  1. i remember going to a pass holder event for Superman. to me it was to satisfy the pass holders because it was of course advertised to open that year. i just remember it not going very high up the tower. i believe they also opened batman for an ert, and i got 50 rides on it without having to get off cause everyone else was at superman. lol Wait did nobody else catch this? You rode Batman 50 times without getting off? lol wtf how did you not spew vomit with your internal organs mashed to pieces?
  2. ^Im actually pretty impressed. Excellent news from Six Flags, especially knowing the crap SFA pulled last year concerning wages.
  3. To be honest it actually seems like SF is pouring a respectable amount of money into Over Georgia. An entirely new waterpark, a massive kiddie area refurb, some new flats and a coaster refurb that's probably more expensive than most realize. The difference is its just not the obnoxious amount of money going into the other two nearby parks. It's actually interesting seeing as how two of the fastest growing regional parks in the country are in the same region, which is unfortunate for SFOG.
  4. The only reason I have any plans of going to Dorney this year is because I got a platinum pass for Kings Dominion, Cedar Point and Kings Island. With the three superior parks all within a couple hours drive there's no way I'd go out of my way to Dorney but since it's free and I have the dining plan I pretty much have to go. I'm always down to ride a good invert and even if the other coasters range from mediocre to absolute crap I dont really care, any free visit to a park is a good visit. I'm also kinda interested in riding Demon Drop. I'll admit I'm too young to have gotten to a first gen free fall before they were all removed so that's icing on the cake. Oh and Thunder Creek Mountain too.
  5. ^^I wasn't referring to you about calling it not a coaster. I'm really having a hard time understanding where you're coming from with the vertical twist thing though. I'm not an engineer (I'm an engineering student, actually) but the train is still descending 90 degrees. The added track length from the twist maybe adds like 0.2 seconds to the total time of descending. If something reduces momentum it slows the train, in this case, so I disagree. Let's move on though because it's a meaningless discussion. No hard feelings.
  6. I'm having a hard time finding the full list of passholder discount ticket dates as well as whether or not Cedar Point still offers after 4pm tickets for non-resort guests. Anyone having better luck?
  7. I'm gonna be honest, you guys are really going way over my head saying Kingda Ka isn't a coaster or that you need a lift hill to count a drop. I'm not one to say that "anything that wants to be a coaster, is!" but seriously? Side note--the twist on Dragster/Ka doesn't slow the train. Those would be the brakes. It's just a cool visual effect, basically.
  8. Nice pictures. I really miss El Toro--haven't been able to and won't get to ride my baby this year. It's the one thing that is just so special about Great Adventure. I know it gets more than its share of attention but even after visiting Cedar Point and marathoning I-305 I've yet to find anything that tops it.
  9. Holy crap they're closing Joker Chaos super dooper Larson looper
  10. ^I'm planning on waiting until the moment is less fragile Excellent TR, by the way! I'd love to get to Carowinds this year but unfortunately I have no excuse to get down there.
  11. Less than four weeks out now! Kennywood first, 1.5 days at Kings Island, and a while at Cedar Point. Getting pumped. lol
  12. ^Horizontal distance travelled is very different than track length.
  13. You guys are making super excited to ride Hydra to see what all this is about. I can appreciate an intensely mediocre coaster as much as anyone.
  14. Agreed. I hope more parks give RMC the freedom, space and budget to make longer custom wood coasters. Wildfire looks like the "best of" compilation of what RMC can do.
  15. Yeah even though the "clue" they gave technically doesn't disqualify Scream Machine I don't see that being the ride. When SF has closed wood coasters (for conversions or demolition) they've given at least some sort of notice or acknowledgment, if not a celebration (Rolling Thunder being the least amount of time but they did announce its closure beforehand). Six Flags makes some weird decisions sometimes but they aren't going to hurt randomly close a major coaster like this permanently without letting people know beforehand. And RMC's have always closed in July or August after NTaG. Just my $.02
  16. RMC has stated in an interview (I have no idea specifically which one but it's legit lol) that they are no longer doing topper track refurbs because they are too busy with larger projects. That could potentially change in the future as they increase project capacity but I'd be inclined to believe they'd just take on more large projects (custom/iron horse/t rex) than retracks.
  17. I don't care what she looks like. Is she fun the ride? That's a question of taste RMCs are beautiful. No. Matter. What. I don't think you got it and your age isn't displayed so to be careful I'll just leave it as "agreed!" I'm 24 not your little 12 year old boy on the forums I'm a coaster enthusiastic and YES I understand it so don't underestimate me Better safe than sorry. My mistake.
  18. Yeah even if the ride came to a complete stop like a dive machine after the launch before the drop it would hit well above 51 mph. I wouldn't put any stock in that.
  19. And to think this ride had a chance of never being built. That looks ridiculous.
  20. ^Umm... how is preferring Kings Dominion to Kings Island "trolling"? As a general rule I follow, if it's really had to tell if someone's trolling, they're probably not. It's just an unpopular or stupid (or in this case, not in your exact line of thinking) opinion.
  21. ^By "twist" I assumed you meant turnaround. I read the post but it wasn't clear, so my apologies... no need to be sassy. But yeah after the twister section I don't think they ever really intended for that to be notable in terms of airtime. Maybe I'm biased but I've always been content with the RT crossover being the last "holy sh!t" of airtime.
  22. I'll add that Boldikus convinced me to make a pit stop at Kennywood for our Cedar Point/Kings Island trip next month and I'm pumped for Phantom's Revenge and the park itself. Lots of interesting, unique things to do that you don't see at corporate/"big box" parks. And yeah this TR is really awesome--gone through it three times now and it makes an hour go by very quickly.
  23. ^Im just trying to get this through my mind without my brain vomiting on me... the last three airtime hills on El Toro include the pullout of the turnaround, the *floater* airtime hill (intended to be different than the ejector hills), and the RT crossover. Are you saying that the RT hill is tame/"floater"? Interesting opinion, for sure. Physics disagrees.
  24. I'll have to visit first before I can really give unbiased input on this but I've heard that said here and there about Kings Island "overtaking" Cedar Point and it just makes no sense to me. Cedar Point is still building much faster than Kings Island (yeah they got Banshee--how are they improving faster than Cedar Point when they've essentially done three new B&Ms since Diamondback?). Kings Island has tons of space but get this: so does Cedar Point. And Cedar Point will always be a good investment for the chain.
  25. I thought Six Flags Great America had that record already? And yeah, Great America and Kings Dominion off the top of my head. Exactly
