Just about two months out from departure, getting pretty excited! Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever used Kennywood's line skipping passes? They seem actually pretty reasonable, and while I realize they're all (other than the all day unlimited option which is essentially a fast lane pass) single use, how quick are these passes? If it's a busier Monday when we're at the park or hit traffic on the four hour drive to the park in the morning (and we may not stay until closing with a lengthy drive to the motel) it may be something to look into when we're closer in to the trip. It looks like they have single use options, package options, as well as front/back seat options. Thanks for the help!

^The second big airtime hill and the three bunny hops are very good, the first airtime hill and drop and very "meh." It's a solid coaster overall, but I still prefer rides like Nitro or most other Intamin hyper/giga coasters. -
Agreed on every other El Toro as well lol. I think Maverick's two main airtime hills might be as or more intense than El Toro's (minus maybe the RT hill) but they're only for a split second which I assume is partially why they're allowed to happen. You know, ever since I got more into coasters a few years back, I haven't even ridden El Toro anywhere in front of car five. The back two rows almost always have a 1-train wait once you get past the stupid people crowding the front, and I think I'm just afraid to ride in the middle rows, in fear of losing out of another back row ride, if nothing else. I'll have to try it on a slow day but the back is where it's at for me. It's really amazing looking back how perfect they got the radius on El Toro's first drop. I love I-305 in the back and the drop is very good, but even being 70% longer and almost 10 degrees steeper it's nowhere near as ridiculous as El Toro's. I should also mention Millennium Force's first drop in the back at night. Not that it's super intense, but it's very long, floaty and fun and the view is unbeatable. I have a thing for Millennium Force so don't tell me it sucks lol.

I didn't see a recent/similar thread, but if I missed something please go ahead and merge/lock. What is the best singular moment of airtime? Not just considering how intense, or how prolonged the moment is, but all things considered--intensity, duration, location/scenery, anticipation (how HOLY SH*T it seemed), or any other notable features. For me, I'd have to go with the first drop in the back of the bull. The anticipation coming around the curve seeing the safari in front and Kingda Ka, followed by one of the better skylines of any park from 180 feet, then the front of the train starts to slowly fall below view from the back, then you're suddenly in the middle of one of the most intense ejector moments on any coaster. The "RT" hill later in the ride is a different level of insanity, but all things considered I enjoy the first drop for lasting longer and the overall experience. Thoughts? PC--James C youtube

What? I've ridden Silver Bullet countless time, and its one of the smoothest coasters I have ever been on. As I once told my friend, my head has never forcibly touched the OTSRs on Silver Bullet. There's a reason for this Side note--haven't ridden Silver Bullet. It was just spoon-fed to me though so I had to. -

Six Flags America had a teaser banner up in the water park the day it opened for a kiddie splash structure. Just something to keep in mind. Also, this is nothing like what Cedar Point did in 2015 for Valravn. That tipped off completely being a coaster with the wording and talk and the coaster legacy. This banner just says something will be added next year. That's it. -

Yeah but did they deserve $80M dollars for future expansions...? Yes, and I think it's even more clear now that it's happening. And it's not about "deserve," it's about business. -

Wait what? Lol you asked for some justification and you got it. I think it's 100% fair for people to be of the opinion that Afterburn is better than Volcano (I haven't been to Carowinds but I definitely prefer Raptor to Volcano). Now that people explain why they disagree you can't handle a valid opinion or you'll get cancer? Okay sure go find another "more mature" forum -

You shouldn't bother. You should go to Great Adventure instead. I don't see why anyone would do that, considering that KD is a better park. It was sarcastic because the OP posted the exact same thing in both threads. Kings Dominion might be a nicer park (to some people), but Great Adventure almost certainly has the better collection of rides. The rides at Great Adventure didn't make up for the bad atmosphere... Even then the only stand out thing at great adventure is El Toro (well and Kingda Ka, but that's just a gimmick) Agree to disagree on atmosphere and rides, but that's what makes it interesting, right? -

Yeah they're still nowhere near comparable. Sure SFA has two (especially crappy) relocated old coasters since Kings Dominion built I-305, but quality over quantity my friend. Cedar Fair poured some good money into WaterWorks WaterCity SoakLand whatever, as well as two major new thrill rides that equal the investment of a small coaster each, and a massive kiddie ride expansion/major park enhancements on top of that. Look at the big picture and then tell me Cedar Fair is "forgetting" Kings Dominion. -

Awesome TR, once again. I feel like at this point, between this, Dorney and Cedar Point/Kennywood reports, I plan trips based on your reviews and opinions, lol. I love how you break up blocks of text/stories/opinions between pictures. Makes it a lot easier to read and just more interesting. Looks like a nice park with a decent collection. Well done! -

It doesn't matter that it's only a few coasters because there's no way to get to more than few even in an hour. And it's some of the most popular rides that are open early anyways. Yes, early entry is absolutely worth it. If budgets an issue, stay at Breakers Express (especially if you're not planning on checking back into your room mid-afternoon). It's a decent value with all the perks and is a great location for being offsite. I don't know why more people aren't all over that place unless you really need the convenience of going back to your room during the day. -

Every time a giga coaster comes up in any Cedar Fair park thread you shoot it down saying giga coasters are somehow ruining the world and Cedar Fair is the devil. It makes me laugh every time but unfortunately you're serious. Serious question--being that Fury 325 is a very different ride than Intimidator and of course Diamondback, and being that both are excellent rides, what makes giga coasters so awful? Seriously they're kick-ass rides and I'd rather have two great coasters than one great and once mediocre (like a wing coaster or some alternative). -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Password121 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Probably because they are really good coasters? So are MACK launched coasters and RMC coasters . . . I still dont understand why a giga coaster is so adamantly wanted in this park. If anything, I personally would love to see some wood. Yeah but how reasonable is it to expect that at a Cedar Fair park in the near future? I'd love an RMC coaster at Six Flags America and I have higher hopes for that than a B&M giga coaster because I know it's way more likely to actually happen. And with the reviews Fury's been getting (and how highly regarded and rare giga coasters are in North America) I think it's absolutely fair to believe a giga coaster is the best option for a new coaster. And with Cedar Fair were more likely looking at GCI than RMC for wood. I don't know about everyone else but if I'm choosing between Fury 2.0 vs another GCI... It's not even a discussion. -

Because thats literally the last thing that crosses the executives' minds when they're planning these types of expansions. They have no goal of "keeping it fair" or "giving the smaller parks a turn." It's only return on investment and they could not care less about another park that "deserves a coaster" before Kings Island.
