^I agree it is pretty ridiculous to say that and move forward with this project, and I understand the ecosystem destruction aspect, but doesn't the park replant everything they cut down with new trees? So as a whole they wouldn't actually have a net loss in trees if I'm not mistaken. It's still a risky move on their part and rather ironic as a whole.

No pictures, but I was at the park for its 42nd opening day yesterday. I wasn't with a bunch of coaster nerds so we didn't ride a whole lot, but sometimes it's just just as fun to spend time with people at parks than it is to ride as much as possible all day. We were in the park from 11 to 5:30 and rode... Volcano 1x (40 minute wait because of a rollback two trains before us) Backlot 1x Intimidator 305 1x Flight of Fear 1x Grizzly 1x Delirium 1x Shenandoah Lumber Co 1x Just some miscellaneous thoughts... The bring a friend tickets worked nicely, as did the dining plan, but speaking of... The employees at the Border Cafe are super nice but holy crap I've never seen someone scoop corn so slowly. It took me 25 minutes to get tacos with 3 people in front of me. I'll never complain about free food but if I had to pay $15 for those or the salad I had for lunch Id be a little disheartened. It's what you come to expect with opening day though, so I'll give them some slack and I give them credit because they were saying they don't get a lunch break which really sucks. Delirium was a fun ride. I prefer the HUSS versions slightly and I'll ride Kennywood's version this summer but it's way better than Shockwave ever was so I'm very happy with this addition. There was one train on about half the coasters which could've benefitted from two, but the longest wait was for Volcano and Shanandoah Lumber Co. (which I really enjoyed, almost as much as Great Adv's flume). Grizzly needed the second train since we waited 25 minutes with one train running with a station wait (it's a massive station). The park looked good overall and the way it turns out I'll be back tomorrow. Other than being desperately understaffed I thought it was a nice way to start the season. -

Unfortunately we're going tomorrow and I just called and it's way past office hours. Anyone else gotten BAF tickets at the park? -

Just wanted to see if anyone had an answer to this. I'm assuming the answer is yes, but I'd hate to show up and find out otherwise. Thanks y'all. Buehler. Buehler. Buehler... It is safe to assume I can show up at the park and buy the bring a friend tickets at the ticket window similar to how SF does it? -
^^Oh I agree completely. I wasn't meaning Kings Dominion's issues as being an excuse for BGW to lag behind, more pointing out that BGW doesn't necessarily need this ride to be 42" to have any claim to be more family friendly than Kings Dominion. Both parks do a pretty mediocre job at this and if this ride ends up being aimed at younger kids and families than I'll be among the first to say I don't understand this ride. If it's marketed as a slightly scaled down Prowler than 46" might fit the ride, but not the park. If it's marketed as trying to outdo Woodstock Express than this ride makes no sense at 46".

Really the only part of this ride that considerably smaller than other GCI coasters is the length. It tops out at 48 mph but almost every GCI gets like 50-53 mph. I think the shorter trains are actually a good sign because that could mean tighter elements which would make the short length less of an issue (the reason why Outlaw Run seems longer than Goliath). As for the height restriction, I'll wait for final renderings to see what they're actually going for. 42" would've been great but if this ride isn't suitable for 42" people (in terms of intensity) than that's not a terrible height restriction. Looking at BGW's competition, Kings Dominion has two 40" rides (Woodstock Express and Avalanche) which are both more towards younger kids. Then you get to Ricochet at 44" and everything else is 48" or above, so I don't know if the park is really suffering with family coasters but 42" or even 44" would've been nice. Things can always change and it's more than a year out from opening at this point.

Oh come on pony up the cash for a membership. It's basically free, it's like the cost of one Happy Meal each month. Lol Also you know you can't resist Holiday in the Park when all the Cedar Fair parks are closed. Lol Oh you know I want to Moving out to Buttcrack, Indiana 60 days after graduation for college so even if I did I'd have no time to get up to Jersey. I'm gonna have to live without the Bull this year which is a shame because it's the closest you can get to crack legally... At least in my mind.

Damn I'm jealous of you guys that made it out to the park today. I was there on El Toro's last operating day back in November, so I guess we were only a few hundred riders apart, lol. I actually don't even have a SF pass this year since I'm doing the whole Kimgs Dominion + Ohio parks thing and I thought it would be fine (I'll be on I-305 this Friday) but man I already miss El Toro. And the park in general sounds like it's doing very well.

Awesome, thanks for reply. Weird it's not on the website (or very difficult to find) because that's actaully a huge benefit considering how expensive FL+ gets mid-summer. -

I'm probably going insane but can anyone confirm whether platinum passholders get a free upgrade to fast lane plus from regular fast lane at the park? I could've sworn I read that in the "100 reasons" page on the site but looking back I don't see it now. I don't know if I'm losing my marbles on this one but now I have to know, lol. -

I'm a first time passholder... To pick up the bring a friend discount tickets on opening weekend you can purchase them at the park, correct? That's how it's done at SF parks, but I haven't had Kings Dominion passes before. For those wondering, March 25-27 Kings Dominion is offering $27 tickets to passholders. -

Certain rides can't run under a certain temperature. They maybe doing test rides until it gets warmer. This happen to me with Millennium Force back in may last year when I visited. He was being facetious. -
If you can recall back to the last update, a pretty sizeable area of land had been cleared back behind Forest Falls. However, what hadn't been mentioned, was that just hours after that glimpse of the park, Frontier Forest was purchased outright from the previous owner. The park is no longer associated with Frontier Parks and is operated independently with an entirely new management team. In 2002, Frontier Parks began to sell and close some of its smaller properties in attempts to reduce its debt. Frontier Forest is the latest and most significant victim of these sales. Although it has not been confirmed by the park or the manufacturer, many sources claim the new owner cancelled the second term of a multi-year contract with Intamin for a prefabricated wooden roller coaster, which would've been the first in North America upon opening in 2004. Work had already begun on the station footer, though Intamin had no involvement in the construction and had no produced any materials for the ride when the new owner took control, allowing for the cancellation of the ride. "The growth patterns of the Frontier Parks group were not sustainable in the long term and had too little of a focus on the most profitable demographic. Our immediate goals include inspecting every aspect of the park's operation to increase profitability as well as reducing operating costs. $20+ million investments are hardly justifiable in this market." --Frontier Forest, 2004 It looks like Albatross may be the largest investment in park history for more than a few years. Notably, for the 2004 season, the Space Adventure theater received some sprucing up with red paint to match Adventure Raceway nearby. Out is the Space film and the last of the space theming, in is a family-oriented "Three Blind Mice" film. Comments appreciated! What would've been the site of potentially a record breaking Intamin project is now just a cleared area with plans that slipped through the corporate cracks What might have been the entrance is now just an afterthought dead-end The last reminders of the "Space Adventure" theme are gone. "Three Blind Mice" now plays in the renamed "3-D Cinema" The bumper boats never opened with the park. No word on if these are gone permanently, but it's no huge loss It seems as though we've seen the end of the Albatrosses and Tempests. Riders take the dive under the bridge.

Skyrush tho I need to get to Hershey. That's all on me lol. I wasn't going to say anything but thank God someone said Grizzly is crap. You spend more time squealing through the first turnaround destroying any remnants left of your eardrum left from just hearing the ride from the station than you do on the rest of the ride. How was that ride supposed to replicate Beast? I haven't ridden it at night but I imagine all that would do is prevent me from leaning into the turns.

It depends on what Busch Gardens gets for their 2017 woodie. In either case it's been decided for more than a year at this point... I guarantee they're not making their decision based on tomorrow's announcement at all.
