  1. Here are two shots from Cedar Point you've definitely never seen. Gemini midway last night Maverick last night
  2. ^I didn't get a close look but that could be. Side note (again lol): best day ever with these lines Millenniums a two train wait
  3. Luckily we decided to wait until at least 11 to be sure and didn't buy it. Same deal at Kings Island too--walk ons at Banshee all day. Lunch break inside Chickies and Petes now.
  4. ^Raptor was stuck near the bottom of the lift for at least an hour so they did a few tests with dummies before reopening. Side note--it's crazy empty today. 20 minutes for Dragster in the front row, 5 everywhere else.
  5. Why? What did Bill do to you? His tips saved my life on Mean Streak today.
  6. Well it was their first ever coaster, so... Oh I know. It's just amazing how much better they got just two years later for Batman which for me is one of the top five B&M's I've ridden. The first try doesn't have to be the worst.
  7. I've been on two B&M stand ups--Green Lantern and Apocalypse. Apocalypse is a mess of awful head banging and a slow ride with nothing exciting. I haven't dealt with much head banging on Green Lantern but only in the last two years I've had the previously mentioned leg pain. It feel like the entire force of the ride is on your calves and it's really, really uncomfortable and it isn't relieved by lifting your legs up. It's weird. That said, Green Lantern is better than Apocalypse but unless I have multiple days at the park I'm skipping it. Apocalypse might be the worst B&M ever.
  8. Other than Millennium Force, are there any must-do night rides? Maverick? We've got three nights to do it.
  9. I just rode the back and my shoulders wet so it's all good.
  10. Good back. Phantom at night is something to behold. I totally would but have a three hour trip to the motel before Kings Island tomorrow morning. Gives me a reason to go back sometime!
  11. Just left the park. I'll post everything next week but holy crap this park is awesome. Almost everything about it.
  12. ^I think they're trying to be clever and talk about an actual Valravn, then demonstrating how the coaster named Valravn is similar in speed/inversions.
  13. I imagine if they intend to interact with the water they will go around the pond (lake?) instead of across it in the interest of cost.
  14. Don't know that I can promise any more updates in the near future. With college in session next month my priorities are elsewhere. Thanks for checking out the project.
  15. Maybe it's just me but an enclosed drop tower sounds like a really stupid idea.
  16. Don't worry about reports. Just go and have fun, Kennywood is a great park! Oh I'm totally kidding about that. I'll put one together for sure but it won't be anything I'm concerned about during or after the trip. Almost there!
  17. Thanks guys! We'll prioritize Black Widow, Bayern Curve and Kangaroo and if we have time try for Whip, Swingshot and the train. We're for sure doing all the dark rides and coasters and maybe the flume if we feel like it.
  18. ^^Thanks! Good to know. ^Good call on that because I had completely forgotten about that ride. Oh and I can only hope my report is half as awesome as yours, it's what made me want to this trip so badly in the first place.
  19. So, heading out in a few days and figured I'd ask here for some details. We'll be at the park Monday from a little after 12 to around 8. Which flats are seriously worth waiting more than a few cycles for? Depending on the crowds we may have to economize with several rides having been suggested to ride. For those that don't really have a huge sense of nostalgia and just focusing on ride experience... for example is Auto Race really any different than a standard Antique car ride? Or are Turtle or Kangaroo really thrilling to just... old and unique? If the latter I'd rather grab another ride on Phantoms Revenge so an unbiased opinion here would be appreciated.
  20. It's been a confirmed in-house project since the park opened for the season. Seriously.... can this rumor die already? The hints that RMC themselves dropped was clear as day pointing at Hurler. I have not seen RMC give any hints? Source? Or are you talking about the hints that Irvine Ondrey Engineering posted on fb about getting the Cedar Fair contract? Because you do know that IOE works with GCI as well as RMC, correct? Either way they said it's a large project, and all signs point to Hurler. So no, it's not entirely in-house. What leads me to think it's RMC is them saying they're booked for 2017 along with GCI already working with BGW down south. They could be giving mean streak the iron horse treatment for all we know man.. So we all don't know for sure. Ironically, that's the one project they admitted is not the case. So we do know for sure.
  21. Well, I'm home and I've had some time to limit my frustration with the fuzz having no chill on the beltway today. Sorry, no pictures, but we started the day in the waterpark from 11 to around 1. Not too heavy crowds, no complaints there. The new splash pad is really popular and overall the waterpark seems to be doing well and looks nice. No shortage of tubes anywhere. As for the dry side... well, we rode Superman three times. The first time was a five train wait and it took 75 minutes. Yes, you read that correctly. I'm glad they're running one train because nobody wants to sit in the 90 degree beating sun for 15+ minutes. As for the VR, excellent (this time around)! As noted, they scrap the headsets from 2 to 5 so we came back just before 5 and made it three train away when they started VR again. Operations were mediocre/bad without VR (3 minute dispatches), then suddenly 10 minute minimum with VR. Second ride ended up waiting around 40 minutes and the VR never moved with the train. The screen was completely stuck. So halfway up the lift I *carefully* held the headset on my forehead and held it with one hand the entire ride. Ugh. We told the attendant and she mumbled something about using flash pass, so we went to the FP entrance and were allowed to skip the line without scanning anything or being asked anything. We were allowed to do this, but it's a little odd nobody even asked why we didn't have a flash pass. Third ride, it was all good until the turn after the first drop. The headset overheated and went black with the error message. Same result as the second ride. At this point the three of us had mixed success with the headsets (none of us 3/3) so we called it quits. My rating on VR? When it works perfectly as it was drawn up (see ride 1) excluding the laughable operations, it was fantastic. It gave the feeling of being on a top coaster for the first time all over again, even though I've ridden Ride of Steel dozens of times. I felt like a (younger) kid again that just realized coasters are amazing and I want to ride more of them. In this setting, 9/10 for mediocre graphics only. With rides 2 and 3, I hope it's temporary. As in end it this weekend forever. A massive waste of efforts. Oh, and a baby bird had fallen from it's nest 20 feet up in Superman's station and was dying on the loading platform but nobody noticed, so my environmentally conscious friend notified an employee who notified a lead about 30 minutes later who was about to sweep it up and throw it in the trash can. My friend was having none of that and she ended up taking it to a wildlife rescue shelter on the way home.
  22. I'm at the park now and holy crap Superman's operations with VR are absolutely atrocious. I've been in line 10 minutes and they've yet to dispatch the train. There is a sign that the ride will operate from 2-5 without VR so maybe that's a good sign they realize it sucks. Other than that it's been a terrible luck day. I got a ticket for going 74 on I-95 (with the flow of traffic, mind you). Edit: 19 minutes and counting since the last dispatch Edit 2: 21 minutes it is Edit 3: I'll post more about it later but VR definitely makes Superman much less stale after riding it dozens of times. It was really fun.
  23. The comments on the post ask about Cedar Point and the poster says she can't say which park, but it is not Cedar Point.
