The current trains already have maverick-like restraints, so that'd be kinda unnecessary. I have to agree that the trains should stay the same. They work really well and I had no head banging at all, even though it was far from smooth! If I was a park I would spend the extra money on theming. -
Going to parks alone?
Henry M replied to alilstronger's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love the freedom of going to a park by myself. It is great to be able to stop when you want to stop and re ride when you want to re ride. I have never felt lonely either. On the other hand, by going with people it gives you another person to share the experience with. I would say there is no problem with going to park alone, however middle aged women get asked questions and get dirty looks when on their own in a park -

This is a picture from my London TR which I did not post, but I feel it is relevant to this topic. Trying to take a nice picture of Canary Wharf from Greenwich, then this pops up! What the hell!! Look at the size of it. They were down a bank quite a long way too. Nooooo! -
B&M vs Intamin

Funny. I think there is more LOVE for Intamin, but more like for B&M. Does that make any sense? -
Alton Towers Discussion Thread

VR on The Smiler? Nah! Advertising would have started 10 years ago for it. I am surprised nobody has said lab bar Smiler, but I know it won't happen as the GP would NOT buy into a rollercoaster that goes upside down 14 times with a lap bar, and recently crashed. -

This is so true! In the cadets, the enemy is always referred to red forces. Vertical accelerator sounds cool and technical...just like Ferrari! -
My top drops would be Oblivion, for the sustained airtime and hole, Stealth, as it is the tallest drop I have been on and finally I feel Olympia Looping deserves a mention, it is really disorientating and it feels like vertical. Also it flows so well into the loop. I am looking forward to Expedition Ge Force. Is it as good as it looks?

Hi all. It has been a while that I have done a trip report, but for two months, I have had a slight issue logging on to TPR Anyway in that time, I went to London in the off season to do some stuff to take my mind away from working. Firstly, I visited the Shard and Borough Market. Sadly I do not have any pictures from the Shard, as I took my new 360 camera, and TPR is not compatible with this type of media, sorry. The Shard is London's tallest building. Although the weather was poor, the views were great. While not as tall as buildings in other places, the Shard is a must do attraction in London. The large viewing gallery makes it easy take in the panoramic views of London, even on the busiest days. Very well organised as well, with a fast moving queue to get up in the lifts and back down. The bad weather made everything looks really far away, and the Eye was barely visible. A highlight was the open top , as people did not stay for too long, meaning it was not as busy. Borough market is really pretty, and is littered with quaint food stores and an unearthly, heavenly smell fills the air. You could fill yourself up on free tasters from a range of food so good, it felt like I was being drugged.I am not sure about the history of the place, but it is worth a visit if you are by the Shard. Next I went to visit the British Museum, London Sea Life aquarium and the London Eye. I do have pictures or these. The British Museum was good, while it is an attraction, it is pushing the theme park boundaries. None the less, it was very interesting, and some great artifacts, along with a stunning building. Secondly the Sea Life Aquarium, more my area. I thought (based on past experience) it was going to be a waste of time, but was actually really good, and had a nice touch of "Merlin Magic" to it. The best part was the incredible audio throughout the aquarium, creating a tranquil and immersive atmosphere, something I have never had before in an aquarium. Every area had its own soundtrack. Anyone who has been to Sea Life knows it is just fish. Fish. Fish... However it was so relaxing sitting by a tank, watching fish swim by, with beautiful music, I have no reason to complain. Next, I went onto the London eye, as the queue was not too big. Recently I went up the Shard when visibility was poor. Luckily, the visibility was excellent and the views were great. As it was the evening, everything had a pleasant orange glow. I then tried to get into the London Dungeons. I say tried, because they did not let me in, due to the fact you have to be over 16 if you want to enter alone. As I was alone, and under 16, I was denied entry, unless I teemed up with another family, but I could not be bothered. While I understand rules and regulations and the fact I should have checked, it seemed strange I was able to go into the Amsterdam Dungeons by myself at 14, and nobody questioned it. After that, I went back to the aquarium, a perk of being by yourself and not having other people telling you what to do. Yes, I went twice it was that good! Biggest surprise was Sea Life, and I would definitely recommend a visit, even on a busy day. I had to drag myself into it (after being refused entry to the Dungeons) and was pleasantly shocked by the quality and enclosures. British museum artifacts. The detail on these is insane! Flared nostrils and veins make it look so life like. These are from Grease, but look like they are from Heaven. Half repulsed, half stunned. More impressive artifacts from Egypt. For people who have a fetish for hieroglyphics. Another horse, but this was seriously huge. Now onto the beauty of Japan. While I am not into Samurai things, this does look pretty bad a$$ Flexibility mixed with strength and fear, made this the ultimate armor. Fish It does look old fashioned, but it does not bother me. Waterfalls added to the atmosphere. A range of tanks and fish. Also this was mildly educational as well. New off season GAME! Think up more than five captions for an Aquarium TR! The award for the most entertaining fish goes to... This guy! He moved around the glass, using the power of his mouth at lightning speed. Fun and interesting to watch. Mandatory London picture. Now, onto the eye. Why not? Unlike the Shard, I actually god some good views. A quater of the way up, I had a better view ofLlondon than at the top of the Shard. That does not mean the Shard it bad, it was the luck of the draw. Looking across. The pods have great all round visibility and I was the youngest person there, so it was very peaceful. While you cannot ever get excellent, unique pictures on the eye, I like this one. A little bit higher now. Whoa!! I can actually see the Shard! AND CANARY WHARF!!! I hate the Coca Cola stuff, but what can you do? This summs up the London Eye really. Evening draws in. Sadly the sun was in the way of the houses of Parliament, but someone might want to see them. The eye gives the best views of the Thames, and it feels like you are basically on it. Blue skys and views. What more could one ask for? Back to earth. Walking to the station along the Thames was really nice, and a great way to end a great day. Henry M is back...for now... Crocodile or alligator relaxing on a rock. NO! Stop the show! You got the wrong envelope! Moonfish has won most entertaining fish. This is no joke... Now lets speculate for a week in the news how this happened. More waterfalls They also had a penguin enclosure which was very well done.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Henry M replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A crazy idea I had was a lay down coaster where you started sitting upright and you leave the station, then go through a dark ride sequence (backwards of course) then as you are in the sitting position, the track does a half loop, going downwards. As you lean back, following the track (imagine the sensation) the seats move into the lying position, which by that point will by the flying position at the bottom of the loop. Then you leave the dark ride section and fly through the rest of the course. This is sort of viable if the seats work. At no point would there be too much negative g force, as the seats will move while in the inverted half loop. It would feel like jumping off a building ... backwards ... in the dark ... then someone (Superman or something) picks you up. -
Official RCT3 Help Thread
Henry M replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Hi, I made a simple boat ride in RCT3, like I have done before and had no problems, and when it came into the station, the boat simply blew up. FOR NO REASON!!! Just BOOM! It was a reproduction of Tidal wave if that helps. Just routine testing, leading to it looking like something had been planted there. -
Hi, you said when you banned me that you thought my pictures in my last TR were really bad. I agree with some of them, like the sideways ones and the drop tower, however are there any other ways I can improve on the TR to make it better and more enjoyable for everyone to read, as after all that is why I do them. I asked you this in an e-mail when I asked to remove my ban, but that did not happen, nor did I get a reply. I appreciate you think the pictures were bad, but could you give some more detail so I can improve, rather than just knowing they are bad. Thanks in advance.

Robb, what would you do if TPR were to shut down?
Henry M replied to flagrockerthegreat's topic in Ask Alvey
^ I do, I look at it every day -
Although you did not ask me, I would suggest public transport. You can get easily around Germany by the trains, for example from Phantasialand, catch a bus to Cologne then train to Frankfurt, then train to Mannheim then bus/taxi to Holiday park. You could then catch the plain from near Europa park (If they go to Hamburg). Also about maximum height. I have seen at many parks in the UK maximum restrictions for height, of 2 meters (198cm) so you should be fine, however to further console you, I have never seen it checked or someone turned away for being too tall. Hope this helps, Henry M

Theme parks without coasters

I thought the thread was called theme parks for a reason. I could name so many water parks without credits. A decent thread would actually be water parks with creds. -
Theme parks without coasters
Henry M replied to Hexeffects's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Robin hill in the Isle of Wight is a cred less theme park, but they are moving away from calling themselves a theme park and calling it a country park. It has a pirate ship and a motion simulator and a toboggan run (Like an alpine coaster, just on a metal chute slide thing, it is pretty fun and the closest thing to an alpine coaster I have done.) -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Henry M replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Coaster enthusiasts? Nah I kinda, not really, hate to bring this back up but why is this the case with a lot of us? I know at least 70% of enthusiasts I have encountered have been kinda "different" in the way that when it comes to things other than coasters they kinda don't know how to blend in. I have met some cool coaster folks who actually do things other than coasters but they are rare. It is hard to blend in, especially when you see people who can rave about football and video games with their friends and yourself being the only person you can talk to about rollercoasters. When you try to get your mum and sister into rollercoasters and they get so bored they eventually start being sarcastic and yell at you. It especially all comes out when they have drunk a bit. Then other people around you call you sad for knowing lodes of rollercoasters. Then you become totally isolated . This is why you then get socially awkward as that is what happens when you have nobody to talk to about the one thing you can confidently talk about. Which could explain your statistic of 70% of coaster enthusiasts being "different" when they talk. Confidence is further lost in one's self when they notice in themselves how badly integrated into 'normal' society they have become, leading them, and who they are, to be backed up into a metaphorical and mental corner of their mind. A dark place. This is why being banned for a month totally sucked. So you aren't interested in anything that your friends's are interested in? No sports? Nothing? Also if you were banned for a month you could got to Clusterfarce. It's nowhere near as good as TPR but it can still work as a substitute. I got into European Coaster Club. I don't know why but CF seems kind of creepy. No offence but some of the people look like they would pay so much money to go on that boat just to see a coaster closer. ECC is good though.
