  1. I wouldn't really say the worst visit but my second time to DLR, (The first time I actually remember going) we got separated from the rest of our group. This happened because we told my dad we were going to go on the Submarine Voyage and he told us he'd wait at the exit. After we get off, they were gone. Only me and my 2 cousins were together. After a half hour of searching and getting nowhere we decided to say forget it and just enjoy ourselves...which we did until park closing..We finally found the rest of our group waiting on Main Street as they were getting ready to talk to security to try to find us.
  2. What if you were to try to capture it onto the external hard drive?
  3. Never rode it but I heard about the Bomb Bay slide at Wet 'n Wild Orlando where the rider stands up inside this 'missile' and they open up the bombay doors below, releasing the person down the slide. That would be scary, yet fun. http://www.wetnwild.com/orlando/Main/Main.asp?ContentID=1&CategoryId=4&SubCategoryId=1 Probably my favorite slide I"ve been on so far was actually a 2 person slide at WaterWorld Concord. We almost lost it due to how intense it was. (Ok, it's intense if you have a 300 pounder riding with you). We actually put our hands out to try to slow the thing down because we were riding walls even on drops. Luckily, the slide was enclosed. When we hit the splash pool below, we were ejected off our rafts and into the water. And as a sidenote, the 300 pounder was one of my friends. Also, riding the halfpipe with a heavier person's always great too.
  4. If you up your budget an additional $50 or so, you can get a decent camcorder. Don't expect the best out of a $200 camcorder, which would be the JVC's. JVC's are ok for playback but recording sucks big time. We use JVCs at work but only for playback due to their cheap prices. My Canon cost me $300 and works great. Recording's great, playback's great. If you're wondering, I have the Canon ZR200 but the ZR300 has the little nightshot thing on it for nighttime recording, which is around $350. Do some researching on the internet prior to your purchase as you may not be happy after your first recording session.
  5. Good thing my time-keepers are my computer and my cell phone. Oh, and my car's clock has been set since last spring as I forgot how to set the clock in my car. Oh well, I'm off to bed as I'll lose an hour of perfectly good sleep!
  6. Yes, it's the Giant Dipper. I used the photo from (again) Dave Bennet's "Roller Coaster" book as it has some nice hi-res shots. Thank Adobe for Photoshop as I was able to "Color" my work before I actually color it. Here's a sample of what it would look like with color. (Those 3 color spots are my "palette" so I can just use the eyedropper tool.
  7. Ok, I know this technically could be in the TPR Art forum but I think as well as you may think that this deserves it's own topic. First off, I'm assuming you know what Scratchboard is. For those who don't, it is simply a peice of paper coated with a thin layer of clay stuff, and coated with black India Ink. The artist takes an Xacto Knife and scratches the black off, showing the white layer underneath. So yesterday, I started a new scratchboard project for my advanced art class. And being a coaster fanatic as I am, I obviously take upon the challenge of a coaster. Many of you have seen my stippled B&M coaster, Mantis which looked quite difficult but the one I chose to do is much more difficult (yet less painful to the hand.) I'll let the WIP tell you the rest. I will keep you updated as I progress within the next week on it and add color to it. Lastly, I can't end this topic without you guys having to guess what the coaster is, so go on...take a guess!
  8. Pretty much, providing that you're using firewire to capture, it will take as long as what you have on tape. Say you shot 60 minutes, it will take 60 minutes to capture it onto a computer. From there you can compress it, put it directly onto DVD, and voila! You're done...or you can make life easier if you're lazy and shell out $30 bucks and send your stuff to Wal-Mart to send to us to do the DVD conversion for you...but you'd be faster doing it yourself if you have all the stuff available.
  9. As much as I doubt I'd make it due to school and stuff, I'll have to ask my friend about this as he's somewhat into riding coasters...but not as much as me.
  10. Let me get this straight...Is this is free to those who don't even have a Six Flags season pass? This sounds sweet!
  11. How could you forget the infamous Houndeprutt (sp?) aka Dog Fart Coaster? I think that Hershey's Roller Soaker should have been named the "Hershey Squirts" as you get squirted on a Hershey Park coaster. Also, let's not forget Whizzer that was at PGA and at SFGA. As you know, it's known for jokes like "I have to take a whizzer" and stuff like that...now thinking about it, the name "Willard's Whizzer" doesn't sound too right either.
  12. Maybe in some of the TR's I've seen...especially Robbs. I"m looking for the 'well behaved' new members we used to get... It seems that many that registered so far this year have gone and broken the rules, getting topic-locked, and ultimately getting banned. (Sorry to you new guys that are well behaved and recently joined..please don't take offense...I'm just seeing a lot of 'non-listening' new members) On the better side of things, what is the cheapest you've seen a Scorpion Coaster Dynamix set for? Ebay doesn't seem to have any right now.
  13. I never knew that they had a "Rapids Lazy River" in the park. Last I know, it was just a standard rapids ride. (Look at the rapids and you'll see people riding on inner tubes like they would in the lazy river)
  14. Did I mention that I can speak/know 5 languages: L337 5p34k, Spanish, ASL, English, and Coaster Enthusiest.
  15. Ostrich: Do you newbs really think you can keep up with me? I'm just jogging right now!
  16. In CA, us 2003 graduates lucked out with what was called the "REACH Test" which was far easier than the CAHSEE. We were the last of the batch to to the REACH Test.
  17. I've ridden only 1 H 'n B (SLC) which was Kong at SFMW. First time I rode it, it felt smooth. I like the compact layout and if it were smooth like a B&M, then they'd have good competition with B:TR's. After my first ride on Kong, the ride has gotten rougher (even when they added new trains on it) by the day. Now, I won't wait any longer than 15 minutes for it. Surprisingly though, it seemed to be running fast when it was pouring rain.
  18. That's cool! Kinda reminds me of how shiny RCT's water is.
  19. Well, Ninja's the only Suspended I've ridden, which I rode in the front seat. The other thing I liked about it was the fact that my mom was able to ride it without side effects. She can't do roller coasters without feeling sick to her stomach, which we found out when she rode Space Mountain. (I think she has Vertigo or something). She enjoyed Ninja as it reminded her of the days of ridding Whizzer at PGA back in the day when she used to go on all these rides. BBW looks cool as well, especially that drop over the river.
  20. I'm so hooked on video games that I just had to name my dog Zelda, as mentioned before...Meet Zelda! (I know, that should be in the pets thread but she's an exception as she's named Zelda...hopefully I don't get sued for naming my dog a copyrighted name by some silly person!) woof!
  21. When it comes down to it, the typical American's top priority is money...even before family. It's sad but true. A person pulls something stupid and blame the company for their negligence as an easy way to make money. And why are Americans so obsessed with money? Maybe because everything's getting more expensive (like gas prices right now) and they can't afford anything as their job's being a tightwad. That's what I think. Yes there are some law suits that I think are legit such as someone getting injured at work due to an unsafe/neglected work place while on the otherhand, there's the stupid reasons such as people blaring their iPod too loud and blame Apple for their mistake.
  22. Picture a car going down the street, displaying your favorite coaster POV... Seriously, that won't be legal so therefore, would be completely pointless. That would lead to the idea that someone spent tons of money to 1) Get it ripped off and nearly killed trying to defend himself and 2) Purchase something you can rarely use. I'll stick to my brake-dust covered standard metal rims I have right now.
  23. Ok, sorry for the triple post but here's an update...not to the ride it's self but here's a little preview I threw together last night which includes a full POV of V2 for those who don't have NL at all. Comments are welcome as this is my *first* coaster video I've ever made, though not actually filmed at a theme park. Special thanks to DDR for the music! v2 preview.wmv Enjoy your ride!
  24. I felt like I made a kind donation to Century Theaters tonight..Why do I say this? I payed $10 to go see Stay Alive and I heard more of some stupid immature kids laughing, talking, and over-exaggerated screaming. I really felt like giving them a kind "STFU" but you can't really do that in a packed theater around the wrong crowd of people. Really, if someone's going to watch a movie with their friends in the theater, they need to consider others in the theater and keep their mouths shut. It's not a social hall after all. To top that off, I had to sit in the second row from the front...nech-ache, headache, and you can name the rest. /rant
