  1. I was just doing some thinking about what Valleyfair's next coaster should have, and there are two things I really want out of it: I hope VF's next coaster is smooth as glass, because the park lacks a coaster that's completely smooth. Wild Thing is pretty smooth but it has one or two bad spots in the turnaround, and also, Steel Venom has some headbanging coming down the first spike. Also, I hope that VF's next coaster does not have a mid-course brake run, because if it does, that would allow them to trim the life out of the second half (cough...cough...Wild Thing...cough...cough).
  2. Hmm... Is Cedar Point going to spill the beans on something today?
  3. Random question, but I'm considering going to Haunt at night sometime this year because I've never actually been to it (only been on Sundays afternoons in the past). Does anyone know how cold it must be for Valleyfair shut down the coasters/rides? I know it is 40 degrees in a lot of places, but that may or may not be the case here. I'm asking because if show up and all of the rides are closed, then I'll have wasted my time going to the park.
  4. ^ Well, they might just think you're weird if you reride too much. That's why I said take occasional breaks.
  5. ^ No, no, and no. I probably sound like a broken record for saying this, but VF seriously needs a new high quality coaster, not some rough old Vekoma . It would give the park new inversions, but they would be crappy inversions.
  6. If you're marathoning a coaster, don't overdo it. Take a short break or go ride another coaster. Besides, if you marathon too much, the ride ops will get suspicious about you.
  7. garyman6 and RCjunkie bring up a lot of valid points. Valleyfair has a lot of untapped potential in the population market. Of course, not all 9 million people in VF's market are going to come because some people can't afford it, and others just aren't interested in amusement parks, but if they add a good-looking steel inverting coaster, that could probably up the annual attendance total to 1.5 million, or maybe even 2 million. I've heard a lot of other people say that we won't be getting a B&M or a good-quality steel coaster because the park is too small, but I feel that these people are underestimating the size of Valleyfair. Yeah, it certainly isn't a "big" park, but considering the size of a lot of other places out there, VF isn't as small as many make it out to be.
  8. I think that Wild Thing would probably be considered Valleyfair's signature ride. Even though it's not an amazing hypercoaster, it's still the coaster that the park is known best for. Even after VF gets a B&M one of these days, Wild Thing will probably remain as Valleyfair's signature ride.
  9. I don't think that Fury 325 is truly a bad name, but it certainly isn't very creative. It sounds like something you'd name a coaster in RCT3. Also, I'm not a big fan of ride names that are really over used (Batman, Goliath, Corkscrew, Boomerang, etc.)
  10. I was just thinking about this: How would you guys feel if Valleyfair got a Chance Rides Hyper GT-X coaster? If you're confused, Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom is example of this coaster type. Based on what I've seen and heard about Lightning Run, it sounds like a great coaster with lots of airtime. I've seen that coaster show up in lots of peoples' top 10s in their signature, and a coaster that wows people like that would do wonders for Valleyfair. However, Lightning Run only cost $7,000,000, so some of us might get a bit angry at CF for investing in another cheap coaster at VF. Also, Valleyfair. Needs. A. Coaster. With. Inversions. Oh, did I mention that VF needs a coaster with inversions? One of these at Valleyfair?
  11. Hopefully not. If it was to be converted to a floorless coaster, I might be okay with it, but if not, then no thank you. All that I've seen says that Mantis is probably getting floorless trains and getting rethemed. Besides, Cedar Fair needs to build something of high quality at Valleyfair and not go on the cheap for once.
  12. I'm pretty sure that block violations aren't the problem because on a normal day when Wild Thing is running two trains, while one train is leaving the station, the other train is pulling into the final brake run. Usually when the ride stops on the lift hill, I see the other train coming to an instant stop on the brake run at the same time the other one stops on the hill, and I'm not sure what causes that, but hopefully it can be fixed.
  13. I'm still thinking that Mantis will be getting floorless trains and not get demolished because if you're going to completely remove a coaster to make way for a new one, why wouldn't you do it to something older like Iron Dragon or Corkscrew or Gemini? I guess there is a slight possibility it could get totally removed, but since the ride is only 18 years old, it wouldn't make sense to send it to the graveyard just yet. If Mantis was to get relocated, I'd say send it to Michigan's Adventure because at this point, anything would be a good addition for them. Although, with them stating that more details for 2015 will be released later on, I think that the coaster's structure will stay put and floorless trains will happen. Also, with both Mantis and Skyrider closing in the same year, that leads me to believe that the other CF stand-up coasters' days might be numbered. I wouldn't be surprised to see Shockwave and the two Vortexes close in the near future.
  14. ^ I've noticed Wild Thing getting stopped on the lift hill several times this season, but I've fortunately never been on it when it happened. There have also been a lot of times this season I've seen Renegade stopped on the lift hill, but those were much more brief. Maybe when they are that brief, they're probably telling someone to put away their camera. However, if these are really mechanical problems, I hope they do get taken care of over the offseason.
  15. I like your thinking, but the theming idea isn't completely original because there is already a B&M invert with snow/ice theming (Alpengeist at Busch Gardens Williamsburg). If we get an invert, I think Falcon would be a good choice for a name. I actually heard that VF actually had plans to build a B&M invert in the early-2000's called Falcon: Bird of Prey, but for some reason, the plans fell through, and we got Steel Venom instead. As much as I like Steel Venom, I would rather have gotten the B&M invert. I'm not sure how true this is, but I also remember seeing somewhere that Hydra: The Revenge was supposed to come to VF and be put in the place where Renegade is now, but it went to Dorney Park instead. I don't understand why CF hasn't been willing to give Valleyfair a B&M in the past, but hopefully that might change in the next few years.
  16. Guilty ...you get annoyed whenever someone calls a vertical loop a "loop-de-loop".
  17. Haha, this picture that Tony Clark tweeted is great . If only it was true...
  18. It has been almost two weeks, so I hope supertrooper doesn't mind if I go. Hint: Manufactured by Arrow.
  19. Hmm... maybe the word dark could hint at a dark ride, but on the other hand, I don't think that's what really appeals to teens here.
  20. ^ Nice thinking, Lightning9SX. If you're right, maybe garyman6 is hinting at a B&M invert (which Valleyfair needs badly) . If he's not hinting at an invert, did something else big happen on the day that Banshee opened? Also, Dave Frazier tweeted a picture of some apparent storm damage from yesterday in Dinosaurs Alive. Too bad the storm didn't destroy the Dinos along with this tree .
  21. I have absolutely no idea. This is going to be tormenting me for the next year . Sigh...
  22. Nice to know that it's Cedar Fair saying that it will be a multi-year major expansion. Since that's the case at Carowinds, and since we're in the same boat as them, that makes me more confident that they'd invest in a good coaster for Valleyfair. Of course, I'm reserving final judgement until we see how large the waterpark expansion is.
  23. Steel Venom at Valleyfair has a maximum heigh limit of 6'6", so that's really strange to hear that it's 6'3" on Possessed when they're exactly the same. I guess these policies vary by park, but it doesn't make sense that these clones don't have consistent policies.
