  1. Wooooooww! I cannot believe that thought crossed your mind. You think a thrill ride that could not warrant the queue to keep it operating at a thrill park, would move to a family park where the height restriction dissallows its construction and would have even less queues. Mmmm.
  2. Amazing. You would have almost thought the country was...normal. I would ride those coasters for sure!
  3. Nobody is taking slammer. Why would you? It would never run in another park, unless they had some top notch engineers who could make parts for the ride themselves. Don't kid yourself, it is not being relocated, and definitely not to the UK.
  4. I think I have missed something. What is Symbolica? I get it is a really nice posh themed ride, but what does it DO? It is just a carriage ride through a very nice looking castle thing? I don't quite understand. Yes, it looks amazing and intricate, but I am not really excited by this. It that the whole point of the ride? A magical calm ride through the castle?
  5. The coaster looks great, but are those pictures allowed on TPR? Maybe you were just photographing a crane, a lamp post, a porter loo and tree, and coincidentally in the background there was a coaster
  6. Do we actually KNOW the first drop is a messed up, curved dive, or is is just a curved drop, followed by an inversion? Looks very unlike B&M to me.
  7. I don't mind it on small rides, like disney rides and mine trains, but it is not essential.
  8. ^ I hope so, it is a great ride, but I feel it needs new trains. That is all. It is possible, although they may have to be custom designed, but it would maintain the cool ride, but more comfortable.
  9. I actually quite like the decayed look that it shared with Nemesis at Alton Towers, it really fits in I think. And I actually have a californian friend who has it as their number 2 somehow. I still don't get why but whatever. ^ I get you completely, and was about to post something similar. I love how the ride looks rusted and kind of dodgy. A re-paint would make it looks like a modern thing, which it is not. It has character. It looks like it belongs in some dilapidated strange mythical land, and it works. New trains however would not be a bad idea. They should not get ride of a ride design which is still being produced today brand new, however with the space cleared by Slammer, a full revamp and new coaster is not to be excluded within the next few years. My theory is that Colossus has two years left (including this season), then on the plot the two rides leave, one coaster will be added. Maybe.
  10. ^ This. I notices this at Phantasialand where they have fast lane, but it is rarely used. It meant the queues moved. Always. So satisfying and removed the stress of a stationary line, or half the train being for fast pass people.
  11. ^ I guess it is a dig at Japan being querky and weird.
  12. ^ Thanks for posting. That wooden coaster looks really nice. Also, yes, you can say BOOBS on TPR!!!
  13. ^ Colossus is fine if you ride in one of the lower seats, that is odd numbered rows. That is one of the things I insist. When the ride-ops gesture to an empty even numbered row, I say no to it, and I don't think I am the only one to find this out, as the even rows often have one train less of a queue. I urge you to ride odd numbered rows, otherwise this really good coaster turns into a death trap. In other news, Slammer is dead. To pay tribute, I Photoshoped an old picture I took last year, to try and show it in its glory. Such a shame, I am devastated. Heard about it from Thorpe Park Mania, read up about it on their page if you want. RIP, great ride, great memories. The last Sky Swat is now in the history books.
  14. I guess it is out of fear. I like a ride op to check my restrain on bigger rides, to reassure me that it is down far enough. If they push it down further, I know there is a reason, if they don't I can enjoy the ride without a tight restraint nor having to hold on thinking I may fall out (Sky Scream on my first ride, before I realized the next click was miles away).
  15. ^^ Awww. My first . That feels nice, almost as nice as the rain on my face...
  16. ^ Just a question, why does Silver Star beat Shambhala?
  17. Is there any British weather besides rain? It's raining now If you can't beat 'em join 'em.
  18. ^ My god. You are doing this on purpose now. Pleeeeease can someone make a weather thread, this is getting tedious. This I come on this page to get away from British people speaking about the weather, only to find Americans love speaking about the weather loads too!
  19. So...We are now talking about weather on a theme park forum. Okay... I have a genuine question. How long does it take on a busy day, with fastracks to do all the rides?
  20. The only one I have ridden is Expedition GeForce, and that only counts as a mega. I wiould say it does count... because it is very big and feels it.
  21. I'll kick off this thread with a zip line story from quite a few years back. We were staying in a hotel in the coffee region in Columbia. It was a small hotel, family run, with a strange man with a strange obsession with his shot gun. Not sure if he wanted to protect us or kill us. And if he was protecting us, what from! This was not a luxury resort, it had rusty houses, rusty cutlery, and rusty swings for kids to play on when the adults get board of them. But there was one more rusty collection of items. A MASSIVE set of zip wires! When I say massive, I mean massive. There was about four wires, the longest spanning over 400 meters over old, hunched-back women, picking through the emerald green coffee plants. Of course, I had to have a go. While the brown weather worn wires were no wider than my thumb, I gained a small reassurance that there were two there, however the fact they need two is not reassuring. How would one wire cope with my weight if two could not? Using the age old art of pointing, we managed to get some semi-official looking people to open the lines for us. After slipping into an old harness and getting on rock solid helmet and a glove, I seemed ready to go. The staff gave me instructions on what to do. They said they I had to keep my hand on the pulley and rope at all times, unless I am going too fast, and in that case, let go of the pulley and using the gloved hand, hold onto the wire to slow myself down. Fool proof, hey! Then the time came to depart off the creaking wooden platform, with planks missing, and fly off down the hill side, into the forest on a hill almost half a kilometer away. First the member of staff went down to the bottom. He shouted something I assume meant go, and I was off. Immediately I began flying over the picturesque landscape, like an eagle, if not as elegant. It was the best zip wire I had done to date. The fact is was dodgy and back street make it all the more exhilarating. As I reached the end, I was still flying with tremendous speed. I lost my nerve and grabbed hold of the wire. Turns out, I was not going too fast, and ended up slowing down way before the platform, being suspended in mid air. It was then that I remembered I was suspended from two thin wires, attached to creaking wood. After some shouting from the staff and strange noises from me, I pulled myself along the wire to the end, and finished my first terrifying zip wire, arriving at what could only be called Malaria Mountain. Swarms of flies encompassed me, taking tiny bites out of my flesh. It was only the day after that I realized the beyond itchy consequences. We climbed up the hill to another platform, leading back to the original hill. Desperate to escape Malaria Mountain, I attached my harness and set off. Once again, the ride was simply stunning. High speeds, a refreshing breeze and great heights over great views. It seemed to last forever. Until I saw where I was landing. I had learned not to grab hold of the wire any more, but I really wanted to. My destination was a field full of cow pat, and an angry bull, who did not seem to find the whizzing noise from the wires relaxing. Skimming my feet on wet poo, I landed conveniently in a small area without any cow pat. However, the bull was looking at me. It was not the friendly "Hi! How are you?" Look you get from New Zealand cows, nor the curious look from English cows. This was pure murder in his eyes, a sight not unlike the man with a gun gave me when I said, "Hola" to him in the morning. Again, I wanted to get out of the area as fast as possible. I noticed the next zip wire was fraying a little at the edges, but I did not care. The cow/bull/demon thing was approaching fast. The staff went down first, leaving me alone with the cow, who was now no more than five meters away As soon as he touched the bottom, I was off. Again, an amazing flight. I could not choose my favorite, they were all so good. I arrived back at malaria mountain, and quickly got on the final zip wire back to 'safety'. While this was the most insane and scary thing I had ever done for so many reasons, it was one of the best 'attractions' (if you can call it that) I have ever done. It beats so many rollercoasters on thrill and fun, and it is completely raw. Yes, it would not pass health and safety. Yes, I got told off. Yes, I got bitten to death. Yes, I could have died. But it does not matter. Everything that should have made this awful made the experience even better. Not to mention the wires themselves were stunning as well. I would definitely do this again. The only picture I have of the actual line, but you get the idea. Note the rusted pulley.
  22. From what I hear stand ups are bad, however, the one I have been on was great. Is Shockwave at Drayton Manor an exception?
  23. Question. Why do people throw up all the time on Saw? I have not heard as much from other Eurofighters, but there are lots of videos of people puking on the ride and I have heard from many people the ride closed due to vomiting. Is it due to the themeing, or how rough the ride is, or is the layout generally more disorientating and nauseating than most rides? I was once about to board the ride last year, and was faced with a large puddle in front of me.This ride seems to cause more problems than the old X!
  24. Great tr! What happened at Alton Towers?
