  1. Considering one year after the parks grand opening would implying 1972, and the Carousel and Shazam! were both installed that year, and that the ride itself is older than the park, in going to wager that it'll be the carousel. Highland Fling was built in 1977 and that's great information to me. I love me some Highland Fling. Plus aren't the remaining Schwarzkopf Enterprises (the better ones over the old Huss Enterprises) dying out? Both were installed in 1972. Based upon the hints from parkjunkie the ride in question was built after 1972. Also based on the wording of the post it sounds like the ride is currently inoperable. According to the app Shazam and Carousel are both still running. Now on the other hand, Highland Fling was built in 1977 and currently not operating and hasn't ran in a while. Read his post one more time. I believe you may have misinterpreted it.
  2. You won't find jack shit for Six Flags billboards in Memphis. You'll find Holiday World billboards in Nashville, however. Source: I'm a St. Louis native who moved to Memphis six years ago. And to call Memphis the closest city is stretching it when KC is 50 mins closer and Chicago is only an additional 10 mins further than Memphis.
  3. Ackchyually, I think they'll have RMC Cyclone ready for HiTP 2017.
  4. You know, not all great woodies in six flags parks are RMCS, right? El Toro was physically constucted by RMC. However, Intamin designed it and outsourced the prefab track manufacturing, the catwalks, and a few other misc parts to Cordes Holzbau (a German firm). Concerning Cyclone closing, count me in on the boat of those who really enjoyed the ride. I prefer it much to GASM - I found it a more intense, complete, and excitingof a ride. I didn't find it too rough, especially since most of times that I rode it that I can remember where after parts where replaced with topper track. The only thing I disliked about the ride was the terrible screaching it created. The noise alone caused headaches for me, even though I didn't find the ride rough. If you were to ask me which coaster makes the most obnoxious sound, Georgia Cyclone would have been my immediate answer.
  5. Is that what that ramp came from? God, I think I've been trying to figure that question out since I was three. I think that might be the biggest mystery of my childhood.
  6. ^There's probably very little way a train at the top of the lift would even make it to the bottom of the first drop by the time the other train would have cleared the MCBR entirely. Maybe there might be a pass by like you described between the start of the double up and bottom of the first drop, though.
  7. If it helps narrow it down I think that particular person is a Club TPR member.
  8. I saw it two days ago, but was just too lazy to post it (ps - thanks for posting it so I didn't have to) I was very pleased when I heard this news. I always thought a Ratatouille ride would be a great fit back there and it's good to see that corner of the park getting an E-ticket.
  9. ^thats because it has been Compressed to reduce resolution, therefore saving data on internet hosting (file will now weigh and tax systems less) and because it's also likely being displayed ATM at a larger size than what was on your camera roll, further exaggerating the effect of it loosing some of its resolution.
  10. I always thought the fins were just to slow down the ride at the crest, allowing more time to view / anticipate the drop.
  11. You, of all people, want to mock someone's mathematical speculation for the crime that it was written with too much authority? EDIT: Oh wait, I see. You're involved in that thread of quotes. It's personal now. You have to switch sides when it's personal, right? But wait - this post of yours was more BS. So now that it can be seen that you were of the essentially the same ideas the solution changes to hypocrisy, right? ps — bill_s I don't think that of your post. I'm just saying that's AustrumSpark's intent.
  12. That's because half of the people in this thread bitched about its announcement. Most people wanted more. There are few that cared it seems. You get the similiar results in other fanbases like the SFGADv and SFGAm threads (but I'll cut SFGADv some slack because they've actually had some really good discussion about it lately and people seem to appreciate how JLBFM will be revitalizing the old area.
  13. I don't really think the turn looks that compact from this angle. I think it's still possible for it to just be a turn in mid-course of a non-spinning coaster.
  14. Funding, permitting, paper work. Who the knows or who cares? Maybe they're just taking their time - they have a long time until next season and even more if we aren't looking at a 2018 addition. Just chill and enjoy the webcams. Lol
  15. I thought was already part of the speculation??? I'm pretty sure someone pointed that out with a video of Blue Fire. Perhaps a rear-facing last car would be a better example of new speculation following the announcement of WBMW Australia's coaster?
  16. So has anyone heard yet that Volcano Bay opened yesterday? There was already an ungoldly amount of public coverage on YouTube on top of media coverage. TPR has videos uploaded already for it. I know Robb's probably working on a report (and that's why I won't post the videos here), but I'm just saying that I'm surprised there wasn't a blimp about it here in the USO Discussion Thread. To anyone who visited VB yesterday, how was it?
  17. Man, you guys need to get out more. Go ride some roller coasters or something. Very excited for vertical construction! I'm sorry I don't live next door to SDC and the nearest theme park is 5 hours away... I'm also sorry I was so anxious as to figure out what ride this will be that I used references to what evidence we had early on to figure out the manufacturer, speculating like everyone else does. Even when I do go to theme parks, it is on the occasion of more like twice a year, with SFStL being the only one I ever revisit or can count on visiting every year because that's the only one in the area I go to see family. It's definitely not every other weekend (or month?, can't remember) like you. I'm around tons of parks but they're all in inconvient directions I can't afford to go, especially if I've already have been there and/or if they're in the (essential) middle-of-nowhere like SDC and HW. I also have way too much time on my hands and even after nerding myself away with geeky stuff like this I still am bored, but it's not free time in the sense that I could take off and go travel. Believe me. I would kill to be in your position. This summer I am moving back to central MO so things might change.
  18. We already knew the footers resembled every single footer on a MACK coaster ever. It would surprise me if this ride becomes something different. I think I've been more excited to see the supports to find out what color the ride will be and not so much what company it'll be. Nice to see this ride will have a lot of black! All black is a perfect color scheme for SDC, so I can't wait to see if it turns out as such.
  19. ^Wingriders were an excellent example to point out. On windriders, this element is anything but close to heartlined. The riders are STUPIDLY far from the center of rotation when compared to any other coaster. I can't think of a coaster where riders further distance away from the center of rotation of an inline roll other than for (maybe) an S&S Freefly, but TBH I don't know I'd count that because it has an extra plane of rotation which may an unknown effect. I don't suppose a inline roll really is a problem on any coaster as long as it's taken at a speed that is considerate the riders distance from the center of rotation.
  20. The colors have always been a fine combo. I don't think anyone has ever called Cheetah Hunt's green and yellow color-scheme ugly, but that's not the issue. The issue is that the colors make no frickin' sense on a Riddler-themed ride. Granted, the original black and green wasn't true to most of the appearances of the Riddler over the years, but it was close enough. It just blows my mind that DC won't allow apostrophes after their characters' last names on any new ride but will allow Riddler to be painted colors that don't properly represent him. Granted, they used the same color scheme on Riddler at SFOT, so something must be up. I know this was an unnecessarily critical post, and the colors wont stop me from riding it, but I am just too dumbfounded not to speak my mind.
  21. Those slides do look great. Please, report back to us in detail!
  22. Ah, yes. My bad. I read his post too quickly and thought he essentially said "4 person cars with two per row". Either way, I don't see how this prototype still couldn't end up looking like the concept art. And I'm sure the length of the train would be dependent on the park's request.
