  1. So far none. And with Wildfire at Kolmarden rumored to be closing, I think it'll be a while before I can get to one close by Italy. (LOOKING AT YOU MIRABILANDIA!)
  2. Well, it's official. Italy's oldest amusement park is open again! For anyone who isn't Italian (which accounts for, like, 3 of us), Luneur is located in the EUR area of Rome, and has been operating since 1953. The park, in a nutshell (for what I can remember, looking back at it today (I was 6 when I last went) was really a dumbed down version of Knoebel's, only without the woodies and instead of Impulse, it had a Schwarzkopf Looping star. The one that is now at Zoomarine, to be exact. Its main draws were the iconic ferris wheel that still stands today in the front of the park, the already mentioned Anton coaster along with four other roller coasters, an excellent collection of flat rides, including a Zamperla Rotoshake, a 150ft SBF Visa drop tower, Italy's only Gravitron ride, and many more; and best of all, dark rides. Lots and lots of dark rides. The reason it closed in the first place (this was around 2008, btw), is because the park's management (not sure if it was family owned, like Cavallino Matto, though) auctioned the park off to Cinecitta Entertainment, who went on to build Cinecitta World two years ago. And boy, they messed up. Badly. Before they bought the park, it had no admission price and all the rides were upcharge. Meaning that anyone could wander in, even just for a stroll (The atmosphere was very enjoyable). Those morons decided it was a good idea to get rid of that, and to have everyone pay admission to get in. After that, the park was f***ed. But what REALLY killed it, was the removal of the Looping Star. They kept saying how the park would eventually reopen for at least 6 years. Meanwhile, CCW, Zoomarine and Rainbow Magicland opened up, and by 2014 the people of Rome had pretty much given up. Fast forward to a few days ago and the Luneur reopens. However, not as people expected it to. The hate towards the new Luneur started at the beginning of the year, when they announced its definitive opening, stating that it was targeting children from 0-12 years old and that it would have nothing but kiddie rides (including a Wacky Worm) and extremely childish theming. The thing is, I don't hate the new Luneur as much as the next guy. That's because A: I'm not from Rome, B: I am aware that Rome has three of the best amusement parks in the country (a bit of an exaggeration). When people said they wanted the old Luneur back, they meant they wanted it back EXACTLY AS IT WAS. I see where they're going with the hate. Imagine Knoebel's closed down, and they then rebuilt it and replace it with something like ZDT's Amusement park without Switchback. However, I think they're overreacting. If this was anywhere else, I'd be extremely pissed. But it's Rome, so I can just drive a little futher down to go to Cinecitta' world and ride Altair. At least for the new Luneur they're just charging 2 euros for admission, instead of 20. That's an improvement, as far as I'm concerned. I know I wrote a heck ton of stuff, but just to close, some of the classic rides, like the Rotor, the Haunted house, and the mine train roller coaster, are still in the back of the park, SBNO. So potentially, these childhood memories of the people of Rome are gonna come back soon enough. Hopefully next year. Pictures! Credit to Parksmania.it and flickrhivemind.net The ferris wheel in all its former glory At least it looks prettier now. New Luneur now. The new Luneur is 90% kiddie ride, 10% SBNO classic ride Wacky worm! More kiddie rides! Log flume with drop tower Fun pinfari coaster in the front, Anton goodness in the back. The rotor and one of the haunted houses are still there, but not operating.
  3. ^Yes, Mount Olympus officially announced that they're getting a new ride called "The Wrecking Ball." It's gonna be exclusive to 2017, as you will be able to ride on a real full-sized wrecking ball (Miley style) as it rams you into its rides and coasters. Literally. The ride will relocate around the park weekly. Also, after this ride's operation, the park will close permanently.
  4. What would you say if someone made a Neon Coaster Game thread for it in the "Random, Random, Random" section of the Forum? Would you agree, Robb?
  5. I totally support this, although I doubt much of the content would be "PG-13", haha. I missed the note about the bus as well...the comments people have made are ridiculous and delusional. Having spent 10+ hours on a bus with other TPR members in Texas, I'd happily be on a stolen bus you guys! Snack time, bingo, quality video, jokes.. Simple problem, simple solution. Just have any curse words bleeped out. Often when bleeped words come really quickly one after the other, it adds to the funny factor! That's completely subjective, but IMO, it does make it funnier. Just look at the censored version of the "F-word" scene from South Park for example. I found it funnier than the original. Somehow. Either way, I'm all for this, Robb! Go for it!
  6. I did mean fourty I doubt that. There's no such word as "fourty." I know, I was quoting him as a joke. I found it more funny than it really was. I thought that was how you spelled it in the UK?
  7. ^Oh my... I almost cried when I read these. I'm sure they were tears of joy. I hope.
  8. Ehhh... Probably...? He said that he wants something along the lines of a steel-wood hybrid, but who knows? Maybe as he's looking at the RMC Catalogue, the T-Rex might attract his attention.
  9. Welp, it's official. Scrap RMC, CP is getting the relocated Vertigorama from Parque de la Ciudad! Here is the jewel we will see at CP next year! I'm so sorry. I couldn't control myself.
  10. In 2012, when I was still a borderline GP/Coaster Enthusiast, for some dumb reason when I went to Mirabilandia that year, I skipped iSpeed. A couple months later, there I was dreaming about it. And when I actually rode it in 2014, it felt exactly like it did in my dream!!! It's so strange how it feels like you are actually on the ride when you're really fast asleep! Oh, the wonders of the human brain.
  11. ^So unfortunate for the park to be in this situation. The media ain't making this much better for them. The Sun's headline says: Anyway, back to the ride announcement- what caught my attention was the DROP TOWER. I wonder what kind it'll be. think we're dealing with a Larson, but to my knowledge, the only two of those outside of the US are here in Jeddah and the other one is in the Philippines. There's none in Europe as far as I'm concerned since the Fabbri ones are quite similar and they're cheaper in terms of shipping. I think the two most valuable options would either be an SBF VISA tower or a Zamperla since those are both manufacturers which they've worked with and probably are more confident in dealing with them. The flume looks like a nice addition. It's weird to think that there's none in Ireland. As for the *presumed* RMC... I'm not too sure. Even if it is a hybrid, I think for this park they should just go with a traditional steel looping coaster, but then again, maybe not.
  12. ^Possibly. Ithink that in the future though, they should retheme that area as an expansion to the entrance "pirate area" with a pathway running down the lake which links the two areas together, in such a way that the front and the back of the park areas follow the same theming.
  13. ^Divertical is only open during the summer. Even then, it has a lot of downtime. By the way, the park is rumored to be getting something in 2017, according to its fanpage, just no legit announcements have been made yet.
  14. I think no hype whatsoever would be a bit of a stretch. There's hopefully gonna be announcements, but probably not at this stage. I think it's probably gonna be earlier than when BGW announced Tempesto.
  15. ^.... That's kinda why I bothered to mention it in the first place. I'm really sitting on a fence here, but I'm sorta leaning toward the anti-RMC Racer side. I can envision it, but I'm not really a fan of that idea.
  16. No. No it's not. Racer is awful!! We rode it once, and will never ride it again (unless it gets RMCed.) I'm all for an RMC Racer!! #MakeKingsIslandGreatAgain I'm not too sure if I agree about that. Racer has too great of a historical value and it would be foolish of KI to RMC it just like that. In fact, Racer was THE coaster that revitalized wooden roller coasters. IMO, if they really had to make it good *again*, they could just do what they did with Ghostrider. Then again, see Twisted Colossus.
  17. Beat me to it! I'm a big fan of this guy too. I've been following him since 2012. It feels good for once to have two things I like overlap.
  18. Thanks, Larry. That was kind of the very reason why I dreamt up of making this poll in the first place. And also because someone suggested it in the CP discussion thread.
  19. Ask and you shall receive... Done. If you look at the front page of the Theme Parks, Roller Coasters & Donkeys forum, you'll find the poll
  20. Hey guys. Following the heat about whether Mean Streak will open in 2017/18, someone suggested a poll to be made about it. There it is. Are you in Team '17, Team '18 or do you think it'll open later than 2018?
