Best Coaster Layout
Password121 replied to DarienLaker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Obviously Top Thrill Dragster. I mean it does kind of resemble a giant penis and all. Gross Does anyone have a Valentine Layout that doesn't have to do with anything shown above? I don't even know what you're asking. This entire thread is about "favorite coaster layouts." Do you know what Valentines Day is about in modern American culture? His response was probably the closest to what you're actually asking in all honesty. -
So there's a couple things you can do. 1) Say it's a rumor and don't word it as fact. "I heard a rumor that..." Or "I heard from (source/person/site) that..." 2) Not say anything because you don't know how to construct a proper sentence with basic information. I don't know how else to explain it. I've never had to explain how to write a sentence so it's all new to me.

^^^That's a reputable newspaper that has a history of reporting properly and has inside connections with park. It's understood that their sources are legitimate because they actually are. Anybody in the world could create an account on this site and post whatever the hell they want. It doesn't take a genius to do that, but apparently it does take one to question it. And this too. And this.
-
^He already explained that! It's been stated multiple times now that if someone is going to post a rumor, do just that! Post it as a rumor, not as a fact. We're all making the same argument and I don't know how else to explain it. I'm sorry but I'm starting to think maybe this forum isn't all that different from a comment section. Seriously.

How is this the same? Are you going to boycott the park if it turns out this childrens ride has not been rethemed? Are you really saying that if someone falsely says KK won't be open it would spread across the internet and the park would be empty? I'm willing to bet most people who read coaster forums have a season pass for the park so I don't think the four people who decide they're not going to the park because a ride is closed would affect much of anything considering 95% of people who visit the park have never even visited a theme park forum in their life. You completely missed the point. I explained it as best I can so I don't want to get into a theoretical situation anymore. Let's just move on and say there's a *possibility* that Blackbeard will be returned come the start of the season. It's actually interesting that Bkackbeard wasn't operating for HITP this year, and I bet a lot of families didn't know the ride existed because it's not in a kiddie area. I wonder, assuming a retheme actually does happen, if they're going for a type of change as they are at SFOG with an actually building and theming. Can you provide your source on that? See? What are you supposed to say to that other than you heard about it. I'm not saying that everything everyone says is true, but wouldn't you rather someone post a rumor than not? Yeah, I'd rather someone post a rumor. But just a rumor. When someone comes out and says "this is happening this/next year!" with no source and no credibility, why would I believe that? I don't mean anything by it but there are a lot of twelve year olds on the Internet, and some of them are on enthusiast sites making statements just like that. If someone posts a rumor or idea as fact they're automatically not credible in my mind. Maybe that's my fault and I should believe everyone but I've learned that's never really been a good idea. There are a lot of stupid people out there.

People state rumors or even just their persoanlly ideas/preferences as fact whenever they feel like opening their mouth sometimes. It might be true, it might not be. But we need some sort of verification to separate it from rumor, even if it's not a big deal. "Kingda Ka will not be operating on opening day!" Now, a good number of people on this site (and others after its spread across enthusiast sites) would be hesitant to attend opening day. Is it true? Who knows. I didn't say how I know, so why should anyone believe me? See?

How does someone provide a source for something that has not been formally announced? He probably heard it at an employee event or from an employee. Why don't you just assume what he said is true and if it turns out it's not then who cares and you'll know he's not credible. If we assumed everything people say on this site is true then we are seriously, seriously screwed.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Is something changing with the Fast Lane system at Kings Island? It's been taken off their website entirely and I was wondering about the pricing structure for trip planning. On all the other Cedar Fair websites it's just listed as unavailable until closer to the season starts when pricing is releases, but on their site it's removed completely. -

At first glance I agree that looks ridiculous and unacceptable for a brand new Intamin coaster to be so off-line. But the reality is that even at speeds around 100 mph (which it won't be going because of the brakes) that's at least 100 meters of track. That's like 2 or 3 cm of variation every 30 meters... nobody's going to notice that. A rough set of wheels or poor train maintenace (like on Kingda Ka) would be so much more noticeable than slight variations in the track. Wooden coasters have variances like this after a year or two of operation in high stress points. I'm not saying it's totally fine (it doesn't look good, but looks can be deceiving) but it's not time to flip out and say it'll be rough just yet. -
RMC-ifying Son of Beast

^I would day Colossos and Top Thrill Dragster (and multi-ride deals) led to El Toro (or, Kingda Ka then El Toro). But yeah absolutely it's a damn good thing more Son of Beast's weren't built everywhere. -

If you're budget-conscious and don't plan to take breaks midday at the hotel and want early entry (which you totally should) Breakers Express is the way to go. It's nothing special at all but it has everything you need (like a clean room). It's more expensive than other lower end hotels nearby but the location and early entry make it worth it if you don't have a platinum pass. I can't speak for the crowds but I imagine neither will be dead but probably won't be mid-July type crowds. -
Best Coaster Layout

I'm with ^ on Millennium Force. It's not the tallest, fastest, or most "holy shit!" anymore (but it's still notably close for being 16 years old) but that ride is almost perfect. If I just want to st down for a nice long, fast and smooth ride and just go back to realizing why I love this hobby and why I bothered to travel 800 miles from home and drop almost a grand, I'll ride Milennium Force at night. At the end of the day (literally) riding Millennium Force just puts a huge smile on my face. And that's what it's all about. -

I'm in the minority that still really likes Firehawk. Vortex I IMO was running like crap last year I couldn't agree more. I actually really like Firehawk and it's one of the only coasters that makes me say, "Oh $hit!" Vortex, on the other hand, flat out sucks. It's the roughest coaster in Ohio. I'd take a ride on Mean Streak any day before Vortex. I'm in the minority of Mean Streak Lakers too lol I think you might be one of the only "Mean Streak Lakers." I don't know that I could name any others, come to think of it. -
It's funny because I thought Mantis was absolute trash. I'll admit I rode it in the 90 degree sun right before lunch mid afternoon, but that ride was almost as rough as Apocalypse just in a much larger scale and had the whole endurance test aspect of it. I've ridden Green Lantern way more than Mantis but I've still never had a ride on GL as bad as the one on Mantis. It's weird how different everyone's opinions are. The only one's I can't see the perspective of is saying they're very good rides overall, but nobody's saying that so its all good. Oh wait...

It's a shame this ride was such a miss for the park because it was definitely a good idea in the planning stage, and it looked pretty cool and fit in really nicely on the Frontier Trail. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new type of water ride in the next few years, but then again it sounds like they've had this vision in mind leading up to a massive coaster in 2020 (if you don't know what I'm talking look back about a year in the Cedar Fair development thread), so if this wasn't in the cards since 2011 (which it definitely wasn't) Inwouldnt be surprised either to see only two water rides in the dry park for a while. As for its spot, I hope if they do move whatever that Challenge Park upcharge ride is that it's just temporary. What I imagine is a great possibility is that they could phase out Challenge Park in the next few years (like Valleyfair did) for two possibilities: a Soak City expansion (which I'm sure will happen at some point soon) and/or the station for the next new coaster (which, as I said, is supposedly massive. Nobody knows anything beyond that though, so don't take this as if I'm trying to pretend like I know what's happening). I could also see them using Shoot the Rapids' location for either the station for the next coaster, part of its layout, or a new ride of some sort. Maybe even a new water ride down the line. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Challenge Park super outdated and relatively unpopular? I know that the park is in no way out of space but you do need a considerable amount of space on the ground for a station and queue. Removing the mini golf, go karts and whatever upcharge rides are back there would open up a good chunk of space for the possibilities I mentioned above. I'm also very curious when this decision was made. I'm sure it was after the summer because they would've had some "last riders" ceremony or whatever. It's all very weird to me, but it's eerily similar to CP randomly removing the Ice Rink after the 2014 season by Raptor way before announcing anything about Valravn. Advanced planning is what it's all about. -
I have a really great appreciation for Green Lantern after riding Apocalypse/Iron Wolf way more times than I would like to admit to. Since I surpassed about 5'10" I haven't had any issues with headbanging (or at least after learning how to lean properly/defensively), but the leg pain has gotten more noticeable for me the last couple years. If you can ride it correctly and keep you head out of the restraints it can be a decent ride for a standup. Whether or not you agree with having to ride a coaster a certain way for it to be good is a different story (kinda like Mean Streak in the front like coasterbill rants about on the daily) but it isn't unbearable to me in this way. That said I still rarely ride it (especially if it's over 15 mins), but it's so much better than Apocalypse it's laughable. As for Superman it's kind of the same story. It's definitely easier to enjoy and overall more comfortable, but other than the pretzel there's nothing to write home about and the line is usually God-awful. I prefer it slightly to Batwing but I don't mind Batwing as much as others seem to. Neither are all that special anyways, especially when Superman is in the same park as El Toro.

^ and ^^ That all makes sense. It's interesting how it's almost unintentionally "highlighted" (it's probably just my nerdy side noticing though) in the animation, but I guess you can never be too precise, right? Thanks for the responses. It's all very interesting (at least to me, lol). -

Sorry if this has been discussed before but can somebody explain why the connection between cars 2 and 3 is wider than that between cars 1 and 2? I thought it had something to do with articulating because there's no zero car but I don't know for sure and it's pretty apparent in the animation for Valravn. I also thought it would be nice to lighten the mood a bit after all that, lol.
