  1. "You're just some high schooler/college student, what do you know" "You're like 16, you can't tell me what to do" "Kids, you don't have to listen to him/her." Just because guests are older than some staff members doesn't mean you can ignore things they say. If they're there the park obviously trusts them to do their job correctly. "I paid $x[/] of my hard earned money. I should be able to do whatever I want!" "I pay your salary" "We came all the way here from Canada!" "I bought a Gold Season Pass, I should ___" That doesn't mean you don't have to follow the same rules as everyone else who also paid the same amount to come to the park, and also must follow those pesky safety policies. "What are you going to do about it?" I will gladly call security down (and temporarily stop operation if I have to) while we wait. I've done it before, and sadly, I'll probably have to do it again.
  2. RMC was primarily a construction company that almost exclusively built and maintained/refurbished coasters before they began building their own. Hence, Rocky Mountain Construction.
  3. Compared to an ARM/Larson tower which reaches 47mph or Intamin's Giant Drop at almost 80pmh (according to their site).
  4. Isn't it always going to fall roughly the same acceleration (9.8 m/sec^2 or 32 ft/sec^2)? At least until it hits the brakes? Edit: fixed m/sec to m/sec^2.
  5. That's just twisted. I agree about the ups and downs. She seems head of heals for him. Maybe she'll go skydiving on the honeymoon. Maybe society will come around to it. He'll have to show some restraint. At least they know how to operate well together. And if you've ever operated a Chance Skydiver: I'm sure the strange noises will be nothing new...
  6. It's an Eli Bridge Ferris Wheel. They seem a little messed up even when they're standing normally.
  7. Out of curiosity, what would the difference be then? I was taught they were the same.
  8. The screen recording didn't really turn out well. It's got no audio apparently. And even the POV section is too choppy to be of value. Sorry. I liked the little bit with Fred Grubb talking. And they show them testing their cars on Tremors. It makes me happy to think that our coasters are slightly important.
  9. Not really, but it exists and is on an unused machine, so it works.
  10. Quicktime can screen record. I'll do that if you'd like.
  11. It does really seem like theres a lack of activity from staff from the few accounts we've heard.
  12. Because they got there first and knew what to do before EMS arrived? Just because they are a manager doesn't mean that they can't assist the person if needed. Although an employee running to the bathroom is a very bad thing.
  13. Maybe Intamin just wanted some new concepts for rides? For which we are more than happy to brainstorm for.
  14. Aquatrax standing coaster with a vertical drop. And flame throwers of course.
  15. I wonder if they have any patents for their designs...
  16. There isn't enough certainty that the prosthetics will stay attached with the forces put on them by the users body and the restraint system. And the legs are a common place to hold a person with. Pretty much anything with a lap bar or seatbelt would be questionable, as well as some other rides with OTSRs that also rely on your legs to support you.
  17. It's on Wikipedia, so it must be true. I never knew that.
  18. Well, one side is abandoned, so wouldn't there only be one side running backwards and one side closed, like how Colossus operated in Fright Fest 2013? That's how it's been in recent seasons. I'm assuming they will be running both B&M trains on one side and nothing on the other. I'm guessing it would require quite a bit of work to get the other side open at this point because it looks like it hasn't been touched (read: inspected or maintaned) for a long time, the chain isn't even lubricated anymore it's all rusted. B&M has trains for wooden coasters like colossus?
  19. While the new map is cleaner, I personally think it's less useful. The cartoonish maps seem (to me) to be harder to see actually how far away things are. The proportions are off, and I personally find it annoying.
  20. I would consider a roller coaster as a ride that a car or series of cars uses it's own potential energy (height from a lift hill) or kinetic energy (such as from a launch) to propel itself through its course without the continued use of a powered mechanical system (hydraulic, electric, or otherwise). Shuttles do count as coasters. IMO powered "coasters" while I will refer to them as powered coasters as a type of ride, are not true coasters (as they don't coast). As far was water coasters, if the gravity acting on the car/train is what is propelling the vehicle through the course, then I'd consider it a coaster. If a current in the water is what primarily propels the vehicle, then no, not a coaster. As far as the Disko, if it has a motor that pulls it through the course completely, then I'd put it in the "powered coaster" category. If it's "towed" to the top of the spikes on either side, and gravity pulls it through the course, then I'd say it's a coaster.
  21. PTC is pretty easy to argue. If you've ridden more than a couple wooden coasters, you've probably encountered a PTC product. Either in the trains, or the brake fin system, or even the Queue gates.
  22. I'd love to say RMC for wood, but I agree with the person who said they haven't been around long enough to be considered the most successful.
