I don't think I've ever heard somebody compare Hurler to Intimidator 305 -

No Woodstock Express cult? At all? Woodstock Express is my number two to Skull Mountain. Honest to God it's my favorite wood coaster in the park because it has one ridiculous moment of ejector air in the back. Actually wait that's Skull Mountain too lol. -

And... Never mind. The pattern in the dirt made it look like a hole. It's been laid wth sod. -

It looks like a pretty massive rectangular area has been dug out in the empty space right next to Delirium. They put down sod everywhere except where Shockwaves lift had been. I'm thinking this could be a Slingshot opening in the summer but that's just a guess. -
Favorite attraction never made?

I can only imagine how frightening that would be to the GP. Right because people that aren't obsessed with roller coasters scare more easily on dark rides. -

I've been keeping an eye on the land clearing as well but looking back in this thread the same parcel of land was cleared when Banshee opened. I have no idea what it could be, if anything. -

In this kind of discussion I almost always side with the people that say balance is the best option, but in this case I don't blame those that aren't renewing their passes. Yes it's important to add family rides pretty consistently but the bottom line is that you're not going to see attendance explode like Carowinds' did with Fury by adding small family rides almost every single year. Im not saying the park is expecting huge gains from rides like these but from the sounds of things it seems like the park is getting pretty stale to locals. I made the exact same decision this year by not getting Six Flags America gold passes (and therefore passing up Great Adventure which is a huge loss) and instead going for the 3x more expensive Cedar Fair platinum pass for Kings Dominion, Kings Island and Cedar Point. Family rides keep people at a park and going back, but without big new coasters there's nothing to draw anyone in in the first place and I think we can all agree there isn't a whole lot of substance beyond Renegade and Wild Thing drawing people in. -

They are. Their Twitter account said they'll be releasing details sometime in March about it. -
Well, we are officially booked and I couldn't be more pumped for this. Our final itinerary looks like... Monday, 7/11--Kennywood (1pm-8/9pm), three hour drive to Motel 6 Grove City, Ohio (just SW of Columbus) Tuesday, 7/12--75 minute drive to Kings Island (9:30am-10pm), staying at Microtel Inn, Mason Ohio Wednesday, 7/13--Kings Island (9:30am-lunch), four hour drive to Cedar Point (evening-10pm), staying at Motel 6 Huron/Sandusky Thursday, 7/14--Cedar Point early entry to close (woohoo!) Friday, 7/15--Cedar Point early entry to close (woohoo! again, FL+ definitely an option weather dependent) Saturday, 7/16--Cedar Point early entry to lunch, 7 hour drive back home It was a huge hassle calling over a dozen motels and being put on hold for a seven second conversation, but that would've been a disaster if I hadn't looked into that. I owe you guys one for pointing that out to me I know I'm repeating myself at this point but I couldn't be more excited for this trip. Not only Cedar Point, but two more parks I've never been to that look like two of the better parks in the country from what I've seen. I've got my Kennywood tickets in my drawer and my Platinum pass in my wallet so it's getting real now, lol. I'll continue to ask more park-specific or food-stop specific questions when we get closer to the departure date. Thanks guys!

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I can not figure out for the life of me how a park map can be hard to follow. Especially if you are in the park. If you are in the park, and you look up and see Valravn, then you find Valravn on the map, once you find Valravn you will know where you are on the map. . . Follow the path in front of you, and the one that matches that path on the map, and eventually you will get to where you are wanting to go. I don't get what is so hard or confusing about that. I didn't need you to explain to me how a map works, but thanks for that. I don't personally use the maps other than finding food locations for the dining pass at parks I've been to and know my way around, but if you're a first time visitor or use reading glasses, then it can absolutely be a challenge to figure out the configuration of the pathways based on the map. Most of the map is the coasters blocking off bottlenecks in the midways. It almost looks like Dragster cuts off the Gemini midway, and Frontiertown is kind of a mess with Skyhawk covering half the pathways mid-swing on the map. I appreciate when parks use some artistic freedom to make the major rides stand out and easier to recognize. I also like to keep a copy of a map when I visit a new park. But for functionality, this probably isn't the best way to go. No, it's not horrible, and I'm not really complaining about it at all, but I don't think it's invalid to say that it's a little hard to read the map. -

I agree. Maybe Cedar Fair should stop building so many awesome attractions. I mean, all it does is make the park maps look cluttered. I think it's a legitimate complaint. It is a little hard to follow, and that has absolutely nothing to do with the number of attractions at the park. Not every question or complaint is a stupid one. -
Coasters at Sunset

^Thats been my background before. The problem I have is finding a picture with high enough resolution for a 17" screen. Right now I have a picture of Millennium Force from the train tracks at Cedar Point in the snow. It's pretty nice. -
Because I'm a nerd and need to spend more of my time doing things that are almost completely pointless, I noticed that the SeaFari Theater, the cut-through from El Toro (or whatever else people might be riding in that area which would be nonsense) to the Golden Kingdom otter theater, is no longer listed on the 2016 Great Adventure map. The rendering of the theater is still on the map as I'm sure it's still standing, but I have to wonder if this means anything for the fate of those animal shows. Edit: And... nevermind. It was moved from the list of theaters to the list of attractions in the Golden Kingdom. Carry on.

^In 'Murican talk, that's about $3 million for the HUSS model, excluding foundations. -
I don't think Banshee has as near of the "wow" factor for the GP that Gatekeeper has, nor does it have near the "wow" factor that Valravn has(is going to have.) Agree to disagree. KI received quite the bump in attendance from Banshee ...I heard exactly the opposite. Like, it was actually a disappointment considering the season as a whole. Up 1% over 2013.
-
^Its not like the park is going to being inherently worse than last season, so why would an addition you don't like make you specifically want to stay away from the park? I've never understood this perspective. If you like the park, go visit. Nobody's forcing you to ride the new coaster (or bash it in every single one of your posts...).

I guess if this new wood has an obnoxiously high coefficient of friction you could argue it's like a really old school friction brake, but I think it's more likely that you don't really know what trims look like because that's definitely not it. I didn't even think GCI's have trims to be perfectly honest. -
I think for SFA specifically this isn't a bad idea. Superman rarely ever has more than a few trains wait and the park desperately needs something new in terms of thrill rides. The ride is pretty predictable so I don't think k Motion sickness would be much of an issue. It's also optional, so I don't see any argument for how it defeats the purpose of a coaster. For the other parks though I agree it's stupid. I'd like to try it once and see how it turns out but I could definitely see capacity take a hit.
