Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I ran into a photo today from a location I won't be disclosing (so that you guys can't go searching for it.) No, I didn't go searching for it, but just happened to run into it as part of one of my social media feeds. It crests about 45 degrees to the right with respect to the bottom of the hill and the ascending half of the crest has no banking, but the descending half begins to bank to the outside and continues to turn another 45 degrees to the right (clockwise). -

I don't understand why they haven't finished out the lift, or why they haven't worked on it for months. I guess they have their reasons, but I suppose it's to keep the 200ft thing under wraps so a competing park can't purchase something larger for the 2017 season? (Since, ya know, RMC Mean Streak is for 2018 ) Also, knowing Cedar, I could see them going for three records out of this one 200 lift hill: Tallest hybrid lift hill, tallest wooden structure on a roller coaster, and most additional amount of structure added to a previous ride. -

All three wooden coasters at SFStL are incredibly popular. Screamin' Eagle sees pretty similar numbers to American Thunder during the day (at night, I find American Thunder greatly outdoes Eagle in ridership). They aren't consistent, but can reach 1 hr waits at the same time. The Boss more depends on the day, but stays pretty consistent throughout the day. I have seen it hold 2hr lines on crowded days and plenty of 1 hr lines in the summer. -

^They had special permission from the city, and expressly stated so. I wouldn't even worry about it. Thanks for sharing that! It was nice seeing some legal drone footage of a park for once. -

Wow, the pacing is phenominal! That came out of left field, and the barrel roll in the last shot looked batshit insane! Those trains are challenging my all-time favorite list. They look like they were inspired by the legendarily sexy Magnum trains. -
I mean, we have the better facade of the two, for what that's worth... I was always pretty happy that we got a normal Justice Hall out of one-of-two of the only JLBFM conversions. I think our Justice Legaue has a bit more charm and meaning because of the history of the building and what the ride MEANT to our park. Our building started a legacy, if you think about it, as all the new ones have taken our's shape. To me, SFStL's is the original JLBFM, and Texas is just its own thing. I'm surprised SFGAm didn't concert their Frontier Studio (is that the name of the building there?) into JLBFM, especially as it's in the Boardwalk area, by Superman and Green Lantern.

Weird Coaster Facts
RollerManic replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Rocky Mountain Construction was very busy in 2016. They opened four of their own coasters (Joker, Lightning Rod, Storm Chaser, Wildfire) plus made the track for SFGAdv's Joker. Despite RMC not having a coaster of their own for 2017, they're still busy as they're making the track for the four S&S Free Spins being built for this year. They're making Mean Streak's track too, which could be a massive project. -

Nooo. Because most parks don't care about hiding their transfer tracks on coasters. Every single GCI in existence has a building or cover on the transfer track. The only two exemptons are El Toro and Kentucky Rumbler, both of which have only one train. He's also trying to make a joke about "sheds", but it just isn't funny. He knows that we all know Mystic Timber's shed is specific to that ride as it is a thematic element. El Toro was manufactured by Intamin and assembled by RMC, not GCI https://rcdb.com/4274.htm#p=23220 -

1. El Churro 2. Nitro 3. Purple-man 4. Kingda Ka 5. Bruce Wayne in tights 6. Skully 7. Mean Lantern 8. The train that runs away 9. Ozzie Ozbourne's Crazy Train 10. Red-man but not spooderman 11. Not a real knight but he wants you to know he's dark I haven't been on Joker. All are fantastic up to The Runaway Mine Train, and the remaining two are just average. They're not necessarily bad.

Didn't ever think I would hear you say that! I doubt I'll go more than a couple times, including HITP, but I'm also starting to get a bit more practical as I get older. 65 bucks for at least two trips to our park and a trip to SFGam is a pretty solid deal. That and the five years off really made a difference. Trump is President, Cubs win the World Series... maybe the Blues will win the Cup this year. (doubtful with their playing as of late) Prozach has buys a season pass, maybe SFStL will announce a hyper... I'm pretty sure Prozach is just tired of bullshitting himself waiting for the hyper that will never come, and is anxious for HITP 2017.
