  1. In another life. When was the last time you felt air time like this. Oh Yeah! (From my recent TP TR)
  2. ^ I went yesterday and there looked from the outside to be a lot of work still going on. Guests going in had to where hard hats. Closed, and still work ongoing. I feel soft opening will start about one day before opening if it happens.
  3. Darien Lake
  4. Hi, In my recent Thorpe Park TR I got some more pictures of DBGT and the new sign. The TR can be found on the last page of this. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71751&start=20
  5. ^ Up until last year the park had a top scan, but it hardly ever worked up until last year which probably explains it.
  6. So, today I arrived at Thorpe Park at 3:40pm, and the park closed at 5pm. I had 80 minutes to get on every ride in the park. My challenge to myself was "Round the Island in Half an Hour!" Sadly, even with next to zero queues and running between rides, I failed. However, I did do round the island in 45 minutes, including two rides on Stealth. Basically a success. You don't recognize the size of the park until you are running from ride to ride. In other news, the park is functioning as well as it usually does and there is no news to update on, except for a few small details. A very good day at a very good park. That is me done for my home park this year. After the first 45 minutes I slowed down to a jog and rode some of the other rides. Rush is better than it was last year (see old TR) and Vortex kicked A$$ as my final ride of the day. Some great force, and it swung very high. It almost felt like a German fun fair version of the ride and had violent airtime. Awesome! I took another ride was on Colossus front row as well, as there was no queue. It is such a shame how good a ride it is in the front. Seriously world class. Shame it is so rough on even numbered rows. I did not get may pictures because I was riding like mad, but here are some I took. Saw: The Ride is a fun Gerstlaurer Eurofighter, with some very good themeing. The straights are smooth, but brace on a corner or else you will get beaten up! This picture worked surprisingly well in my opinion. Here is the drop for all Eurofigher fans out there. Samurai was annoying. It was open, but they had to get 15 people on board to cycle the ride. As I was the only person there and I had such short time, I sadly skipped it. Nemesis Inferno, to me, seems to get better with every ride. I used to hate it to hell, but every time I ride it it surprises me with more force than I expect. Compared to the Swarm, this thing is super intense. In reality it is not, but I was going to skip this, and am glad I did not. Highlight is the zero G roll. No drop tower for me, but normally I would. Very forceful. GO! GO! GO! Stealth is a great ride, if short. It gives possibly the best airtime of any coaster in the UK Merlin parks and its launch sure packs a punch, not to mention it goes 80mph! Both times I rode back row, and the airtime being pulled over the top of the twisting drop was immense. This gets me exciter for Expedition Ge-Forces first drop, which should be even better. See the air time before the ride even gets to the top. Yes, it is short, but it is a massive rush and is worth it when it is walk on. Swarm. Meh. Enjoy the pictures. It is fun, but it is an over and done ride. First drop is good, and helix by the water is fun but overall very underwhelming. Nice themeing though. This year they added a good effect around this head chopper. As the train passes a loud sound effect as it you hit the side plays, and it was effective enough to make me jump and other people scream. Success. I hope it stays. It is not a BAD ride. I am just being honest when I say it is pretty dull. I used to be in my top ten, but I am not sure any more. Unlike Nemesis Inferno, this ride keeps getting worse every time I ride it. I wanted a good picture of Colossus, but it was a one train every five minutes thing, and by the point I got the camera pointing in his direction, the ride had closed for the day. The cobra roll is very forceful and disorientating and the consecutive twists is a nice element. Finally, Vortex. Getting higher. Running very well. Another one I almost missed but am glad I did not. Nice ride. Good old KMG. The Rush(ian) dog standing tall. Why is there a dog? WHYYY!! See, better than last year. Rush's controls. I asked before doing this, but i find it interesting. Closed. Slightly too early. Still closed. DBGTROTD! I may or may not come back to ride this. Not sure if I can be bothered this year. Bye Swarm Through the trees! Floaty wet water ride. Spinny wet water ride Wet wet water ride and great ride in the background. The dome has had some significant improvements this year. The new IMAScore audio really lightens the place up and there are new/refurbished eating and drinking areas. Nah, but I am glad I came. A very nice view. Zoom on saw. Thanks for reading. Any good or bad feedback welcome (as long as it is constructive not just insulting ). Next TR will be from Germany! See you then.
  7. Hi, I am creating a mini TR from my one hour twenty minute visit to Thorpe Park today. It was very good. And fast. Need to sleep now. Welcome to the island! More to come soon.
  8. Hmmmm. So from the advice given, I think I should first hit up the parks new water ride, then the haunted castle thing, then definatly get a few rides on the log flume, not forgetting the star flyer, and if I have time at the end of all that to go on Sky Scream. But Ex-G Will be a miss, as everyone seems to think it is awful. Sounds good Nah, I will be tearing up my thighs on Ex-G most of the afternoon!
  9. Possibly Phantasialand with Taron and Chiapas, or Holiday park, Ex-G and Sky Scream.
  10. I saw that ad a while ago and thought it was great. They have really given publicity all over Europe for this ride. In the London Underground there are large posters of the ride.
  11. I will be visiting this park in a few weeks and wanted to know which rides I should head to first in the park. I will be arriving at 12 and will have 6 hours till park close. Any tips?
  12. Is that a launch out of the station? That is really cool if it is.
  13. Hi, For Germany, did you want some pictures of the new area and the ride signs for the new rides at Holiday Park? I will be visiting soon, and could get you some pictures if you wanted, however I assume you would have asked if you wanted them. Also, here is one of DBGT: Derren Browns Ghost Train sign.
  14. Welcome to being a Teenager. I am one year ahead (about to do what the UK calls GCSE's), and while I want to give advice on what helps me, I am worried I may get banned. Most of the time I give my POV, or advice I get banned or nearly banned. As I write this, I look at my signature... Hell! I will give my advice anyway. What I do that helps is put my head down to some serious hard work, and have aims in my head to stick to, and motivation at the end of a dark and painful tunnel that is work. Always. That could be watching my favorite TV show, or have a slice of cake. Something. If the tunnel is really large, like it is at the moment, I have a massive motivation to keep working. At the moment, I have a coaster trip to Germany to Phantasialand and Holiday Park coming up, which makes the work worth while. The greatest motivation though i sthe third layer motivation, becomming a rollercoaster designer (for you, architect). This will give you momentum, and soon your grades will start to climb, so long as you want them to. Keep this momentum, and although it hurts to give your whole body, soul and brain to every subject at school and home, it will pay off. When you get those moments of joy. Let is encapsulate you, and don't resist it. When a good day comes along or a good hour or a good minute, enjoy it and make the most of it. The when you get back to work, and you are finding the going tough, remember those times of happiness, and remember they will happen again, and remember the more work you do now, you will be rewarded with more happiness later. It is hard, as I can say first hand, but you are not alone. It is those people who care about how their grades are going that are successful. You have a great aim in your head to become an architect, and I have full faith that you can do it. Whether you will do it depends on if you let all this get you down and you mess up, or you grit your teeth and get up. Hope this helps. Robb or any other site admins, sorry if this is stupid in advance, but please don't ban me. This is honestly what I think is the best advice and works for me. If you think is it obnoxious or anything else, just delete the comment or something.
  15. 7/10, gotta give credit for a ride of who is also an enthusiast!
  16. Here are some more pictures of some more awesome themeing going into this park. Stunned yet again. These were found on the Facebook page. A new gate going up. A magical area becoming even more special. Workers in the rain. And finished! This looks great.
  17. ^Sorry Robb, it was not meant to annoy or be obnoxious, it was just an opinion. Upon further inspection, I feel my lack of judgement on the loop is due to the large track size, which is larger than normal, meaning my perspective was incorrect.
  18. Thanks, I will probably do that! Not sure about good weather, but I know spinning coasters can have a low capacity. I did not think of Winjas first, but it makes sense.
  19. Yay, mini Rage! Loved Rage, with the pop of air on the drop, and great loop and stall turn, and hang time on the twist and nice final helix. At first I was confused about not having the final helix, but this seems to work well, and makes the layout even more compact. This is what Gerstlaurer should have done before lap bars came in; small compact coasters, making the most of compact lift hill and steep drop. Why Saw! Why!!!
  20. I feel like they may of attached the wrong sign I did not see that the first time! Lops! It just shows this is still a small park, which makes small mistakes, which makes it all the more awesome to see their massive 2018 coaster!
  21. Henry. How the hell do you know anything about this project? Definitely echoing chickenbowl in bitter that the crazy airtime hill is gone. Slightly rude. No, I was not echoing, I would prefer the term, agreeing. While I do not know any more about this project, I looked at the bottom of the loop, and it very similar shape to one you would expect from a B and M, rather than the ones on the large Mack coasters or Premier's Full Throttle loop. I am also not bitter, as I will never go to this park in my life, so don't mind, however I find this project very interesting. As someone else said, it could just be the angle...
  22. ^ Thanks. I guess some people could count these as theme parks without coasters. The eye is just a big ferris wheel!
  23. ^ That loop actually looks quite small. It is definitely not going to have hang time/inverted airtime at the top though, the clothoid is too steep, so it looks to ride like a B and M loop.
  24. This improvement to themeing is exactly why I chose this park to be the one I visit in April. I can hardly name any parks which put so much effort into such amazing and exquisite detail to the park, never mind one which every year keeps adding and adding to the rides to make them better! Every park I have been to before seems to make a ride, then think they are done. Maybe a re-theme, but mostly everything is left to loose color, effects become outdated or brake, and a thin to thick layer of mold covers everything. This park looks to take amazing care over all rides, which is amazing to see. As I will be visiting during the Easter holidays (during the week) I expect it will be busy on my visit. I am saving Taron for the evening ERT, so what ride should I head to first and second upon opening to reduce my queues?
