I've never been inside the transfer shed for Superman but I'd imagine that it is set up like all other B&M coasters. I do know that there is no S.A.M. inside of the transfer shed, and mechanics unfold the seats manually once insise the shed.

I was so young back then... I would do anything to go back to these days. I love how they put both of my pictures beside eachother. Seddy at the GASM! -
What's the worst station you've been in

^I used to love turning them on at night. GASM was so beautiful with those lights twinkling. And I agree about many of them burning out. Maintenance got lazy when it came to replacing those bulbs. -

Speaking of ride operators... I was going through some ole boxes and found this... Wow! I forgot I had it. Im about to go down memory lane real quick. 2005 Employee Memory Book for SFOG, White Water and American Adventures -
The wheels that you are talking about are only used for the S.A.M. (swinging arm mechanism) that folds the train up into the flying position at the time of dispatch. Thats the I-Beam that you are speaking of. Speaking of flyers... at times, the S.A.M. can sometimes be lowered too low preventing a train from re-entering the station to be unloaded. An operator at Superman Ultimate Flight at SFOG (or any flyer with a dual loading platform) can unload a train using the other platform before calling maintenance to reset the SAM but (and dont quote me on this because I havent worked at any of the other SMUF clones) flyers with a single platform would more than likely have a Signal 2 (SFOG's term for a train loaded with guests during a breakdown).

The E-Stop button has always fascinated me... especially during my days as a Thunder River operator. Just knowing that a simple push of a button would cause so.much panic simply amazed me. And its red and pretty!!

TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!!! -
^So that answers the big question. Its not just some random act of Vekoma... I really dont understand the point in an elevated lift motor. Like who wants to call up a crane if the lift fails to start one day?

I absolutely love this thread!! Acrophobia's operators are by far the best at SFOG, believe it or not, before the park opens for the season one of the jobs given to the Foreman (or Lead) is to come up with 10 songs to sing to the guests before the drop. During my time at GASM that 'Lose Control' song by Missy Elliot was pretty hot. So every once in a while I would bust out with a verse or 2 over the mic and my crew and I would do some dance moves. We also used to have 'screaming contests' where we would ask the guests in line to scream as loud as they could on the count of 3. Sometimes I would call over to Ninja and the guests in our line would battle against the guests in Ninja's line for the loudest scream. I worked at Splash Waterfalls for a little bit in 2006 and would always joke with the guestd by saying stuff like 'you will not get wet, the water is just an optical illusion'. That season that allowed us to bring our cell phones in the park and I would say stuff like 'Welcome to club Splash!' and play MP3's over the mic from my phone. One of my good friends (still to this day) was the Assistant Foreman at Ninja and got wrote up for playing 'Feeling on your booty' By R. Kelly over the mic. I'll never forget that. Ugh... I wish I was a teen again. I miss those days at SFOG. -
^Oooohhhh... I dont recall any steam coming from the pond in the summer months during my time at GASM. And its a man-made pond as well so theres that. But since the ride was moved from Jersey im sure it wasn't SFOG's idea to put the motor up there. Speaking of my time at GASM... I remember one morning during the chilly months (mid October I believe), the mechanics were testing the Ninja and it valleyed in that final turn before the brake run. That was the first time I.saw them use the winch system (which I didnt even know Ninja had). (End CoasterNerd Rant)

^I thought about both of those reasons as well. I dont think the water would have been an issue if the motor was at the base of the lift because the ride is elevated well above the water level. It may have been DinosaurBeach's idea because it is a custom coaster with no clones (another shock for Vekoma IMO)
-
^That would make sense IF the Ninja wasnt entirelly built.over water... and there is plenty of room beneath the lift. They could have even put it beside the lift. GASM's lift motor is accessable via the transfer shed as well as directly underneath the lift.

You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....
Seddy replied to PCW_Nut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You might be a coaster nerd if your keys have been attached to one of these since it was given to you while you worked at Six Flags. #Guilty -
If something were to happen to the Ninja's (SFOG) lift motor, the ride would be down for an extended amount of time since the motor is located at the top of the lift. The Ninja is the only coaster in the park with the motor at the top instead of the base of the lift. Really Vekoma? What were you thinking?
-
I would also swap out the trains at the Dahlonega Mine Train. Those manually applied lap bars are beyond uncomfortable and the hard plastic seats make a very uncomfortable ride, especially during the turns and the final tunnel. Some soft seats (GASM or Georgia Cyclone as examples) would definitely make the ride more enjoyable.

Sounds good to me. I noticed in NL1 that the control panel was fixed in the game (unload side of the station near the front). Will this be changeable in NL2? I also like how NL allows you to use feedmotors that actually work, unlike the simple custom scenery that I currently use in RCT3. I cant wait for NL2 to be released so I can give it a try.
