they're almost impossible to see). This segmentation keeps the ride from looking so busy in real life, IMO.

To be fair GCI is building 4 woodies at the same time too. Invadr, Desert Rally, Mystic Timbers and The Happy Valley Chongqing ride have all been under vertical construction around about the same time. Yes, true, but I meant that S&S is working on three 4D projects in the US alone. If we are looking at at their entire 2017 itenerary, then we should consider this list:

^Magnum would like to have a word with you... It appears to be the exact same height; maybe 5-10 feet lower, if anything. -
That is so because of Six Flag's marketing strategy. Memorial Day or later openings have been standard for as many years as I can remeber. Hell, they even waited till a couple DAYS before opening day to start vertical construction on the SuperLoops, even though they had all off-season to complete a one-day process (YES! It literally took only a matter of hours to complete installation of the loops themselves.) Also, S&S was busy with three 4D's - GCI was not busy with three Mystic Timbers. Vertical construction started later for SFGAm than it did SFOT, and while SFOT's was topped off a while ago, they don't plan on opening it early.

The opinion that the new colors are ugly is actually the unpopular opinion. There has been a lot of praise in the SFOT and SFGAm threads for the new colors. I think the new colors look fantastic. I saw SFOT's Joker in person a couple of days ago and it looked great. It looks a lot less weird in person, I promise.

The implication that legal pictures are not welcomed by the park is comes from Robb being asked by the park not to allow any Mean Streak photos on this site. It doesn't come from the notice the park posted because of trespassing. Clearly, the park wants to keep the hype under wraps for RMC Mean Streak, because they asked for a complete photo ban here, on the internet's largest enthusiast forum. -

I can't believe that outward-banked overbank is even possible. -

BGW also posted this really cool video of InvadR on their FaceBook page: [fbvideonew] [/fbvideonew] Thanks again for the report, Chuck! I'm sad to see so many trees gone, but I couldn't expect much because no park makes an effort to work around trees anymore (not even SDC or Dollywood). I understand they need to clear trees t o make room for staging and for equipment to work safely on the job site, and that it reduces construction cost and time, but it stinks that the ride won't be immersed in the woods. I get they can always plant trees, and with this being BGW, I have faith they will, but it will be many decades before they replace the woods that were there before InvadR. A huge part of me wonders if they'll be able to plant trees on much of the land, because the land is terrace-like with steep grades between levels. I don't think they can safely plant trees on grade that steep in fear of soil erosion, nor do I think they're permitted to (unless it was part of the soil conservation plan in the blueprints leaked before the announcement). I might have missed something and would love to be wrong.
