  1. I believe Valleyfair is slightly behind Worlds of Fun and CA's Great America in revenue, but not by that much. Valleyfair is generally considered the second smallest park in the Cedar Fair chain (not including Gilroy Gardens), and I'm honestly a bit surprised by that. Minneapolis-St. Paul is a relatively large metro area, so for it's largest park to be the size that it is strange, but then again, except for a few additions, Cedar Fair hasn't really invested in anything major at VF .
  2. Saw this on Great Adventure's Twitter page. What could it mean?
  3. ^^Even though Northern Lights (Disk'O) technically isn't a coaster, it has basically fulfilled Valleyfair's need for a new family coaster, so our next coaster wil probably be something thrilling. Yeah, it's not going to be a Gigacoaster or something insanely expensive, but I think that a Patriot-sized invert or a Hydra-sized floorless coaster isn't unreasonable, considering that Cedar Fair listed VF as a park with potential for large growth.
  4. ^^Gee, Cedar Point's B&Ms have had such bad luck lately. I guess everyone else is right: Intamin's cables are getting their revenge .
  5. Wild Thing B&M Gigacoaster
  6. I rode a Zipper twice recently at my local county fair. These things are insane! You just keep getting thrown in and out of your seat mercilessly, and I love it. While they have no legroom whatsoever, the intensity definitely makes up for it. I wish more amusement parks had these as permanent attractions.
  7. Last night, I had a dream that I was riding on an imaginary GCI woodie. It had no name, and it was in the middle of nowhere. The lift hill took place above ground, but the rest of the ride was underground. The strangest part about it was that it had a seemingly endless train. I was the only one on it, so that made it creepy. But boy, the ride itself was fun. If it was a real life coaster, it would probably be my new favorite coaster. It's not the strangest coaster dream ever, but still interesting to say the least.
  8. I was just thinking: What do the rest of you think about Ripcord? Do you think it should be removed to make way for something new. Personally, I hope it stays put because it's my second favorite non-coaster ride at VF behind Xtreme Swing. I usually do it once a year since I get a discount with my season pass. Ripcord doesn't really fit in being next to Route 76, but then again, neither does Steel Venom. If they did remove it, I could see them possibly putting in a Huss Giant Frisbee there, but then again, they could easily put one of those in the Amphitheater's spot. Thoughts?
  9. I think it depends on who you are. There are people like me who can handle roughness up to a certain point, and then there are those who will bash a coaster for even the slightest bits of roughness. I consider a coaster to be truly rough if it gives me a headache that lasts longer than a few minutes after I get off the ride. Sometimes, I think it may be that some of us are spoiled with smooth coasters like B&Ms and Intamins to the point that anything from Arrow or Vekoma will become unbearable, but that's just me.
  10. Okay, I guess I did blow it out of proportion a bit. I just don't check their website often, and if they do switch the webcam often, then Mean Streak is probably staying as is. On another note, I think I'd be just as happy to see Mantis be converted to a floorless coaster because that would be another way to improve a reportedly bad ride. If that happens to Mantis, then I guess that might be coaster that gets renamed to King James.
  11. If that is so, then maybe I overreacted. Sorry. Although, it would still be great if it happened. Also, I think that Mean Streak is a good candidate to get renamed King James because it would bring the ride more popularity regardless of what happens to it.
  12. If they have started showing Mean Streak of all rides on their webcam, then I'm convinced that they are RMCing it. It would be a great way for CP to turn a piece of garbage into a masterpiece. Assuming that this happens, I hope that they are able to change the layout a bit to be more creative because based on the POV, Mean Streak looks like a mostly boring ride with very few airtime opportunities. If it happens, it would finally signal the beginning of Cedar Fair's adventure into the world of RMC. I'm making my first ever trip to CP next year, so this would be perfect timing. I could be wrong, but if does happen, I'll be very happy.
  13. This coaster itself looks like it will be a fun ride, but I found the theming creepy. I guess there's nothing wrong with that. I think it's a great fit for Hersheypark, as I'm not aware of any other dark rides/indoor coasters there, so it will certainly be an interesting experience for park-goers.
  14. Granted, they are happy with any kind of ride being neutered. I wish summer would last longer.
  15. ...the park had closed due to the rides being deemed unsafe. Later on, VF15 purchased the park, sold off all of Mt. Olympus' old rides, and attempted to built a duplicate of Valleyfair there, but he was stopped by...
  16. ...you perk up whenever you hear the term 'roller coaster' used in any context.
  17. According to a tweet from Dave Frazier, demolition of some sort will begin in September. It sounds like it might hint at some current waterpark attractions getting removed to make way for the new ones since the waterpark will be closed in September (except for Labor Day).
  18. Near the old dining patio and volleyball courts.
  19. When I rode Renegade today, I noticed a loud screeching noise on the ride, particularly closer to the end. It didn't take away from the ride experience, but it was loud. Anyone have any idea might be causing it? Whatever it is, I hope it's nothing serious. Also, here's a picture of the red marking near the waterpark I've been hearing about...
  20. Just got off Steel Venom... The holding brake lives!!
  21. Wild Thing and High Roller at Valleyfair have relatively strong trim brakes that take away a good amount of airtime potential on those rides. Also, Raging Bull, while being one of my favorite rides, could be improved if they turned off the trim on the first airtime hill and didn't bite so hard on the MCBR.
  22. Sorry about the double post, but according to Valleyfairzone, Cedar Fair CEO Matt Ouimet is visiting Valleyfair today.
  23. No problem, I wish I could reveal more but lets just say the rumor I heard, and according to my source has been confirmed, will make you happy! Unfortunaly we won't hear about it officially until sometime next year. When it is safe to do so i'll certainly let everyone know what I've learned. Matt Ouimet, Cedar Fair CEO, stated in the August 5th Cedar Fair financial release that all the new park addtions will be announced soon including a record breaking attraction at Carowinds. I think the next couple of years will be Valleyfairs turn! Let's keep the speculation up! If the rumor that garyman6 knows about will make ChevyExtrem28 happy, then it sounds like a new coaster could finally be in the works for 2016 ! I agree that as long as it is thrilling, not rough, and has some inversions, I will be satisfied. Also, I might be able to swing by VF tomorrow, and if I do, I'll post the Steel Venom situation on here.
  24. ^ That's strange. As far as I can remember, they've always used the holding brake on Steel Venom. Let's hope this isn't a permanent thing. I'd hate to see Steel Venom to get V2ed. Although, Steel Venom usually goes down for maintenance for some time in August, so that might have something to do with it.
  25. Quicksilver Express - Gilroy Gardens
