  1. About the pricing, If the tickets don't expire, it is cheaper to buy the 9 pack if you plan to use them over time, or if it is a group of friends/family who only want a few rides they can buy the 9 ticket deal and split them up.
  2. That line for the Dark Knight looks crazy. I don't think I have ever seen the line for it at Great Adventure that long.
  3. It is possible people may not get as upset at Busch Parks because there are a lot less rides so you are using the lockers a lot less, the same with Cedar Point where only 2 out of 15 non kiddie coasters have them. Where at some Six Flags parks where you have over 10 rides with lockers, you are going to be using the lockers all day. Probably because most people don't realize you can't take them in line until after it is purchased. No where on any of the banners advertising the bottles or at the food stands does it say it can't be taken in line so if you buy one befor riding anything or don't see anyone getting stopped with one people might think they can be taken in line. Of course if they mentioned that on the banner, I'm sure a lot less people would buy them.
  4. And to add to that, some stuff you have to take in the park with you. One thing that I can think of is the refillable souvenir soda bottles. They look like a great deal at $12.99 for the season with free refills all day and then $0.99 refills the rest of the season but you can't take it with you in line or leave in the station. I have to pay $1.00 each time I go to a coaster then it isn't such a money saver anymore. Then they added snack bars selling bottled soda in Superman and Nitro's lines. I don't know if all Six Flags parks have it or not but Great Adventure has a prize check, $1.00 per item. You leave the prize a games area and I guess they give you a claim ticket to get it later.
  5. But they allow cell phones, ipods and anything else that you can fit in a pocket in line. I guess all the complaining didn't work because the article said more rides got lockers this year and Great Adventure added them to Skull Mountain and Scream Machine this year as well as at the log flume and rapids. Not counting kiddie coasters, 9 out of 11 coasters have them now
  6. Sounds like today was just as empty as yesterday. How many trains was Bizarro running? Yesterday it was running 2 but they went down to 1 later in the day (it was never more than 10 minutes)
  7. If nothing can be left in the station, shouldn't theft decreased more than 30%. I still don't buy the whole speed of the line argumement. Lines move faster yes but I have been to other parks without lockers that still dispatch trains faster because they have more than 2 people checking a train that seats 32 or 36 people. Plus there is the whole negative view of them. I see people getting annoyed every visit and I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't say anything and are annoyed by it. The comments say it all.
  8. It has been closed to probably save costs. It's not because it is broken. Same with Music Express and Bumper Cars in Old Country and Tango. It is very fusturating to have those rides all SBNO after so many rides have already been removed.
  9. Dominator at Dorney was lowered from 52" to 48" in 2008.
  10. I agree, there are other rides better than KK at the park but the problem is that since it is the most popular rides it makes all the other lines longer. Last Tuesday in the middle of the day Nitro looked to have close to a 40 minute wait, Batman around 30 minutes, Superman 90 minutes (1 train running) partially because KK and Bizarro (not open yet at the time) were closed. On that same week last year, everything except Superman was a walk on. I hope it opens soon if only to make other lines shorter.
  11. It was longer than Great Adventure's and Dorney's rapids, the layout was good with a lot of turns it was just more fun than the ones at Great Adventure and Dorney. I also think a lot are unhappy with the new expansion because it shows how poorly the boardwalk was planned, throwing it in the middle of Midway America and then having to have other rides removed for more expansion. There are still very few slides. When they want to add a new slide tower or two, you have to wonder what rides will be removed next?
  12. Dorney won't be too bad, some school trips but lines shouldn't be more than 10 minutes at the most. The waterpark should also be rather empty since a lot of schools don't allow the kids on the trip to go to the waterpark. Just ride the mouse early or late the day because that is the only ride that can have a wait on a slow day thanks to their stupid policies of no more than 2 adults per car and adding seatbelts to the ride which slows down loading and that they only run 4 or 5 cars usually.
  13. I'd call the park and ask since I haven't heard anything since then.
  14. Kingda Ka got struck with lightning. It was supposed to be closed for 2 weeks as of last weekend. I hope they get it open soon since the park has been a lot busier this week than expected and KK being closed is making the other lines longer.
  15. I think they need to add more to Animal Kingdom before adding another park. I know Everest is new but the park is so lacking in rides. You have a major coaster, a safari (which I never found that great compared to Great Adventure's safari but it seems to be popular), a dumbo clone, 2 spinning mice clones that can be found anywhere a dark ride that isn't family friendly (too scary for kids), a rapids ride and a train. They need another 2 - 3 rides.
  16. As much as I hate a lot of the changes at Great Adventure, like the locker policy and removal of so many rides and I have always hated flashpass but the 1 thing that is better is operations. Last season and this season operations are the best they have been in years. Nitro is almost always running 3 trains, same with Medusa/Bizarro (as of last year), Scream Machine, Batman, Skull Mountain always are running 2 trains (Scream Machine sometimes runs 3). Superman usually runs 2 trains as well. With the exception of Rolling Thunder, dispatches are very fast. Nitro can have a line into the switchbacks and be under a 30 minute wait where the wait time sign says 90 minutes even though those signs are always an overestimate. Batman barely stacks for more than a few seconds, same with Scream Machine. Not to mention the employees are a lot nicer this year. At the entrances being told by them to enjoy the ride or at the unloading/exit area asking how the ride was or asking how my day has been, what rides I have been on etc.
  17. I think Dorney gets a bad reputation because of its location. If it was somewhere else in the country it would be better received but since it is in between Hershey and Great Adventure, and isn't as good as either of those, a lot of people don't think the park is that great. The Wild Mouse is just Cedar Fair being over cautious. They added seatbelts and rarely run more than 4 cars plus the no more than 2 adults per car rule and a confusing loading station to most people make the line crawl. I have waited 10 minutes just with the line in the station. A lot of rides like Dorney are like that, even though the Camp Bus for example has a weight limit of 440 pounds per row and Morey's, Great Adventure and Gillian's all allow 2 people over 54" in the same row, Dorney doesn't even if it is under the weight limit.
  18. My guess is something school related, regular trips or maybe some kind of event for schools since schools like to get to the parks either right at opening or early since they have to leave earlier than park closing most of the time to take the students back to school before it is too late at night.
  19. I'm probably going tomorrow since that will be my first visit in the promotional period (I think it started May 15th). The rewards look cool, Bring a Friend Free is the best one after the 5th visit.
  20. The park wasn't even that crowded that day compared to what the type of crowds it normally gets. It's just that bad operations like 1 train on Storm Runner and SDL made all the line longer than they should have been. And Fahrenheit having the single rider line closed and only 2 trains running. I was told Storm Runner had a 75 minute wait at one point, I went back later in the afternoon and waited around 45 minutes. The rapids had a 15 minute wait that day when it was usually 45+ minutes easily but that was probably because it looked like it was going to rain. If it had been sunny earlier in the day and the park was as crowded as it usually is, I'd have hated to see how bad the lines were. Rollersoaker wasn't running at full capacity either and the dispatches were slower than they should have been. The main reason we went that day was for the rapids (couldn't get there early enough to join the TPR trip for the day even though ERT would have been awesome since I think they said you had to be there by 8 or 8:15)
  21. It was removed at the end of the 2005 season. So many rides have been removed in the past few seasons it is crazy.
  22. That spider on the Chaos ride is known as the spider of doom. Whatever ride it is placed on usually means the ride is going to be removed. It was also on Chiller one year. Last year the management was having fun with everyone moving it around every week during Frightfest. One week it was on Medusa, the next week Skull Mountain, the next week it was next to the Northern Star Arena.
  23. I don't know what is crazier the standing Falling Star or Pirate Ship. It's also amazing the type of rides you see at parks/fairs out of the US.
  24. The ride looks amazing, I hope more Six Flags parks get this ride next year. I'd much rather see this at Great Adventure than yet another coaster.
