  1. That's pretty much the point of Topper Track. Lower cost and lower maintenance. And much smoother.
  2. ^Because the element would supposedly have to be rather enormous to limits the forces but on riders or be higher off the ground.
  3. Because it takes more staff, which can be hard to find and more importantly expensive.
  4. Didn't they pretty much say what was going there? Gwazi is staying there SBNO for the foreseeable future due to budgetary constraints.
  5. I rode GateKeeper, and it was one of the least intense roller coasters I ever went on. Can I say something crazy? My mom says Gatekeeper is the best coaster she has been on. What about the others? And we've looped back to B&M making awesome coasters, even if they're disappointing to enthusiasts.
  6. I wasn't being sarcastic (unusual for me...). That sounds fun. I loathe waiting for other operators and just checking harnesses and harness straps is easy and fast.
  7. Shoulder harnesses with no seat belts and only two people checking the train? That sounds like a lot of fun.
  8. But how many parks do do anything to compensate for it? Generally not a lot, other than posting what's closed before you enter the park.
  9. Considering X2 trains are basically giant sails, and anything 400' tall (Superman, Luthor) is going to have issues with high wind.
  10. You remove sections of steel track... and replace them with new steel track sections? How does that change anything then? And isn't the issue with most of the Venom's the trains, not the track itself?
  11. How does one retrack a steel coaster?
  12. Do you guys mean Wicked Cyclone or Twisted Colossus? Edit: Now I see what you're all talking about when I looked at the pictures. Didn't have much context when tapatalk didn't show pictures.
  13. B&M is generally more reliable when building "basic" steel looping coasters. We have no idea how well this is going to work out yet. And most of the reliability comes from how long Intrasys has been building launches.
  14. That can apply to almost any ride in general!
  15. Interesting. So SpinCycles is very different then. When Spin has errors it turns out controls off so we can't raise/lower the platform, open entrance/exit gates, start cycle. We have to push a "Controls On" button that turns out controls back on. I was thinking it was something like that.
  16. Does anyone know what the purpose of the HMI button is? I've seen it on Gatekeeper's and SpinCycle has something similar. But GIBs don't have one.
  17. Depending on what happens that stops the cycle in the first place, they might not actually have the option. If the catch cars really are what cause's downtime, it's fully possible they can't move the train. If there are issues with the catch car, the only way to get the train back to the station is to either fix it (usually requiring a man lift, since you can't reach the track from the evac platform) or disassemble the train to take it back to the station. These things aren't like other rides. It takes a lot to get it running and keep it running. And understanding the error codes that it spits out isn't easy. It's costly and time consuming to go "blind squirrel*" to find the problem. *Phrase curtesy of a favorite teacher. Means guessing till you find it.
  18. I wouldn't either. Considering we continually are improving our fiber and POSs, even with major investments like SpinCycle.
  19. Probably because it's a very expensive race.
  20. It is. It had about 2 weeks where we had issues with sensors, but not actual mechanical problems. To the best of my knowledge, Aftershock was open at least for some time every day except when it was too cold to run.
  21. With proper staffing (preferably 5) the winged seats don't cause issues. Loose items are probably the slowest part of the ride. Ironically, up at Silverwood, the catch cars have been the least of our problems.
  22. Agreed--this is one of the weirdest coaster elements I've ever seen. Thirded. Some part of me is as excited about this section as any other in the entire ride. Fantastic report! Fourthed. As mesmerizingly surreal and awesome as this element will be, can you imagine if RMC built this kind of prelift element right after a first drop, similar to the Ocean View Rocket? That sounds painful...
  23. doesn't matter. She's the equivalent of a like button on Facebook. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65644
