  1. -If you're by yourself, ask if you can possibly fill an empty seat on a coaster train. It shortens the wait for others, and it makes the train heavier, meaning slightly better rides. -Don't freak out if someone in front of you in line doesn't immediately move with the rest of the line. Unless you're very close to the station, it probably won't slow down your wait time at all. -If you wear a theme park shirt to a park, don't wear one for the park you're at because it makes you look nerdy.
  2. Went to Valleyfair today, just a few notes... -I noticed a few counstruction machines driving on the park's front road, so I'm guessing that demolition will probably begin next week after the waterpark closes. -The screeching noise I noticed on Renegade a few weeks ago is gone for the most part. There is a little bit of it just before it pulls into the brake run, but it sounds a lot better. -Excalibur was actually running decent today. I didn't walk off the ride with the headache I normally get. Despite that, I'm still hoping it gets removed in the next few years. -High Roller was also having a good day. Got airtime on the first drop and all of the hills . -The bumper cars and the train have closed for the year for Haunt preparations. Now that the daily operating season is almost over, the real fun is about to begin...
  3. Was watching a YouTube video about Physics Day at Valleyfair in 1995. A physics teacher pointed at Corkscrew and said "I'm trying to figure out the lowest speed it can go through the loop without falling off." I can't believe it was a physics teacher that said that .
  4. I lived in Florida for a few years, so now that I'm in Minnesota, the summer heat doesn't bother me that much. Still, whenever I go to a park from June through August, I always wear sunscreen, and I'll visit water fountains frequently. If I do find myself really getting hot, I'll try to find some shade, or I'll just fan myself with a park map or something similar. I may occasionally go on a water ride, but those tend to have the longest lines when it's hot, and water rides are usually dominated by small children.
  5. Yes, Is there a time frame you can tell us or at least hint about it? The suspense is killing me! A while back, garyman6 did hint at the secret a little bit: I remember one user was saying that he desperately wants VF's 2016 addition to be a roller coaster, and garyman6 said that the rumor he knows about should make him happy, so this leads me to believe that it is a coaster rumor, although I could be wrong.
  6. I too think that inversions are underrated elements. Yeah, airtime is a lot of fun, but the feeling of being upside down is also quite interesting. Some inversions are really forceful, like good vertical loops. My favorite inversion of all time has to be Goliath's zero-G stall because it has great hangtime, and hanging upside-down without OTSRs is just very strange.
  7. ^ Well, I'd heard that the name Centurion was rejected from Carowinds for some reason, so it probably wouldn't work at VF either. However, if they are somehow able to get permission to use that name, I guess Centurion could be a valid possibility for a new coaster name.
  8. Granted, every other roller coaster type becomes a bit less fun. I wish that Excalibur at VF was a smooth ride.
  9. Yes, Excalibur is a unique coaster, and it has good intensity, but it has become painfully rough. It isn't a "death-machine", but I always have a headache for a few minutes after I get off. At the top of the first turnaround, I always get a good smack to the left side of my body. Even though it doesn't have OTSR's, it still feels like it at times . Although, I am with you on that the next coaster should be near the front of the park so that it has good curb appeal.
  10. Sorry to put a damper on the excitement, but Excalibur is not going anywhere. Excalibur always closes during Halloween Haunt each year. September 14th is just the last normal day before the park completely converts to Valleyscare. I think they close Excalibur because it is a low traffic ride, and the park probably doesn't think the operating costs are worth it. If Excalibur was closing for good, we would have seen a FB or Twitter post along the lines of "Come get your final ride on Excalibur before it's history!" Besides, garyman6 found out in his conversation with GM Dave Frazier that Mr. Frazier doesn't want VF to lose any coasters right now. I'm a "quality-over-quantity" type of person, but I agree with that decision because I'd hate to see that plot of land sit empty for a while. I really do wish that Excalibur was leaving, but it simply isn't happening. Sorry.
  11. Granted, but all of the non-airtime moments on the ride are brutally rough. I wish my city had an amusement park.
  12. Mine is Transformers: The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. I don't really care for the ride's storyline, but it's my favorite dark ride because the visual effects are just incredible. It's also quite thrilling by dark ride standards. As a "thrills-over-theming" type of person, usually these rides don't interest me, but this one did.
  13. ^ Well, I did just remember that the Minnesota River is subject to flooding each spring (VF is right next to it), but I don't know when it does flood or how severe it gets each year, and that might have an effect on when the park can open. However, all things considered, I think the park could be able to open sometime in late April because in a typical year, all of the snow is usually gone by then besides the big piles.
  14. Thanks for the info. It will be nice to use on one of the busier days late this season. I don't want to agree with you but I have too. I was originally thrilled when I heard closing weekend would be in November, but this is Minnesota, and there could easily be a few inches of snow on the ground then. Also, if Valleyfair can stay open until the first weekend in November, then what's their excuse for waiting until mid-May to open each year?
  15. I've been reading on Carowinds' Facebook page some of the reactions to Fury 325, and I'm very surprised that no one has said anything about it being similar to Intimidator. That was the reaction when CW announced Leviathan, but I guess that people are realizing that there are differences between i232 and f325. Although, there are some people that are complaining that they didn't get an attraction for families. Seriously, how can you not be happy with a $30 million giga coaster? I'd kill for Valleyfair to get something like this!
  16. ^ I've never heard Valleyfair refer to it as the Fast Lane pass, just Fast Lane, so hopefully they mean that you actually get a wristband for a for a full day.
  17. Wow! It looks like an awesome giga coaster. Seems like it will have a good mix of airtime and intensity. I guess we can now say that Carowinds has joined the big leagues. Hopefully I can get down there one of these days to ride it.
  18. Valleyfair just posted to their website that season passes for 2015 are on sale now, and that when current passholders purchase one, they may use one free Fast Lane pass this season. Kudos to Valleyfair for that. Also, Kings Dominion just announced their 2015 project, and they are getting a pretty good waterpark expansion. The size of their expansion is about the size that we've been expecting Valleyfair's to be, so what VF gets could be similar to what KD gets.
  19. Granted, they literally eat people. I wish that I was at Cedar Point right now.
  20. While waiting in line for Goliath at SFGAm: "It's a wooden coaster, so it can't go upside-down! It would fall off!" Seriously, have they not been looking at the coaster as it goes upside-down? I wish these people would be more attentive of their surroundings.
  21. Howler (Holiday World) B&M inverted family coaster
  22. Any seat on Goliath is a great seat, but sit in the back if you really want a wild ride.
  23. It certainly is! It definitely lived up to the hype. One more bonus photo... my Goliath boarding pass. (Sorry for reposting this from earlier, but tarheel1231's quote didn't turn out right for some reason.)
  24. According to CoasterFusion, The Time Machine is being taken down. It's about time. Even if it is going all the way to Vietnam, that's good because letting a coaster like this sit dormant is simply sinful.
