  1. Tour of a maintenance shop, coaster walkback(s), morning and night ERT, Q&A, general event stuff like that. I would love to be able to walk up a lift hill, but how realistic is that? Is it even a possibility? You probably need safety harnesses so probably not a possibility but we can dream can't we Most coasters don't need any special harnesses since they need to be able to evacuate safely without harnesses for each person.
  2. Or at least not have to make a 180 degree turn before the station.
  3. If you're going to go as far as to call yourself a fanboy, it can be somewhat nice working at a park. It's awesome when people are generally enthusiastic about what they're doing and happy to be at the park 60 hours a week, but remember, you're probably not going to get hired just because you like coasters. And you aren't being hired to provide a steady stream of knowledge to everyone within earshot about each and every park and coaster you know some piece of information about.
  4. What about a B&M launch coaster? I'm sure B&M could build a launch coaster with just as good of a capacity as Leviathan or Behemoth. I guess we'll find out when Thunderbird opens.
  5. I think I can see seat belts in those pictures. I'm not sure if they've said either way.
  6. Thanks to you guys and gals our group had one of the best responses for the surveys. Sadly, some others are in need of a little help. This groups project is for a gaming chair that floats in the air using magnets. Opinions on the physics aside, they'd like it if some people can take their survey. It's at http://engineering.chaseh.net/game-chair-survey/. Thanks! (Sorry if this is a little spammy... I hopefully won't have to do this again.)
  7. Exactly. To me it seems like the Op either didn't know or misunderstood exactly what the policy was for disabled guests, and should have contacted a supervisor. And my understanding of the ADA is that she can't be denied access to the station (really in regards to wheelchairs and the like) however if the park policy or manufacturer says it is unsafe for someone with her disability to ride, then they have no obligation to let her ride.
  8. I'm curious why the track is in Utah, since it (or at least some) is being made by RMC up in Idaho.
  9. We have to complain about something. We can't be happy. We complain it's force less, but complain the forceful rides are either too rough or too forceful. Skyrush, I305, et al.
  10. Thanks to everyone who took the survey. It's great to get different people's point of view. Yeah, no seat belts would be great. I ran one ride over the summer without seatbelts (a small family ride) and it was quite nice to quickly check restraints. But, since that seems either a thing of the past or a long way off (not sure which to be honest), I guess the best we can do is find something better. Something that guests can open and close quickly and operators need to do less to check.
  11. Those look awesome! Especially the Disk'o.
  12. For my high school engineering class, our final year is spent working on (re)designing some product. Our group is working on improving seatbelts for rides. Currently we need to conduct market research, so we made a little survey. It would be awesome if you could take a few minutes to fill it out. (It's taken people on average about 3 minutes...) The survey is at: http://engineering.chaseh.net/survey/ And It'd be great if you would share this too. Thanks!
  13. Detached from the rest of the train, the lift, or something else? If it disconnected from the train how would it have made it very far at all? The cars are trailored so no matter where it broke you'd end up with one too few bogies to make it back.
  14. I feel like I remember reading somewhere earlier in this thread that it was under the CDIR and Intamin not Otis would service it. I'm not sure where exactly I read that.
  15. Chiming in from a small independent park, GoPros are okay with the chest strap, head strap, or GoPro branded wrist strap. Anything else is a no. (And God help you if we see a selfie stick come out on a ride...)
  16. Considering Magnum got a new control system, does that quirk still exist?
  17. Could be that the people with all the money are looking for something other than what Intamin is offering. Could be that they haven't been the "lowest bidder" during the design phase and other manufacturers would do it cheaper. Could be Intamin is going through some major restructuring that's resulted in less energy being put into their products. Could be parks are less confident in their safety record. Could be that parks are worried about the maintenance costs compared to other manufacturers/rides. Could be that many parks aren't currently looking for a big, expensive, risky, headlining attraction. Holiday World, SFNE, SFMN, and Carowinds being the exception, it seems like many US parks are using 2015 to add more to the parks quality then some bigger coaster, which seems to be Intamin's forte. Intamin doesn't (to my knowledge) offer an equivalent product to RMC's I-Box, and B&M just began building launches and has the only smooth wing rider trains, things that Holiday World wanted. And most of the other reasons above might explain Carowinds' decision. If I were a park owner, I would love to work with Intamin. I really admire their willingness to push ride technology to its limits. But I don't have a park, nor millions of dollars so I have to stick with trying to convince my boss that they should look at what Intamin has to offer.
  18. Summer jobs at theme parks are awesome. They can also be brutal in every way imaginable. And surprisingly not too different from working at a summer camp, especially if you live on site. (I've not stayed in CP's housing, but I have a lot of experience (working) at summer camps). Both will involve long hours, all sorts of weather, people being idiots, and probably drama between coworkers. From what I've read, housing and food will also be eerily similar between camps and parks. Oh, and it may very well be the best summer ever, with amazing friends, work experience (which always looks good to potential employers, having working in a customer service position), and you can pretty much guarantee unlimited access to a theme park all summer long.
  19. Paint it yellowish green like all the dead grass around most fair grounds after a few days in operation.
  20. In case you haven't seen it, RMC has been answering some questions on Facebook for a little bit.
  21. Why does this website do this to people's posts. I'd actually like to know what was meant to be said. I don't find it funny. I find it immature. I have a sense of humor for things that are actually funny. But fluffy fluffy bunnies and goo are the same things as potty humor. You grow out of that in junior high... Or you should have.... It's a phrase meaning a (generally small) plastic or metallic storage container usually associated with middle school or high school hallways. And you usually don't want to find goo in one while at a park. I look at it as a challenge to be more descriptive when writing.
